police. good evening,, we will take you to south beach in just a moment. >>first, a tent scene in chicago. the arena was filled with thousands of people evenly divided between donald trump supporters and protesters. it made for a violent combination. >>the rally schedule that university of illinois chicago pavilion was called off after large numbers of protesters packed the arena, clashing with trump supporters who chanted we want trump. >> [ video playback ] . >>fights broke out in front of dozens of news cameras there to cover the republican presidential front-runner. this protesters made his way to the stage where he ripped apart a trump campaign sign. as the man was escorted away by security, he got into a fight with a trump supporter wearing an american flag as a cape. at one point, a trump campaign spokesman made the announcement

canceled. donald trump just arrived and after meeting with law enforcement has determined that for the safety of all the tens of thousands of people that have gathered in and around the arena tonight's rally will be postponed until another day. thank you very much for your attendance. >>tensions at his event has been high for weeks with the protester sucker punched in north carolina and then detained by police. 78-year- old john mcgraw was arrested the next day and charged with assault. >>yes he deserved it. the next time we see him, we might have to kill them. >>the atmosphere at his rallies had become more charged and he has blamed the protesters for the tension. >>we have protesters were bad dudes. they have done bad things. they are swinging, they are really dangerous and they get in there and they start hitting people. >>tonight he said he did the right thing, canceling his rally . >>i met with law enforcement

decision to counsel. it is pretty well broken up and no major problems it. we made a decision even though our freedom of speech is violated totally. we made a decision not to go forward. i don't want to see anybody get hurt and you would've had some people possibly getting hurt or beyond. >>there were some major problems. you can see the number of people on the street in chicago. a group circulated a petition calling for the group -- the event to be canceled. tonight he said he has no plans on canceling any future rallies. >>massive crowds overtake south the chaotic scene shut down ocean drive as spring break gets out of hand. police called for backup when the crowd became too much for officers to handle. people out on ocean drive are taking to social media to share video of the cast. we have the breaking story from south the -- beach.

night on south beach. you can see just how chaotic in the cell phone videos posted to social media. spring break clouds float off the beach and onto loomis park. people started spilling onto ocean drive. after police tried to control the crowd, people pushed, brawls broke out and objects were thrown. the crowd became so big, so out of control, so quickly and he police had to call in more units working other areas as well as units from miami police. >>i first everything was starting to get under control -- at first, everything was starting to get under control but things are rowdy. >>here's a view from above of the unruly crowd. you can see some people are even standing on top of cars. if you troublemakers, annoyed spring breakers just looking to chill on famous miami beach. >>people down here just want to

happened involving several jockeys, a couple of horses. fernandez said he is banged up but can't wait to get back out here. rafael hernandez has one nearly 2000 races in his career. he has the trophies and awards to prove it. but he says he has never experienced anything like this on a racetrack until official afternoon -- faithful afternoon of february 20. his horse clicked heels with the horse in front setting off a train reaction crash -- chain reaction crash. he hit the dirt hard and briefly passed out. >>i just tried to move my leg and i know something inside me is back. >>-- bad. >> he believes the horse stepped on him or kicked him. today i told police to take care of me. >> he suffered a broken collarbone, fractured ribs and had to have one of his kidneys removed. his doctors assured him that he

police cou a father and his 10-year- old daughter are alive thanks to a good samaritan who pulled them from this wreck peer apparently, other people drove by and didn't notice the emergency or chose to ignore it peer either way, tonight we can introduce you to a hero. the badly damaged shell of a minivan is pulled from the water. the 2 people inside might still be in it had it not been for a good samaritan who jumped into rescue complete strangers. thomas was on his way to work early this morning when debris hit his windshield around northwest 47th avenue and west sunrise boulevard. >>i looked across and i saw a vehicle that went straight into the water it. i stopped immediately. i ran across to put my cell phone -- to dial 911 and i was begging for people to stop.

high tomorrow -- the rip current risk will continue high tomorrow but it will not go away the entire weekend. tomorrow will be the worst of the 2 days. sunday will be the better. those easterly winds not just kicking up with current but also a few showers have popped up about 25 miles offshore. they haven't made it to the coast yet, but every once in a while a little sprinkle or 2 could reach the beaches sometime later on tonight. don't be surprised if you are late and there's one passing sprinkle. high temperatures made it into the lower 80s for most areas. around the state, nice in mild from the panhandle only down to the keys. so, we are soon going to be closing the books on winter corner. the springlike temperatures are already here. this big storm system that was over mexico and texas still cranking up, but
