thanksgiving a also known as drunksgiving. the efforts to keep our roads safe. those are fireworks. what exploded that have this group of men running for cover. thank you for joining us. we begin with breaking news. two deputies say they had the fire on a man that appeared to have a death wish based on the way he was waving a knife at them >> live from the duvall park apartments. a very sad situation tonight? >>reporter: deputies say they had no choice, absolutely no choice but to shoot this 43 -year-old unidentified man who died a short time later at his apartment complex. tonight, neighbors told me they are not shocked this took a tragic turn. >> i saw him shoot him. >> the victims upstairs neighbor he watched as deputies knocked on the door, ordered him to come out and when he did they said they had no choice

his left arm and approach one of our deputies. as he approached the deputy, he stated you are going to have to kill me. >>reporter: one deputy stepped back and pulled his gun the other ordered him to drop the knife and pulled his gun when he didn't comply he shot the man several times. why did they come to the complex? of the man's girlfriend needed help. she said it was violent and drunk. they were visible marks on her neck. neighbors say they are surprised. >> he didn't stop drinking, didn't stop doing the wrong thing that doesn't ot rational thought. you don't come after a police officer armed i don't care how messed up you are. they did the right thing. >> split second decisions for the deputies when someone is approaching with a large knife up raised like this, there are no other protocols decides to use force. >>reporter: the man's girlfriend and two young children were inside of the time. tonight we are told they are okay. a couple quick questions, do not deputies have been

now in tampa with this story i know you are the location there were two folks have to say about this ranking? >>reporter: i spoke with the manager earlier this evening. as you might imagine he is not thrilled with this designation. that said he told me employees go through training twice a year making sure they know when someone has had one too many. add to that this bar has its own uber account to pay for a patron's should not be driving. hours before the bar closed on the south howard entertainment district, presence by the tampa police department. every patron we spoke with has a plan for a ride after the party and that doesn't include a ride to jail. >> hopefully always uber we don't want to spend money that -- don't want to waste money don't want to get in trouble.

in the murder of an elderly st. petersburg man, we have just learned that johnny moore shot the victim during an argument before taking off in the victim's motorhome. eagle eight hd flew over u.s. 4 0 1 where authority spot at that get a quick vehicle and traffic. the rest went down in the middle of the street. just earlier, at st. petersburg, eagle hd flew over the murder scene police tell us moore shot randy wright in the chest. the two were friends and living together temporarily. we are waiting to still find out what charges may be brought against johnny moore. a sad update tonight on the wayne state university police officer shot in the head during a police stop. unfortunately, he has died. 29 -year-old colin rose was the fifth officer shot in the united states in less than a week. a suspect described as a person of interest is in custody. he has not been charged however. incredible video out of new

. an annual new york tradition. the inflating of the famed macy's thanksgiving day parade balloons. tonight, thousands came to watch the historic balloons inflated ahead of tomorrow morning's parade this year, security top of mind for the millions expected to line up throughout the famed parade around. so many people, thousands will come but also thousands of offices will take to the streets and snipers will be stationed on rooftops. heavy sand trucks will be parked along the route to prevent any truck ramming attack. people are encouraged to remain vigilant. really scary no matter what

temperatures close to average dropping a little bit thanks to a cold front saturday. temperatures upper 70s and dropping to 76 sunday. a few extra clouds saturday, slight chance of rain and by monday, jump right back. cold fronts commit but not making a huge impact. help drop temperatures and the dew point for a couple days and way. 80 and 64 degrees, warming quickly 77 degrees. 81 at 3 p.m., 66 clearwater be elsewhere 64 in lakeland, 58 in crystal river, 63 sebring and 67 sarasota, venice 64. some of the clouds you saw will continue to move across the area tonight. if you are out trying to watch the sky they might be problematic in spots. air aloft moving away thanks to high-level moisture streaking across from the west.
