teenage suspect's father was found dead three miles from the school. >> at this point it is unclear what the gunman's mow fif was in all of this. here is more from the scene and this was in townville, south carolina. he hacks the latest. mark. >> reporter: good evening. yes, wee elementary school. you can see that administrators and teachers have been allowed back into get their possessions after what has been a very terrifying day. >> it happened just after lunch. reports of shots fired at the elementary school in greenville, south carolina. after least three people at the school were murt. >> one patient flown to the

the student injuries do not appear to be life-threatening. they believe there was one shooter, a teenager and they have him in custody. >> meanwhile, nervous parents rushed to the school. i pray for the families and the kids. >> they were taken to a nearby church and relieved families picked them up while investigators piece together what happened and why. and while authorities were on the scene here, a separate 911 call came in that summoned them to the house where they so now a town that has 4,000 inhabitants now has two crime scenes to be investigated. thank you. >> >> and we're going to have more coverage of that shooting in south carolina coming up on "nbc nightly news."

me now. i understand the hillsboro county school district is taking a second look at her claim. >> yes. the king high school football coach was supposed to cover this injured player in the offseason but no one at king high school or the district can find that policy or for that matter prove it ever existed. >> they require football players to buy it, but didn't cover kenny johnson when he had his bell running during an off season practice at the high school. did you see stars that tay? >> yes. >> she saw hospital bills, thousands of dollars worth for treatment of kenny's concussion. she has to pay about $3,500 after her insurance kicked in. the secondary school insurance didn't cover a penny. >> did you ever think you would

evening and 70s, 80s, very high humidity. there is a note of overnight rain and morning rain for tomorrow like we have seen before the noon stuff when we would see a westerly flow. mostly in the 80; some 70s though. red tide, we saw some of these dead fish pictures on our twitter page. paul mueller one of our reporters captured that. venice beach, treasure coast, that is where he was ca we saw that into pinellas county and sarasota primarily but pinellas included as well. showers and thunderstorms to the north. there is that clump of thunderstorms in a line. tropical storm matthew is definitely here and moving to the west. it is in the caribbean now. the forecast will be higher sheer environment category 1 storm saturday with 92-mile-an- hour winds. this will change, because you

60-mile-an-hour winds and moving fast to the west at 18 miles per hour. you dan get an idea the consensus is following closely to watch the national hurricane center is saying but that can change. well formed system and moving quickly to the west. a lot of convection. thunderstorms, and on the european computer model which does weather, the factors warm ocean waters and light wind sheer. it could interact with mountainous areas on hispanola and cuba and this could help to move that system to the north. it is all about timing in the tropics and those are the current factors. slight possibility of a morning shower, even overnight. we have seen some of that. surprising it dumps a lot of
