a path of destruction tornadoes on florida's gulf coast. lots of damage and power is out for thousands. >> winds from 125 miles an hour from sarasota county to manitoba county. --manatee county. the winds picked up their mobile home a threat across the street. their son in for grandkids made it out alive, now fighting to recover.

several trees like this one. two people have died and a home ended up here. and neighbors are coming together to support each other in this time of grief and looking for the blessings. >>reporter: that happened this morning, the mobile home was ripped off the blocks and thrown over here to the road. all that is left now is debris as this community mourns the loss of beloved neighbors and grandparents. >> i cannot believe all of this. >>reporter: the debris stretches for hundreds of yards. >> wonderful people, you couldn't ask for better neighbors or friends. >> this tornado was so powerful. it tore through this mobile home and snapped a telephone pole.

dead in the wreckage. >> i was yelling, where is steve? where is steve? a neighbor told me that steve was gone already. >>reporter: his wife, kelly, metered out and sharon tried to comfort her. >> she kept trying to get up and we told her to lay still. >>reporter: in the ambulance on the way to the hospital , kelly died from a heart attack. in the middle of such terrible loss. there is an incredible story of survival. the wilson's son and 4 grandchildren were also inside and somehow escaped. tran20 six are you amazed to see those kids got out of this? >> i am amazed. anybody got out of this. >>reporter: there will be time to grieve.

>>reporter: that's right. emergency officials say it could cost more than $3 million to fix the damage. just in this county alone. if you take a look behind me you can see the damage streets toppled by--you can see the roots of that tree. the gov. will do whatever he can to help. balcony railings ripped from patios with shredded aluminum siding, it is some of the damage left behind from severe storms.. >> i woke up at heard this loud noise that i have never heard before--i have never heard before. >>reporter: it began around

left behind. neighbors, red cross and county crews picking up the pieces per the governor stopped by to tour the damage. neighbors telling him about their morning.>>windows are blown out. cars are demolished. we have one building where the roof is gone completely. 26. the complex houses hundreds who are snowbirds on vacation, forced to evacuate. they are losing thousands. the storms forced the landlord to cause renters to cancel their vacation. >> we don't have any place to put them because they are rented. >>reporter: the gov. is taking time to talk to neighbors. they want money to fix their tornado damaged home away from home. >> hopefully we can get some relief like you often hear about some fema money or

expenditures. >> the rental manager said it will take months to fix the damage. gov. scott said it is too early to decide if he is going to declare a disaster declaration. neighbors will have to do the best they can to work with the city to fix what they can. reporting live in siesta keys abc action news. sarah, thank you. our chief meteorologist was online and on air throughout the entire storm. are we in the clear tonight? >> we are in the clear for right now, but not in this storm season. this is a wake-up call for all of these things coming in the middle of the night and we get problems with this. as we go through.

we can see that we are in the clear. all the rain has moved off. you see the storm coming through and its continued on that path from a siesta key and this remained on the ground for a long time. we marveled at how long it stayed on the ground. this is going to definitely be a record year and a year that we are going to watch this very carefully.

electronic warnings. >> everything that they said was absolutely true. it's hard to believe until you see it. >>reporter: the storm was gone in a flash. 10 to 15 seconds of loud noise. you could hear stuff breaking.>> very disorienting. very scary. 26, cindy, shannon said she learned a lesson about dealing with mother nature. take the cell phone warnings seriously. it was three minutes later that happened. >>reporter: her neighbor's home is gone. firefighters rescuing the people trapped inside. the assistant chief said part of the roof collapsed on the homeowner that they were able to safely rescue her. >> have been on the fire department for over 30 years and this is one of the worst storm damages. i have seen in this area. 26 on the siesta keys the damage is far-reaching. there is wreckage of most of the neighborhoods and condo buildings were evacuated for this vacation.

bill you track this all night and all morning but now you are tracking another system. super cold air making its way into this will change things as we make our way to the workweek. you can see this, winds coming in from the north and northwest we had warnings up earlier. the seas got choppy we had waves up to 10 to 15 feet. a beautiful sunset and we are taking care of some clearing conditions as we look through

we have windchill changes ahead. we will be looking at freeze warnings this week and when chills as early as tomorrow. looking into the almanac today. the day that will go down in history and the bay area we have reached a high of 680 that occur this morning and temperatures have been going down ever since. we are cooler than that. i just over an inch of rain at tampa international airport lots of rain and heavy storms that work through the entire viewing area. current temperatures mostly in the upper 50s. we are going to see these continue to go down as we work through the evening because the winds have shifted coming out of the north and northwest and

as the sky is clear and cool weather makes its way to us. 52 in pensacola and 69 in miami has we have cooled off the entire state of florida. not quite as cold in the middle of the country where the single digits are the rule but the cold air is making its way down through as the front has passed through. it's down south of florida down to the florida straits towards cuba, there is another front reinforcing colder weather. it will be making its way in over the next several days so cool weather tonight will show us temperatures in the 40s for tampa bay. and the feels like temperature and wind chill will be in the upper 30s by tomorrow morning. looking for a high of 58 with northeast wind at 10 miles an hour and lots of sunshine. we will be mostly clear and the evening. things have calmed down on the water. a small craft advisory in effect until tomorrow.

the waterways. we have a high tide coming up before 8 pm and low tide at 8 pm and low tide at 3:45 am in the sunrise will be at seven be at 7:22 am. of 58. we are looking for a overnight low tuesday and wednesday as you head off to work. you are looking for readings in the upper 30s to low 40s and tampa and freeze warnings will be out for our northern neighborhoods. we will keep you posted on the changes and any advisories to the next week. panthers made against the tampa bay lightning but the bolts have dominated their rivals winning 14 of the last 20 games. none of those matchups have been more important and tonight's game.
