violence a donald trump's rallies. thousands are casting ballots in early voting at miami-dade gears up. thank you for joining us i'm vanessa borge . >> and i am lauren pastrana. this special edition starts right now. fight for florida voters will head to the polls tomorrow to cast their ballots in florida's primary. this is the presidential hopefuls are making their last pitch in the sunshine state and the numbers are not looking so good. this morning, campaign 2016 and the fight for florida is on. a just-released poll finds donald trump keeping his lead. >> in fact, it's not good for marco rubio.

by a margin of two to one. marco rubio comes in with 22%, ted cruz has 14%, the poll's margin of error is 4%. >> the florida primary is tomorrow, and registered voters are ready have cast their ballots. >> absentee ballots continue to roll in in miami-dade. we are live at the election department with the latest. >> that's >> reporter: good morning. early voting wrapped up over the weekend, but preparations are underway. this is the tabulation room, they are counting ballots. they tell us 65% of the absentee ballots have been submitted. based on the numbers, election

we can only imagine it was on a high rate of speed. look at the whole and not building the car went all the way inside. a smashed up car was pulled from a hollywood building. >> it was terrible. but like i've said before, i've heard it so many times, that i jumped out of bed, and knew it was a bad accident. >> reporter: just before 3 am a red cadillac slammed into this building. they say he was a young man in his 20s, and he was ejected and died on the scene. the female passenger was transported to the hospital. stephen scott who lives nearby says he has seen this happen way too often. >> unfortunately, i have seen it and heard it many times it was 3 am i was pretty tired. obviously, i wish i had come down maybe i could have assisted. 4 the driver was heading

the passenger. again, there are looking into what caused the accident. and, looking into whether drugs, alcohol, or speed played a factor. live in hollywood. we are following a developing story out of southwest kansas, where an amtrak train has derailed. according to amtrak, it was traveling from los angeles to chicago very early this morning. it went off the tracks about 20 miles west of dodge city. five cars were left on their side, there were 120 passengers and 14 crew members, 29 people were taken to area hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries. still ahead on this special edition, republican front runner donald trump is not

we are seeing a mix of sun and clouds. and lauderdale showing a huge change in comparison to last week. all week long we were showing the rest dangerous surf, but the winds have lightened up. the palm trees are not swaying as much. you can see them enjoying fun in the sun. middle to upper 70s, temperatures are creeping up. it is muggy. we did have fog forming earlier, we are seeing some reduce visibility. everywhere else, visibility has improved drastically. we are seeing the winds slowing anywhere from 3 to 8 miles per hour . that is helping to transport that moisture that's making it feel steamy. the frontal boundary, across north-central florida is producing some rain. yesterday, we did have some

and our models are indicating in the afternoon around 3 pm and 5 pm, there could be some scattered showers here and there a 20% chance of rain today. and it goes down to 10% tomorrow. it is a mess across portions of carolina, it into the midwest and the great lakes regions. the west coast is getting drenched everywhere from the pacific northwest california, the rockies, a mix of rain and wintry precipitation. the tennessee valley, and even portions of the midwest omaha, in kansas. here in south florida, we are in the 70s, but we are seeing 60s in new orleans, boston, chicago and albuquerque. highs for us will be above average at 86. we could see some afternoon showers.

here is a look at your news headlines. investigating the deadly shooting of a 20-year-old man over the weekend. authorities say he was shot once in the chest and died in the hospital. they spoke to a person of interest, but no arrests have been made. it was a busy and rowdy weekend with thousands of spring breakers. on friday seven people were arrested for being in a scuffle. a man who went out on a lake on it waverunner, and did not return.

went out on the lake near the airport. they found his waverunner covered in debris and believe he may have crashed into trees. he was not wearing a life vest in may have been speeding. police are looking for a man accused of robbing and sexually assaulting a woman. it happened around 7 am yesterday morning. they say a man grabbed her, sexually battered her and took up with her belongings. they believe he was a latin man, 35 years old, seen in a white suv. a 42 foot boat ran aground sending two women to the hospital. lord of fish and wildlife tells us the boat driver made a sudden sharp turn. he ran aground in a sandbar. it was so sudden that one woman who out of the boat, another slammed into the center console. they rushed the woman thrown

area at the nearby aquarium where their chopper flew her to the hospital. the other woman was taken to the hospital with a broken arm. they said alcohol was not a factor. back to our coverage of campaign 2016, the winners in the flight -- fight for florida will be crowned. hundreds of thousands of republican and democratic voters have all ready cast their ballots. >> absentee ballots are continuing to roll in. and, gaby fleischman is live with the latest. 4 -- >> reporter: they saw a record number of early voters, today the polls are closed preparations are underway. this behind me, is the tabulation room at miami-dade election headquarters, they are continuing to count absentee ballots that have been coming in throughout the weekend.

expecting a busy day. more than 83,000 people voted early, and 114,000 sent in absentee ballots. florida is a crowd --) may so you have to be registered to vote in the primary. the voters we spoke with our placing a lot of importance on the election, many of them telling us they decided to vote early to avoid lines and last- minute rushes. they want to make sure their preference is heard.>> i work on tuesday night, so might be kind of hard getting here. i wanted to make sure i voted. >> i think these elections are very important. and i think, it's the most important elections in the last 20 years. >> -- >> reporter: and i enjoyed -- and -- m joined live.

>> thank you. 1 first tell us about the preparations that are happening. >> i can tell you, we are ready, are equipment is trained, and we are setting up today to make sure we are ready.>> reporter: there was a record turnout in terms of early voting. and you are expecting a significant turnout?>> yes, we are looking towards pretty high there has been record turnout during early voting and for absentee ballots as well. we are looking to be on par with the 2008 turnout, or higher.>> reporter: what your best piece of advice to those who last -- waited till the last day and they plan to head out tomorrow quick >> remember, this is a close primary state city must be registered democrat or republican to vote. polls are open from 7 am until 7 pm. make sure that you know where

rubio 22%, ted cruz has 14%. the margin of error is 4%. it's a similar story in the latest news poll his ahead with 44% but ted cruz is ahead of marco rubio with 24% in that poll. he is not too far behind at 21%. that margin of error is 4.8%. ohio, missouri, and north carolina will hold there's tomorrow. 4 bernie sanders and hillary clinton took questions on a range of issues from ohio voters during the town hall sunday night. but violent that recent donald trump rallies took center stage in both candidates took aim.>> he has let the fire, -- lit the fire, and that he claims he should not be responsible, and he should be held responsible. >> i would hope that mr. trump

good morning. how did those voting numbers compared to last year wax in >> i think the number is surpassing what we have had in previous presidential preference primaries. because, there is a different mix of who is voting, and i think this number will surpass that number in previous years. >> was going to say, do expect a larger voter turnout? and how have you prepared?>> we have put everything in place, and now we are waiting for voters. at 7 am we will be ready to deceive voters. he would like a good turnout, for voters to come out, i know that the time has changed. but set your clocks, so that they can be reminded to get up and come on out at 7 am. it is really important. this is a critical election.

into a publix grocery store. marybel rodriguez is live with more. >> reporter: good morning. that driver slammed into a storage room just before 3 am. they are not saying exactly how fast that driver is going. we can only assume that he was going at a high rate of speed. you can see the smashed red cadillac inside the building. they say he was in his early 20s, and he was ejected and died on the scene. the female passenger was transported to memorial regional. the driver was heading westbound and must have lost control at the curb heading towards young circle and he slammed into the building. a resident who lives nearby says he has seen this happen way too often. >> it was terrible. but i've heard it so many times.

to news from across america, police in maryland are calling the fatal shooting of a police officer an unprovoked attack, they say a gun man fired at an officer they saw outside of a police station. it prompted a gun veteran left

he was days shy of his 29th birthday to the undercover narcotics officer. an amtrak train derailed sending more than two dozen people to the hospital. the train was headed from los angeles to chicago. we have more on what one passenger described as chaos. back cellphone video shows amtrak train number four scattered off of a kansas state highway. >> please respond to a train derailment. >> reporter: passenger show several of the tackle -- double- decker cars on their side. first responders can be seen trying to free those. >> we will start evacuating. >> reporter: amtrak says the train was made up of two locomotives. according to kansas highway patrol, five of those cars flipped over. 25-year-old daniel was one of the 120 passengers on board. >> i was reading my book and i

and clouds. and as we take another live view, broward county, more of the same and boy, have you noticed how humidity is? and warm all ready for the middle to upper 70s. good morning to you, 76, is 75 in fort lauderdale. the upper 70s, after a marathon, and checking in on the rest of the state, we are seeing the low 70s, upper 60s in gainesville and visibility has improved the most part except for a few areas. some areas are dealing with a little fog. right now, miami we are seeing visibility down to seven and nine, around 5 am, it was down to only a mile. that is due to low-level moisture. and the fact we have the breeze that has lightened up.

this week, the winds have come down. but, that openly wind flow is pumping in that tropical moisture that is making you feel so sticky. we have a boundary, that's producing precipitation, and for us, you're talking a 20% chance of rain today. yesterday we had the return of those downpours, and as we had into the afternoon hours, the could be a few showers here and there. our future radar models indicating around 1 pm or 3 pm we could see scattered showers even for the evening commute. just keep that in mind. not a complete washout, but keeps on umbrellas -- but keep the umbrellas close by. areas of low pressures are pumping and, and leading to precipitation. an area of low pressure is spending. and the west coast is getting
