melissa marino, newschannel8. >> a serious substantiateoff with a man barricaded in a new port richey motel ended safely with his arrest. deputies closed off parts of u.s. 19. michael putnam told deputies he wanted a shoot-out with law enforcement and locked himself in a room. tonight, a your vote counts controversy. some voters in pinellas county are concerned about voter fraud because some of linda never got her first ballot in the mail so she called to get a replacement. now she is concerned someone could use her missing ballot to vote. they say they verify each signature on the ballot. >> the biggest procedure is the signature portion. every voter will sign their ballot return envelope. when it is returned to our office, we will verify that the signature on the return envelope matches that on the voter's file.

and when the ballot is returned it lets them know that person has voted. tonight, saint petersburg's northeast little league continues its struggle to pay bills. earlier this season, the company that handles registration and fees doesn't pay the league $35,000 paid by parents. the league president was hopeful they would see the money eventually. now, there's just three weeks left of the season and he is still getting the run out of town. we have heard a lot of excuses on why they cannot give us the money. >> the league president has a big safety concern. the dark. as the days get shorter they have to pay more to keep the lights on and that costs $1,000 a monthment now, the league is trying to pay bill withs the money from a go fund me account. busch gardens shut down one of its more popular rides in response to a deadly accident of a similar ride in an

michael, newschannel8. >> state officials are trying to help out orange grower who's have been heart by citrus screening. over the past few years, this disease has ravaged orange groves throughout the state. so the state department of agriculture is offering farmers up to $250,000 in incentives to help plant new trees but some say it is not enough. >> it offset some of the cost, but it is a far cry from what we have spent on it. most of the growers have spent two to re trees. >> instead, some growers feel the state should focus its efforts on stopping the spread of the disease across florida. and he said he was working on his own kind of way of stoping the greening an having some success. it would be interesting to hear more about that. >> it is such a huge industry in the state. and it has been a major driver outside of tourism for the michigan so you hate to see it struggle as much as it does and

i've seen what can happen as the result of hate. my son matt was murdered in laramie, wyoming, in 1998. he was befriended by two men in a bar who pretended to be gay. they offered him a ride home, and when he was in their car, they robbed him and beat him. they drove matt out to the prairie and tied him to a split-rail fence, then beat him some more and left him for dead. aftermath of matt's death, my family saw the best of america in the love and support we were shown. so when i see the hate that donald trump has brought to his campaign for president, it terrifies me. i'd like to punch him in the face, i'll tell ya. ahh, i don't know what i said, uhh, i don't remember. he's a mexican. i could stand in the middle of fifth avenue and shoot somebody, and i wouldn't... words have an influence. violence causes pain. hate can rip us apart.

saw a lot of high clouds. mid level clouds as well moving in from the east. generally, the high clouds gave the sky an opaque appearance. we had forecast 83. but had anticipated a little more sunshine to give us slightly warmer temperatures. but not the case. as for the evening maybe a few clouds breezing along the lower level clouds but of course, the higher clouds we talked about. still in the forecast picture. this evening again, we have this cold front back to our west that is sort of falling apart. some of have suggested potentially a few sprinkles along the boundary. less than 10%. that easterly flow is in place. as we get to thursday, parking lotly cloudy skies. more of the northeasterly flow that will continue in the forecast. that is slowly helping to lift the humidity a little bit more each day. not really unpleasant. but, if it does happen to be pure sunshine, you are out in the afternoon, it might feel a little bit warmer but the evenings, afternoons are
