>> we're working to find out more information in a possible road rage shooting that happened in temple terrace. authorities haven't confirmed yet but we found a car with a shattered window at the intersection of fowler avenue. deputies are searching for a motorcyclist seen fleeing south on i-75. abc action news reporter adam winer is on the scene now, we'll check in with him live starting at 5:30. let's check with shay for a look at the forecast. pretty cold out there. >> yeah. grab the boots and extra layer. because we're definitely back to the cooler weather. temperatures have been falling a few degrees this morning. will fall a little more before we get to sunrise and then they will start gradually creeping up today to the low 60s in most areas. 48 now in spring hill. wesley chapel at 49. auburndale at 51. a little warmer around northport and siesta key at 57 degrees.

as we move through the day we'll be into the mid-50s by noon and the low 60s by 4:00 today. lots of sunshine out there. some light breezes, but overall a pretty cool day ahead. i'll let you know how quickly we'll warm up coming up in florida's most accurate 7-day forecast. 4:32. live look at traffic i-275 near 22nd avenue south in st. petersburg. no big issues to report there. major bridges are up to speed across the bay. details on traffic again in about 15 minutes. meantime, a man who deputies say was caught headhanded trying to break into a garage is fighting for his life. >> the pinellas county homeowner says he spotted the alleged intruder in the act and shot him. neighbors weren't surprised the intruder was stopped. pinellas county deputies say 2:00 yesterday afternoon the homeowner found someone trying to break in, fired a warning

in the leg. neighbors say this would be thief picked the wrong house to steal from. >> i commend him. i really do. i think he did a great job. i'm so grateful that he protected his family. and protected his neighbors. >> right now the names of the homeowner and person shot are not being released. the homeowner didn't want to talk with us and deputies are continuing to investigate what happened. this morning a st. petersburg man is waking up behind bars accused of child neglect after a 3-year-old girl in his care allegedly ate synthetic marijuana and nearly died. deputies say christopher clark was supposed to be watching the toddler but somehow the girl found the drug known as "spice" in his pocket and ate it. she got violently sick, clark called 911 believing she had a life threatening illness. she is expected to survive. detectives say clark admitted to smoking the synthetic pot at

in manatee county deputies are searching for two young men that held up a group at gunpoint. the sheriff's office says five friends were playing cards outside of a carport saturday when the two armed robbers approached. the masked men ordered the group to the ground, took everything from their pockets including more than $2,000, id's and credit cards. it happened while wife and baby were inside the home if you know anything about the robbers or what happened call the sheriff's office. italian police are searching for answers after a young woman from florida was found dead in florence. >> ashley olsen is her name, 35- year-old artist and model, originally from summer haven halfway between jacksonville and daytona beach. authorities say her boyfriend had -- and her landlord found her body in her apartment. she had not been heard from in days. friends are stunned by the news saying she was very popular in the tight-knit art community there. >> i can't imagine a person who would hurt her.

is now officially underway. carla bargarena, abc news, new york. >> with the golden globes over hollywood is awaiting the oscar nominations. watch it on your abc action news station thursday morning during "good morning, america." chris rock hosts the 88th annual academy awards sunday february 28th here on your abc action news station. here's shay with a look at your monday morning forecast. >> let's look now at what we're seeing as we start the day. we have some cloud cover across the area and that's been acting like a blanket so it's kept our temperatures just a little warmer than what it could have been otherwise, because the cooler air coming in from the north is certainly settling in. we're going to have plenty of sunshine today but our temperatures are going to be below average from start-to- finish. off to the north, an area of high pressure, winds around it bringing that colder air in and you can see how quickly those clouds are thinning out this morning.

and sunny trend today, but that cool air is really settling in. take a look at the temperatures out there now. inverness at 43. brooksville 45. tampa 49. and sarasota 55. arcadia also at 55. we've got the 40s in polk county as well. on average we should be 51 to start the day. 70 to finish the day. that was an error. the record low is not 285 degrees. that's a typo. all right, let's look at the temperatures over the next couple of days. we're starting off in the 40s ending the day in the low 60s, below average all the way through to thursday even. by friday we're back to above average temperatures but that is also going to be our wettest day of the week. we have a good area of low pressure that works across the gulf along a frontal boundary and gives us soaking rains at times. then we have an in between day

speak to voters about how he would run the country as president. rubio took the opportunity to criticize president obama saying he didn't want to fix america's problems after being elected in 2008. only to change the country and make it more like the rest of the world. rubio continues to trail republican frontrunner donald trump in the polls. on the democratic side vermont senator bernie sanders told iowa voters last night he and not hillary clinton is more electable. he noted recent polling shows in a head-to-head matchup he leads trump by a larger margin than clinton. republicans are holding debates in south carolina and south carolina. democrats have one this saturday in south carolina. a marathon course sunday, winner no strangers to the finish line.
