the rivergate tower tampa cam. we have a lot of low clouds. between 5 to 10 miles per hour, just a little too breezy for that fog to settle but if they come down below 5 miles per hour that is when we'll have a better chance for that fog to settle at ground level. temperatures right now are in the 50s. inverness at 52. as we look farther around the area you can see it's pretty consistent in the mid-50s, winter haven at 56. brooksville 54. around tampa bay temperatures are also in the mid-50s. so not a lot of variability in temperatures this morning. i say the same deal through the day. we'll be up to the upper 60s by noon with the more sunshine starting to come through the clouds. i think we'll make it to low 70s today. if the clouds really linger we might be closer to about 70 degrees instead. again we're looking at low chances of rain that helps for the morning drive as well as the afternoon drive.

no weather-related concerns as far as the roads. corey dierdorff is behind the wheel of the live drive cam on the selmon expressway heading to brandon, all clear there. and i-75 through brandon clear there as well. again no problems to tell you about. you should have no trouble getting to where you need to be. let's eck the drive along i- 4, around the polk parkway. you can see all clear here, up to speed in both directions. if you're heading out the door now, this is how long it's going to take to get to the tampa area. 22 minutes, from county line road, 15 minutes from county line road to 75, and 8 minutes from 75 to 275. checking your drive times on the veterans expressway now, where all the construction from overnight has cleared, all in the green. 17 minutes from 54 to 275. 12 minutes from van dyke to 275. and if you're starting off at

just six minutes to get to 275. 5:32. one of the most shared stories on our facebook page this morning is the recent firing of head coach lovie smith. many of you and players are saying they are surprised and disappointed by the firing. adam winer is at bucs headquarters. we should hear a lot more about this from bucs management a little later today. >> reporter: that's right. so far all we've heard from the bucs is a statement from joel glazier saying he's thankful to smith for his time but also disappointed the team didn't find more success with him. the general manager jason light is going to oversee the process of finding a new coach. we're going to hear from him this afternoon about why the team made this decision and their search for a new coach.

said that the house on east magnolia drive was a one stop shop from anything from marijuana to heroin. we know the shooter or shooters ransacked the house and took drugs and money before taking off. the victims are david washington, stacey branch and angelica castro. in what the sheriff calls a blood-spattered house. a fourth person, felix campos is in critical condition. he could be the key to solving this case. a lone survivor who may not know the gunman. at the least could be able to give deputies a detailed description. deputies haven't said if he's well enough to talk. he was shot in the face. people who live on east magnolia drive tell us they didn't hear a single gunshot. they had no idea what was going on, until they heard the sirens and saw the crime scene tape go up. 24 hours now after the crime we do expect an update later this morning from the polk county sheriff's office on this case and as soon as we get new

bring it to you. live at the polk county sheriff's office, lindsay logue, abc action news. 5:36. later today the state will execute a convicted serial killer who targeted tampa bay women. but oscar ray bowlen is insisting he's innocent. he says the evidence used to convict him in all three cases was tampered with. unless he gets a last minute break from appeals court or u.s. supreme court he will die by lethal injection at 6:00 tonight. reporter carson chambers was selected as a witness and is traveling to the that state prison in stark today to cover the execution. we're expecting the department of corrections and family members to speak out. we'll livestream what they have to stay on our abc action news app and web site. largo police need your help to try to track down a pair of armed robbers, surveillance cameras that you see there captured this video of one man holding a clerk at gunpoint. this while the other suspect goes behind the counter to empty the cash register.

gas station -- crit -- citgo gas station october 28th f. you know anything call crime stoppers. the mother of phoebe jonchuck is planning to sue dcf over her daughter's death. we heard from that mother, michelle kerr. it's been a near since phoebe was thrown off the dick meisner bridge. dcf admitted fault for not following up on two critical phone calls, one from a lawyer warning the father john jonchuck jr. was delusional and phoebe was in danger. dcf made changes after phoebe's death but kerr says rts, it's not enough. >> how many times are going to -- are we going to keep doing wrong until it's resolved? it's not the first time they managed this. how many times is it going to take? >> the judges ruled phoebe's

he's in a hospital undergoing counseling. due back in court late february. new information on the cases of two deafen children making national news -- two different children making national news. the first one disappeared over the summer last year in jacksonville. his mother entered a guilty plea to child neglect and another charge. lana barton now faces up to six years in prison. she could be called to testify against her boyfriend who was also arrested after the child disappeared. he's set to go on trial next week and charged with lying to police. meanwhile the mother of the 2-year-old girl who became known as "baby doe" pleaded not guilty to charges in her daughter's death. michelle bond is now being held in jail on $1 million bail. she's charged with accessory after the fact in her daughter's murder. also charged with grand larceny for continuing to accept public assistance even after knowing her daughter had been killed. her boyfriend michael mccarthy is charged with killing bella, when she would not go to sleep one night.

massachusetts in june setting off a massive effort to identify the child. parents in pasco county using social media to warn the community about a sex offender living near an elementary school. we looked into this and found even with a tough new ordinance the man is still not breaking laws. that ordinance says sex offenders can't live within 2,500 feet of where children congregate. because michael johnson was convicted before 2010 and in a different state the restrictions don't apply to the home that he's renting in trinity. still his neighbors have been spreading the word on social media that he is there. >> makes me uncomfortable. i've already showed my 13-year- old the picture of this man and he walks to and from school occasionally. i've asked him to stay clear just to be safe. >> we talked to the sheriff's office at length about this case. they say they do random checks four times a year on all registered sex offenders in the county. 5:40. let's check the weather with shay ryan.

thousands of people in sarasota county can rest a little easier. a new fire station to keep them safe opens today. fire station number 17 on desoto road will serve families in the nathan benderson park area. it features three truck bays and operations facility for the sarasota county sheriff's office. it's a certified green building that can withstand winds of 50 miles per hour. a new video of a semi fire on an interstate near boston. >> intense flames caused a seven-mile backup during the evening commute yesterday. the driver said he heard a loud noise and the engine before it started to shoot out the flames. >> the truck was filled with office supplies. firefighters say $100,000 worth

the good news is nobody was hurt. take a look at this video here. if you look closely you can see a semi truck under water there. the driver plowed through a guardrail and drove off a bridge in virginia yesterday afternoon. a marine patrol rescued the driver from the 49-degree water. he was rushed to a hospital in stable condition. an absolute nightmare on the roads in california. thanks to el nino generated storms. check out this truck and cars trying to wade through i-5 in los angeles yesterday. many cars weren't able to hand thele flooded roads stalling out. drivers stranded. a stark contrast to the months of dangerous drought conditions that california saw recently. the stormy weather could continue through this weekend. now in missouri, we're learning just how intense the clean-up process will be after days of deadly flooding there. officials estimated that more than 7,000 homes and buildings are damaged.

plan saying about 1.5 million tons of debris will need to be picked up and hauled away. now there's concern hazardous material could have washed into homes and basements. dumpster dropoff points for that debris should be in place in about a week. thing about river flooding, it can rain hundreds of miles from you but if you live on a river downstream we're keeping a wary eye. >> exactly. the flood levels are receding now in missouri where you just saw all that damage. so that is good news for them. but that flooding was because of rain that occurred just after christmas. it takes time for the rain to start piling up or the water to start piling up in these rivers. so the mississippi river now the flood rivers are rising along arkansas into mississippi. even possibly portions of tennessee. then eventually louisiana will see some of those issues. that's what they are watching. >> more rain moving in?

on top of the already rising river levels. across those states that i just mentioned. you can see where it's rising in the red areas. again, if you have friends and family in that area, you want to alert them there could be a possibility. if they are not paying attention to the news there's the possibility they missed the fact the conditions are going to be worsening as that rain moves in and the already -- the river levels are already rising. as far as we're concerned that system is going to affect us over the weekend but at least for now we are not going to see a lot of rain today. maybe a shower or two, a mix of sun and clouds. not quite as cool as what we've seen lately. as long as the sun starts to break through those clouds around noon today we're going to warm up to the low, even some mid-70s where we get more sunshine. we're starting off the day much like yesterday in the mid-50s. which is above average for this time of year. again as long as that sunshine does break through these low clouds we have this morning, we will make it to highs above

and, for tomorrow we're still on the warm side, the first batch of rain that rolls through tomorrow is associated with an area of low pressure that develops in the gulf. the second one, that is our cold front on saturday. and we're going to have a good there. the good news is that it does move out early on sunday making way for a pretty dry day ahead. then the cooldown really settles in at the first of next week. good morning. we have reports of a serious crash around the usf area, fletcher near bruce b downs, corey dierdorff is on fletcher heading to the crash. again we hear it's a serious crash with injuries. we're told this is in front of the walmart supercenter there. again corey heading there now. i can tell you the westbound lanes are blocked there on fletcher so if you're heading that way you might want to avoid that area if you can.

soon as corey gets there. this is i-275 and 22nd avenue north over in pinellas county. they just switched the angle on me here but either way we're up to speed now in both directions pushing 70 from the sunshine skyway all the way down to the howard frankland bridge. your drive times now on the majoring -- 5:50. families living near the armed protest at an oregon wildlife refuge were glad to hear the sheriffs say it's time for the activists to pick up and go home. there was a community meeting last night about this. authorities haven't yet taken physical action to remove the group of nearly two dozen people but the activists made it pretty clear they don't plan
