shore boulevard to show us how the tiny ones braved the cold temperatures. jake. >> yeah, good evening to you. you know the parade is just now wrapping up here on bay shore. you can see the last few floats are going down bay shore right now. as you can imagine, there were tons of beads and tons of freezing little pirates. we can tell you this is one of the nation's largest children's parades. the 2016 parade will be known for elaborate floats and cute costumes and the weather which can be summed in one or two words. >> cold. >> cold. >> the cold and windy. >> this mom says it took a little longer getting her pirates ready this morning. they are bundled up. >> rain or shine we were going to be out here. >> we love to hang out with our crew, the crew at hillsborough and it is a great event and lots of kids and the girls just have a blast. >> organizers say that the

not seem to stop the crowds and the craziness. they estimate one hundred thousand people attended the parade. >> you can hear everything. screaming. like a rock concert. >> and some parade goers did not mind the cooler temperatures. >> layering was key one person said. >> i have this layering and i am good to go. >> walter agrees. >> you can layer up when it is cold but when it is hot, you know what it is mean. >> if your walking around here you would rather not sweat. >> what is a little wind when you can keep busy and warm. >> the festivities are not over. in one hour there will be fireworks at bay shore. if you want to come down for that. the big gas pa rillo parade is next saturday.

bill logan joins us in the kids' parade and the chilly temperatures, but you know what? what is the trend look like going forward. >> it will be chillier. the kids will have to bundle up. let's look outside at our heightened doppler radar and you can see as we back things up. some rain pushed through but the clouds moved away. we got clearing skies. just in time for the parade. with those clearing skies. come cooler temperatures. right now we are at 50 in tampa and palm harbor and 47 in brooksville and 48 in kathleen and lutes49 and check out the temperatures tonight and tomorrow. tampa will bottom out at 37. 32 in inverness and that's why we got a freeze warning for the

>> if you have taken your car out turn aroundism --ism in west virginia. travel crippled and white-out conditions. no planes out of washington or new york and philadelphia. instead equipment lined up to clear the runways. people in the east virginia area expecting three feet or more of accumulation. >> a few feet is okay but once you get past 24 and they are calling for 36 or 40, you wonder how much can the roof hold. >> but not all about the snow. from long island to queens new front yards and entire water. still new jersey governor chris christie reassuring the state that things are under control. >> this is my 17th snow emergency in six years. this is certainly not superstorm sandy. everyone.

to dip near freezing shelters in the bay area open providing those that need a warm place to speak. >> kara joins us live from town and country at a shelter that just opened its doors. kara. >> you can see why these shelters are needed. we have seen a dramatic difference in the last 20 minutes. since the sun went down it is getting cold and the wind can make you feel goosebumpbs. the doors opened to the jackson center at town and country and room for 30 people to sleep, does not have adequate heat and sleep. also we did check winter salvation army earlier. take a look there. downtown tampa area. they have room for 125 people and they open the doors at 4:00 and by 4:15, they were already the very cold weather. opening free beds to anyone that needed a place to sleep and it filled out quickly.

the most accurate weather team in florida. abc action weather. a windy and a chilly day but guess what? it is worse somewhere and it is up north. >> it is worse up there. our brethren in baltimore right from where i went to college and did my undergrad work at towson at what is going on where there have received a foot of snow. all total a foot-and-a-half and this is a mess. they are going to get maybe another four to six inches as the snow is continuing to fall. it is a mess through the entire i-95 corridor. fredericksburg and wilmington and into new york is where the blizzard warnings are. we have the warnings through the virginia and the carolinas

and most of the tar heel state for the freezing rain, snow and yuck. we have the sky way closed because of the winds and the blustery conditions around here. in the air. route. that blustery raw sort of north wind whipping out of the northwest and it will continue and die down and as it does that, we will be looking for really chilly temperatures. 50 in tampa, clear water and saint petersburg. we have seen wind gusts up to 25 and here is a look at the temperature change between 6:00 last night and tonight, anywhere from 10 to 15 degrees cooler. so we are definitely feeling the chill. got up to 60 today at the airport and that was earlier on and the temperature has been dropping through the afternoon. down to the 50 degrees that we

44 in tallahassee. we got some warm weather moving up into colorado where it is warmer than it is here. dallas at 50 and still cold enough for all of that snow where it is accumulating throughout the northeast and let's go ahead and show you what the accumulations are looking like as we zoom in closer to this. anywhere between a foot and a foot-and-a-half working its way all the way up that i-95 corridor and definitely a blizzard for those folks as the noreaster brings that snow in from the northeast. the same front that pushed through yesterday brought us the cooler weather and we have cleared out and with that clearing sky, the cold is going to definitely be in effect for as we look at the overnight low going to drop down. 8:00. 43 by midnight and a wind chill of 31 as you kickback the covers and tampa at 37 degrees.

the north. temperatures right around freezing for crystal river and hernando. a little bit warmer in the southern neighborhoods and that is we have a freeze warning for citrus and hernando counties. weather will get better for the boaters but there will be a gail warning with winds out of the notice at winds 20 knots. sun coming up at 7:21 and set at 6:03. warming in the work week but we get a front wednesday and into thursday. it's a slower mover so we won't have those winds to deal with but definitely the breezes will be with us thursday and into friday. that is florida's most accurate forecast. don't forget you can check it out on abcactionnews.com anytime. 30 minutes the lightning will have a chance to tie the franchise record for the longest win streak with 8

panthers. the last time the bolts won 8 straight, the 2004 season with lord stanley cup. the lightning need to get past the most surprising team to get the victory and no one saw the panthers atop of the division leading in january. the bolts made a move in the stands climbing from ten points needless to say tonight's game is huge and having the panthers and lightning finding success and among the best is great for hockey. you look at those rivalries, say it is islander ranger or calvary edmonton and we have a team right in our backyard and for us to be able to both be in the playoffs and who knows what happened if we ever met at a playoff series but i think it will be great

great series to watch. a great moment over at one buckingeer place, john bucka near. with the recent coaching changes, john lynch says the future looks bright for the pewter and red. >> i have had an opportunity through my broadcast duties to be around dirk and mike smith. they have built a wonderful staff of guys that know what they are doing and now it is time to do the work for this town and it is special when it is back in the playoffs and winning another championship. that will be a great day for me as well.
