was not shared with hillsborough county. the sinkhole opened at the mosaic plant in august. it sits close to hillsborough. they kept the lid on this for 19 days. according to hillsborough environmental protection water division protection, mosaic never reached >> we were not notified by them. we reached out to them when we had heard of the news. mosaic insists that it's not traveled beyond its traveled. they told 8 on your side that hillsborough epc tested several bodies of water near the mosaic plant and found no contamination. meanwhile, some we will test results from around t today.

veterans. you can see it towards carrollwood. in this is just north of the airport. tracking a decent amount of lightning east of i-75 towards river view and brandon and eastern hillsborough county and north of poke city down through dundee and lake whale. expect to see scattered activity for a few hours, a couple isolated showers to the south of us. water vapor imagery shows just to the north of us, that bright red color, that's much drier air. but for now we have a decent amount of moisture. some of the drier air we're going to tap into in the next couple days. our showers and storms will continue to push east of i-75 in the next couple days. polk county and high lands county this evening have the best rain chances. then the rain comes to an end around sunset. we'll show you the lower rain chances in the forecast coming

of running a worldwide computer scam. a polk county man fell victim and he's out nearly $60,000. he responded to a pop up ad on his computer for a $499 antivirus software program. a person contacted him from the company, computer tech help.com, and ended up getting the victim to give him access to his bank accounts. the scammers drained his life savings. >> he's reimbursing them out of his checking account and he looked in his savings account and he lost money. >> there are at least two other victims, one in sausalito, california, the other in colombia, missouri. detectives believe there may be others in florida as well. the supreme court could rule tomorrow on the death row inmates after the highest court

north. brandon 79 degrees with nearby rain around. we're seeing pockets of showers and storms, especially around the tampa, hillsborough county area. for the rest of the evening, at 9 p.m., any rain will likely be coming to an end. temperatures will be in the low 80s. and then as we head past midnight, we'll drop back into the upper 70s. it's going to stay warm with a mostly clear sky. temperatures tomorrow when you wake up will be warm. we're back up close to 90 in the afternoon. it's going to be steamy as well. the heat will be back with us and we'll probably see a little less rain. right now we have isolated activity. you notice not everyone seeing rain this afternoon, but there are pockets of decent downpours and a whole lot of light thing in this storm. we've got heavy rain off i-4 and tracking heavier rain towards

airport. inland into polk county, highland park about to deal with heavy rain there as well as the showers and storms slowly drift off towards the east. as we head tlut evening, a -- through the evening, a few lingering showers are expected, wrapping up after sunset. by tomorrow morning, temperatures will be warmer, in the mid-70s. a few clouds around. notice through the day, the rain is going to be pretty limited. slightly drier air starts to sneak in. we'll keep our storm chances near 20%. the same is true for your friday morning. by friday afternoon, we'll see temperatures close to 90 again and not a whole lot in the rain department. expect a mostly dry day on friday. out in the tropics, we're tracking tropical depression karl and tropical storm lisa, neither expected to impact the u.s. or florida. good news there. now for us as we head through the end of this week into this weekend, we'll keep our rain chances near 20%. 30% chance of rain sunday.

the shooting resulted in riots there overnight. police are warning people not to fall for a scam that threatens their lives. this one is scary. officers in port orange, florida, sent us this sample text, claiming someone was paid to kill the recipient. the sender will spare the victim's life for cash. police tell us this is not real. simply delete it. two st. petersberg city leaders are on sewage dump into the bay. it turns out a whistleblower warned something like this could have happened because of the closing of a sewage plant. today the mayor placed the water resource director on unpaid administrative leave. just yesterday the mayor told us he never knew about the whistleblower report. >> we're trying to get answers
