hillary clinton had an advantage going into the debate. i think she holds on to that advantage tonight, josh. let's talk about election night. another big thing everybody is talking about is how trump refused to say he will accept the result of the election if he doesn't win. you know he makes comments about the election being rigged. what's being said about all of that? >>reporter: well, all of these people behind me, you see who were holding redskins are going to be asked that question because that's the question that's going to lingering not just for th debate hall tonight. everybody running for office will be asked, will you support the election results when they come in? that's a tough one for donald trump. i was kind of surprised he took that stance. why should we be? he was hinting he would go that direction. i don't think it was terrific night for donald trump. he needed to knock it out of

an inmate on a park work detail thought he could get away to freedom but it didn't work out the way he planned. peter bernard joins us from the jail. many wondering how did he get a weapon? >>reporter: that's the big question. in prison a knife is called a shank and this guy used one to theten the corrections officer. >> and he laid down flat, you know, flat out. and then he kept picking up his head and kicking his feet. >> reporter: she where pinellas deputies pinned the inmate on the ground. >> they caught the guy and he was down to the ground and three cops had their guns on him telling him not to noouf and he would intentionally pick up his head and kick his feet. >> reporter: i say escape began 2 hours earlier. he was on a prison work detail with four other inmates. he used a knife to take the officer hostage. handcuffed him, locked his fellow inmates in this building

so how could this happen? how is it an inmate with an assault record is able to get a weapon and usa it on an unarmed guard. >> we're not sure at this point. >> reporter: we asked the doc what went wrong. in a statement they replied a review of the incident is underway to determine the cause and evaluate the response. alert kepts are being credited for spotting the truck with information that he used to live in treasure island. the truck at this station. he drove into the yard and ran opposite with deputies in pursuit. he diplomat make it far. >> very close to home. >> reporter: the inmate is facing a long list of charges here in pinellas and in polk county. it's likely he will be spending a lot more time in prison. peter bernard news chan dmel #. fortunately the corrections officer is fine and during the arrest no deputies were injured. well now to # on your
