tonight they have placed two on unpaid administrative leave all because of this. a whistle blower who warned something like this could happen. chief operator of the city and waste water treatment plant wrote a letter saying the city is having spills related to the shut down of the waste water treatment place. >> how could you not know about the report? how could you not know? mayor of the city. >> just yesterday our own paul miller asked the neighbor why this is going on. >> we're trying to plan for the future and everybody needs to be working together on this thing instead of people that are doing things behind the scenes. >> meanwhile, governor rick scott ordering the department of environmental protection to look into this and saying we must do all we can to provide for the environment.

news channel 8's jeff patterson joins us now live. >> yeah, good evening. since 8 on your side first broke this story about this massive sink hole, people who live near here on well water have been concerned today. some of theme were notified about their test results. >> as the crow flies, courtny and her family lives less than three miles from the plant with the giant sink hole. they depend on well water every with it. whatever it's needed for. it's just kind of scary. >> the family is now using only bottled water provided but they are worried about the future. >> so what is it doing if it is here and what's going to happen if it is here. what will they do to help us? >> they have now hired an independent testing company to examine well water in the area. >> in this case we're looking for a fingerprint that would be

>> the fingerprint of water would include high levels of sodium, sol feign, unacidic content and show radio activity if it's from the mosaic plant. so far, the first round of test results have no sign of that. >> the asterisk or the star is the plant. the circle is generally where we took circles on monday. >> the water samples are sent to an independent testing company. gary acknowledged it could take months or years for contamination to show up. >> the water may not be there today but it could be in six months. >> yeah, the independent testing company examined 11 wells on tuesday. 32 more wells today. so the initial test results would be coming in over the next few days. >> jeff, there are a lot of wells in polk county. is everyone having wells

in the area, their well water can be tested. here's something very interesting we found out. a lot of people who called aren't calling the testing company back. they need them to call them back so they can set up the test for their private wells. if they call and if they set up the test results, they can have their wells examined. >> they just got to call back. we'll help spread the information. live tonight from eagle hd, thank you. >> a 13-year-old stud accused of trying to poison her teacher. it happened last friday. the deputies are reporting that the teenager ground up a piece of chalk and use that chalk that was being assigned for a class assignment and when she distracted the teacher she slipped that powder, all the ground up chalk into the teacher's coffee. another student stopped the student from drinking out of the cup. the teacher is fine but a

>> she obviously cares about kids and has the skills to deal with the more difficult students or students with disabilities and so to have an incident like this happen directly to a teacher and to this teacher is extremely troubling. >> and in addition to criminal charges school officials tell us this student will be expelled. >> the city of charlotte, north carolina is braced for more po all of this following the police shooting of a black man tuesday afternoon. an incident for which police and witnesses give conflicting accounts. the officer that fired the fatal shot is on administrative leave. other officers involved in the incident were. that video is being reviewed as the investigation continues. meanwhile, the news of keith scott's death surged through social media fueling the angry

we have a closer look at the chaos. >> yeah, in several parts of charlotte, protesters squared off with police. >> chaos in the streets after news of keith scott's death. protests erupted near the shooting. many of the large crowds were chanting and holding signs, some throwing objects at police. ofcers fired tier gas. watch as this prote police. angry protesters demanding action. >> we hold the police accountable for what they do. a family member of the victim visibly distraught. >> they jumped out their truck and got a gun pow, pow, pow. >> protesters shut down the interstate and started fires in the roadway.

others just wanting their voices heard. >> the throwing of water bottles and destroying city vehicles i don't condone that. as far as my child, my nephews, i'm concerned and worry about them. >> other protests, tractor trailers were lewded and officers unable to make their way through these crowds. >> there's a man standing on a police cruiser right now. >> protesters say a charlotte police officer shot and killed scott who protesters claim was unarmed. charlotte police say he when i see this, i'm thinking any given moment i get pulled over or stopped or a cop comes it's likely i'm going to get shot. armed or not. >> in all, police said 12 officers were injured during the demonstrations. 11 people were taken from demonstrations and treated for nonlife threatening injuries. >> thanks josh. >> now to your vote and the race for the white house. the recently deadly officer

and tulsa are front and center on the campaign trail today. both presidential candidates reacting to the police shootings that killed african americans in the last 48 hours. clinton was on the campaign trail. she says too many african americans end up dead at the hands of police. meantime today marks the first time donald trump condemned the police shooting that killed an african american. >> i don't know what she was thinking. i'm very, very troubled by that. >> we have add to a list of african americans killed by police officers in these encounters. it's unbearable. it needs to become intolerable. >> both candidates will continue to campaign in battleground states. tomorrow donald trump will be in pennsylvania and hillery clinton sending her running mate to california. >> despite outrage from lawmakers.

. a person of interest in a homicide investigation is now in custody. 37-year-old lace heflin was arrested on drug charges unrelated to the murder investigation of 95-year-old come anemic demundo. charges are expected against heflin in that case. monday investigators found dead in his home. they're looking for people who was hired to do work around his home. >> we've had heat today and a few showers pop up. >> it came and it's raining. threat. it helps to drop the temperature too. a few clouds around.

thunderstorm activity. further south you can see the northern sections dry and elsewhere. 77 degrees and 90 degrees in the forecast for tomorrow. i'm mentioning we're trending drier overall. that will help. most areas are plain hot as you can see. we have a bit of a west coast sea breeze. a few clouds and showers here. that red color, that's dry air at the mid-and up every levels of the atmosphere slowly singing farther down south. overall, this red color, this drier air higher above in the atmosphere you don't feel way in the much of humidity is stabilizing the atmosphere. look north across georgia not much in the way of presip. in the tropics, we have carl

just a report on them, you can see carl weaker. computer models haven't done a good job with the intensity. that's not a problem with forecasting especially with intensity forecasting and 45- mile-per hour winds. we'll continue to watch the tropics closely. as for the rest of the evening a few thunderstorms in the forecast up until 7:30. scattered to isolated th tomorrow, we have this boundary to the north fizzling out. the drier air in the atmosphere. maybe a few showers and limited rain fall a good way to put it. we've lowered the rain chance at 20%. you can see here on the 8-day forecast. 20% for thursday. 20% for friday and i think northern areas probably fewer

shown but his story out. the 71-year-old man responded to a pop up add on his computer for a $499 antivirus software program. a person claiming to help him. we're told this man was getting access to his bank accounts. the victim was told the software still wasn't working so he could have his money back. the scammer claimed he accidently refunded him too much money. >> i said i have no problem sending it back to you. >> then came a transfer of money orders to thailand. when the victim caught on, it was too late. >> convicts is what they are. after your money every moment of the day online. they're there and if you give
