being remembered for her fierce devotion to her husband. she will be buried next to her you husband at the reagan presidential library in simi valley, california. teri okita is at the elaborate. >> reporter: good morning, meg. you're right. the condolences are pouring in, both from the famous and everyday citizens who are using the words like strong, devoted, reagan. a steady stream of mourners stopped at the reagan presidential library to pay respects and leave flowers to the former first lady nancy reagan. >> i thought she brought a lot of classiness to the position of first lady. >> reporter: nancy reagan died of congestive heart failure at her los angeles home on sunday. mrs. reagan was known for being her husband's fiercest protector and most protective advocate. she was an advocate for stem cell research following former

alzheimer's disease in 1994. where the two worshipped at the bellaire presbyterian church, people talked about the former first lady after the services. >> she was considerate of people around her and greeted everybody with a smile, as did her husband. >> ji say. >> just say no! >> reporter: nancy reagan's best-known project as first lady was the just say no campaign, aimed at keeping kids and teenagers away from drugs. though, she had her critics, her admirers will remember her for restoring grace and elegance to the white house. president obama and first lady michelle obama said in a redefined the role of first lady. she will be buried alongside her husband at the ronald reagan presidential library. in fact, many say there would have been no president reagan without her. funeral arrangements are still be able to pay their last respects before she is laid to rest.

bernie sanders eighth win out of 19 contests, he also won on but hillary clinton maintains a seemingly overwhelming lead in delegates. tomorrow, delegate-rich michigan last night, the democrats debated in flint. weijia jiang has our report. >> reporter: vermont senator bernie sanders and hillary clinton debated in flint, michigan, to address the city's water crisis. >> what is going on is a disgrace beyond belief. >> reporter: the tap water became toxic with lead after officials switched the water supply to cut costs. investigators revealed state leaders knew about the problem, but failed to do anything about it. both candidates called for michigan's governor to resign. >> people should be held accountable, wherever that leads. >> reporter: the debate came just two days before voters head to the polls for michigan's democratic primary. the candidates sparred over an issue important to the people here, the 2009 bailout of the auto industry. >> i voted to save the auto industry. he voted against the money that

industry. >> if you are talking about the wall street bailout, where some of your friends destroyed this economy! >> you know. >> excuse me. i'm talking. >> reporter: clinton holds a major delegate advantage and is leading in the michigan polls, but sanders hopes his weekend caucus wins in maine, kansas, and nebraska will change voters' minds. weijia jiang, cbs news, flint, michigan. on the republican side, ted cruz says there is a shift in momentum. contests in kansas and maine, while donald trump won in louisiana and kentucky. marco rubio picked up his second win of the primary season in puerto rico. trump still has the most closer. marco rubio is lagging behind in the delegate count with time running out. he is fighting the notion that anti-trump voters should back ted cruz and vows to win his home state of florida and its 99-winner take all delegates. yesterday at a rally in idaho, rubio talked about the

>> at its best, the conservative movement is about the belief and fundamental principles of limited government and free enterprise and a strong national defense, and traditional values. >> tomorrow, cruz and the other gop candidates will battle for 150 delegates in four states. this morning, police in idaho are searching for a gunman who shot a pastor in a church parking lot in coeur d'alene. the pastor is identified as tim remington. witnesses say he was shot in the back four times on sunday but is expected to survive. he led a prayer at a ted cruz rally on saturday. police are searching for kyle odom. no one else was injured. the latest storm system pounding the west coast is moving inland today. a series of weekend storms brought drenching rain and flooding to the region. two deaths are blamed on the weather. on saturday, it was the wettest day in the san francisco area since 1914. yesterday, southern california bore the brunt of another system

50 miles per hour. the search for a man who fell from a cruise ship off the florida coast has been called off. the coast guard received a report late friday night from the crew of the navigator of the seas that a passenger had fallen overboard. he fell from the tenth deck, about 100 feet from the water. search and rescue crews searched through the weekend but were unable to locate him. former president jimmy carter says he doesn't need any more treatment for cancer. mr. carter broke the news to a sunday school class he teaches. the former president is 91 years old. less than seven months ago, he revealed he had been diagnosed with melanoma that had spread to his brain. coming up on the "morning news." how ron and nancy met. and look how communism in hollywood led a role in bringing the reagan's together. later, peyton manning calls it a career. this is the "cbs morning news." kamiko is my bff, darren is her boyfriend. jilliam is my sister, she's dating liam who used to date theresa, but they're still friends. well, kamiko and darren

two british adventurers have a survival story to tell, thanks to the u.s. coast guard. a helicopter plucked them from icy waters off alaska last week. they were heading for an island when the ice became too thick for kayaks but too thin to walk on. they were brought safely to gnome. a closer look at the unusual way ronald and nancy reagan met. and deadly rampage in new york city. those are some of the headlines on the morning newsstand. new york's daily news is reporting how officers wounded and captured a man accused of terrorizing a queens neighborhood. police say the man killed a shop owner, slashed a woman, and burned a homeless man and tossed acoustic liquid at officers yesterday. the 23-year-old suspect was cornered in his backyard. buzzfeed reports that rape and sexual assaults were mentioned thousands of times in uber's customer records. but the ride sharing service says it received five claims of rape and fewer than 170 sexual assault complaints in the period
