prosecutors have said that deandre charles is a cold- blooded killer who shot and killed a rabbi after trying to rob him. however tonight we are hearing charles in his own words: multiple detectivethat he is innocent. >> reporter: in late may 2020 >> reporter: in late may 2015 police sat down with deandre charles. investigators confronted the teen with testimononfrom an eyewitness. >> i was not there. i was not there -- i i don't know what the hell you are talking about. >> reporter: the detective also told them that he was 14 at the time of the murder and they have physical evidence linking him to the crime.

>> i know i don't have any dna because i was not there. that is a falsehood. >> reporter: crime scene reports show that charles is dna could not be excluded from a dna sample taken from the right sleeve of the rabbi's clothing. reports also showed that his dna may have also been found him again. at the time of the questioning charles remained adamant that he was innocent. he swore that he was at home. fast-forward seven months miami- dade police arrested him and he admitted prior to tpe reporting that he was at the scene of the crime but once cameras rolled he denied any involvement. >> i know you don't want a snitch but we know you are involved. >> it's not about snitching. right now. if i were to know something

you. >> reporter: charles is expected back in court next week. investigators believe two other ople may have been bold -- involved. investigators hope to make additional arrests. carey codd cbs 4 news tonight. miami police are asking for your help in identifying the man pictured here. police say he was found walking on the median and biscayne boulevard and acting erratically. he has been transported to the hospital but efforts to identify him have been unsuccessful. if you have information you are asked to call police. we have breaking news from overseas that will mean a rough start to the trading day tomorrow. it's thursday in china and the selloff was so steep and fast they had to suspend trading for the rest of the day. csi exchange triggered more than 7% which triggers an automatic halt to date and -- trading. us stocks are down sharply because of fears about china's economy.

police say she got into a fight with the boy after school and stabbed him. oralia ortega's wife in fort lauderdale with the story. >> reporter: a 16-year-old g gl has been arrested in the stabbing of a 17-year-old boy who continues to recover at broward general. according to police it started when the two got up the school bus and got into a fight. >> it is wrong for someone to do something like that. >> reporter: the relatives of a teen stabbed and lauderhill rushed to check on his condition. >> reporter: chopper four was over the scene where according to police a group of high school students have been dropped off by a school bus shortly after 3 o'clock on 56th avenue. a verbal fight broke out. >> initial information we were getting was that it was a large group of juveniles. >> reporter: the fight moved a

were dispatched and say they spotted about 10 to 20 students. >> they dispersed when we got out of the vehicle. we notice that there was a victim laying on the ground. we came to find out he was a victim of the stabbing. >> reporter: the teen was rushed to broward general with non-life-threatening injuries. officers began their investigation. >> we had a lot of witnesses that remained on the scene and led to an arrest. >> reporter: police tell us the 16-year-old girl is being charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon. the investigation continues as to what sparked the fight to go --. oralia orchid -- oralia ortega cbs 4 news tonight. an on -- and not guilty plea was entered in the present case.

he launched -- launched his head between two metal posts. he may have been trying to look in another giraffe in a holding area when his head got stuck between the two posts. they say he had a spinal cord injury and had to be euthanized. they are now looking for any other potential hards. donald trump is doubling down in his latest attack against ted cruz. he says crews could face legal questions about whether he is able to be president since he was born in canada. trump told cnn if he is sure that there is no issue to let a judge back him up. he could ask for a declaratory judgment and lack of clear everything up. the judge will rule in which the judge rules that he's okay than the democrats can't bring it up against them later.
