here's a live look outside at fort lauderdale. no rain falling yet. we are in the low to mid 70s all across the board. right now, the wind is light but the winds will pick up and become stronger today . mid- 70s for everyone. through the day today, at 10 o'clock -- pigment storms at around 10. we have a few leftover storms by 6. more rain in just a minute. >>we're following breaking news for police are on the scene of a deadly shooting involving multiple people. we're live at the scene.>> reporter: we are at broward boulevard were there was a shooting early this morning. if you can over my shoulder, we will show you the scene. the streets have been closed for some time. i will talk with the detective will tell us a little bit about what happened. this party involved about 400

>> there was a very large amount of people at this party. >>we know 5 people were shot? >> 5 people were shot and we know one is deceased. we responded to the complaint of a loud party. when we arrived, there was some type of altercation that occurred inside of the home where there were shots fired and unfortunately somebody died. >> thank you for your time. we're hearing from witnesses, the party was put on social media so it attracted more than 400 people. these are kids -- possibly late teens , maybe college students for multiple different schools. at this time we don't have information on the victim and the suspect is on the loose. as soon as we know learn more we will let you know it. we're hours away from witnessing history. cuba is

visit from president barack obama. he is set to arrive on cuban soil in just a few hours. this will be the first visit by the a sitting president in 88 years. >> we're in havana for this three-day history making trip. >> reporter: the journal is here to cover the story will be working out of the press center that has been set up at the havana libre hotel. reporters will get a direct feed of all of the events on the residents agenda -- presidents agenda and journalists will file the stories from here it is cuba's big -- biggest technical challenge since the popes visit. more than anything else, this is an emotional story for the cuban-americans who have come from south florida for this historic trip. >>so many people in the floor have a foot in both worlds.

miami to cuba we ran into the former president of the american bar association who happens to be cuban-americans. he told us the relationship between us and cuba is like a dance involving 2 partners who have to work together. >>we're starting a long road. i don't think it is a quick road it. i think it's a complicated dance that we are going through, one step at a time. >>one of the past involved america's favorite pastime. >>this is a big deal for major league weeks ball which would like nothing better to tap into some of the baseball talent on this island. while baseball is symbolic it -- of the changing relationship, many believe the pivotal moment of this trip will, and tuesday when president obama will address the cuban people directly. he will do it during a speech at the national theater in havana. 1000 people will be in attendance, but more importantly it will be

state tv. that will be the moment where the president gets to explain this policy and his vision for the future to the cuban people. >>so many people in anticipation of this visit. elliott and i will he here bringing you live reports when the president arrives. let's take a closer look at the presidents busy schedule for his three-day trip to cuba. he will arrive in havana this afternoon. after his arrival, he will tour old havana and then he will visit the cathedral. tomorrow he will have a president -- meeting with raul castro and to meet cuban entrepreneurs. later he will attend a state dinner in his honor. on tuesday he will make a speech directly to the cuban people followed by a baseball game between the cuban national baseball team and the tampa bay rays. >>miami beach mayor will also travel to cuba layer today -- later today.

island, some of florida's elected officials are speaking out about the president historic visit to cuba. as you might expect, they are split along party lines. >>i'm just so disheartened and really sickened that the president of the greatest country in the world, the greatest strongest a microstrip would go to an illegitimate regime like the one in cuba and say let me extend a helping hand. >>we have a historic opportunity here by having a delegation led by the president go over to cuba to be able to directly confront the castro regime and talk with dissidents about their plight so we can make sure we pressed for human rights and release of cuban people. >> marco rubio speaking out as well. he put out the statement that reads in part, on sunday, president obama will touch down in cuba for what promises to be one of the most disgraceful trips ever taken by us president anywhere in the world

mountain news from around the world, authorities are beginning to investigate what led to a devastating passenger jet crash in southern russia early saturday morning. crash killed everyone on board and the pilot who is expecting his first child has reportedly just accepted a job with another airline. we have the latest. >> reporter: the russian security camera capture the

all 62 people on board including 55 passengers, 4 of them children and 7 crewmembers died in the violent crash. >>everyone in our company is in deep shock. >> reporter: while the impact will fries the boeing 737, investigators recovered the cockpit voice recorder and the flight data recorder. it happened about 2 hours after the flight from dubai was scheduled to arrive about 600 miles outside of moscow. it appears the plane made an unsuccessful attempt to land and then circled for a considerable period of time before making a 2nd attempt. the mayor of the region told russian reporters the plane into about 800 feet short of the runway in bad weather including rain and wind gust. an american team from the national transportation safety board and bowling are joining the investigation. -- boeing are joining the investigation.

dangerously close to fort lauderdale beach on saturday. take a look. you can see swirling winds whipping over the water before they quickly dispersed. no one was hurt but it damaged several beach chairs on the sand it. >> today is a going to be the same or worse?>> it will not look as bad as that but we will see rain around today. is the first day of spring. some of those spring storms hit yesterday. >>is that why you are wearing the yellow time? >> exactly. happy palm sunday by the way for those of you of the christian faith. we do have ourselves a look at the outlook today. you see the flashing lightning bolts all around the place. you have met 10 am, 2 pm, 6 pm. the best chance of getting something widespread and heavy gusty winds close to what we saw yesterday will be right

all across the board. at the end top, hit and miss -- 10 o'clock, hit and miss storms . by 6 o'clock we still have a few leftover showers and storms in the area. take a look at your upcoming week ahead in just a few minutes. we're following breaking news and plantation were police are on the scene of a deadly shooting involving multiple people. cbs4 is live at the scene. >> reporter: good morning, we are on northwest fort court and northwest 118th avenue right off of broward boulevard. take a look, pin over to the side, this is plantation police out here. they have locked off northwest fort court. the house we are told that was involved in the shooting is at the very end of the block. we have been kept a significant distance away from this house. part of that reason is because there were 400 people -- maybe

this entire street was full of cars. ebenezer if you can pan over to my right, this is northwest 118th avenue. you can see there is a police car right there and all of those cars parked in the middle of the street are literally blocking one side of the street . these are all cars with people who were at the party. folks were not able to take their vehicles home as well -- police were taken down information to make sure they have all witnesses -- all the witnesses they need for this case. we were told there was a party here, 400 people. police were called because of loud noise and a disturbance. they get here and when they arrived there is a shooting. someone gets shot inside the house and killed. for other people were involved in injured during the shooting. at this time we do not have the condition of those for victims and the suspect is still on the loose. the details of how this came about and what this house party was about are still sketchy but

gonads -- gomez is thrilled to have her own office in the very law firm which used to volunteer when she was in high school. >>my mom was a legal assistant here many years ago. >>it was in these hallways where she met john kozak. >>john has been my mentor for almost 10 years now. he is like a 2nd father to me. >>was she was in law school sure to one summer. i knew she was a nice person but she is a good lawyer. i think i have been her helper and advisor on almost everything. i even approved her husband. >>he told him you better treat her right. >> this type of mentor, minty story is not unusual in this law firm. in fact, it is part of the culture, mentoring and grooming minority law students. for john kozak it began as a need to make a difference. >>i grew up a white guy anatoly segregated community and i thought that was like being on mars. i couldn't understand the hatred. i couldn't understand how

people on the basis of race. when i had a chance to start doing something about it, i tried to pay back. >> reporter: and payback he has. he started the minority mentorship program that includes an annual picnic connecting lawyers and judges with law students. >>i was wearing and i need a mentor sticker and he asked if i wanted him to be mine and i said of course, what you do? he told me his name was on the door and i sort of -- at that moment thought this could be a big change in my life. >>tony [ indiscernible last name ] met his mentor, hardly trope in through the program. he is also a founding partner through the law firm -- at the law form. he says he loves being a mentor to tony who was recently hired as an assistant attorney in broward.
