abc action news reporter adam winer is live now at 1 buck place where we're expecting to hear more from the bucs management today. >> what are you hearing and seeing from the league about this decision? >> reporter: actually, despite the record a lot of people are very surprised by the decision to fire lovie smith. in part because whoever is going to hire next makes it three head coaches in five years. there was a lot of disappointment with the team this year especially after the team pulled themselves into position to compete and lost their four games of the season. the general manager expected to oversee the process for finding a new head coach and this afternoon he's set to hold a news conference about why the team made the decision. the buzz on-line this morning is that the team's own

cutter may be lead candidate. if anything it was on the offensive side of the ball. what really held them back in part was the defense which was supposed to be lovie smith's specialty. a lot of questions this morning i'm sure about how the players are reacting to this news. i'm going to share that with you in the next half-hour. for now live in tampa, adam winer, abc action news. in lakeland, at this hour, still no suspects caught after three people were killed, a fourth recovering after being shot in the face. it happened at a home along east magnolia drive shortly before 7:00 a.m. yesterday. polk county sheriff says david washington and ida branch and angelica castro were killed in the house. 18-year-old felix campos was taken to the hospital shot in the face. sheriff grady judd says the house is known as a one stop shop for drugs like marijuana, heroin and cocaine. coming up at 6:00 -- lindsay logue will join us live monitoring new information from deputies overnight.

5:14. in new york, 17 miners are currently trapped in a mine. emergency response crews are attempting to reach them. they are stuck in an elevator that stopped working in a salt mine in lansing. authorities say there are no injuries, and they are in contact with the miners. at this moment rescuers are bringing in a crane to get the 17 miners out. we'll bring you updates throughout the morning. 5:14. new updates in the sand bra bland death investigation. >> the texas department of investigation says it's firing a trooper in the case. the department says it's

proceedings against brian ensinia. aarrested for lying about the traffic stop. you can see the traffic stop here quickly becoming confrontation with him holding a stun gun and saying "i will light you up" after bland refused to get out of her car. she died three days later in jail. the first baltimore police officer tried in the death of freddie gray has been ordered to testify in two other trials. a judge ordered officer william porter to testify in the trials of officer caesar goodson and sergeant alicia white. porter's attorneys say their client will invoke his right not to testify in both trials if asked. the defense also plans to file an appeal on the judge's ruling today. 5:15. shay ryan, we might as well just wave goodbye to the cooler temperatures. >> we've got a couple of days left but boy, it's certainly going to come in next week and stick around for a couple of days. if you like that cooler air, yeah, it's on its way again.

seeing this morning. it's still a pretty cool start to the day. temperatures are in the mid-50s across tampa, clearwater and st. pete. we've got a lot of cloud cover. wind speeds are between 5 to 10 miles per hour. if they go below 5 miles per hour these low clouds may start to settle as fog. i'm keeping a close eye on that, at this point visibility looks great all across the area. so it's just a possibility, not a guarantee that we'll see fog this morning. what we are going to see is higher rain chances tomorrow, due to the low pressure system i've been telling you about that is going to quickly move across the state. it will be hit or miss. it's saturday that we're going to see the more widespread rain. i do think saturday we'll start off with low chances for rain but once that front gets closer to us, around sunset if not a little before we'll see a pretty good line of showers rolling through that will give us widespread rain for a period of time. some heavy downpours, even an isolated storm in the mix. but we will dry out early on sunday and check out what

temperatures remaining near steady around noon. we reach that temperatures of 72. after that we sit there for a bit. we may even start to see the temperatures fall closer to sunset. it may be a little breezy as well. so overall with clearing skies though i think the better outdoor day will be sunday. saturday won't be a complete washout until we get to the latter portion of the afternoon. we'll continue to fine tune the timing for weekend rain chances as it gets closer to us. you can see the cooldown into next week. that is florida's most accurate 7-day forecast. let's look at the traffic with janelle martinez. >> we have some great news. construction on hillsborough avenue at the veterans is clear. corey dierdorff is out there checking it out. the eastbound lanes were closed overnight but as you can see everything back open. they wrapped up a little early. that was supposed to open up back at 6:00 but looks like things are great there. you are good to go. also we had construction at waters.
