this is abc action news. >> a home invasion in an upscale spring hill neighborhood. >> doctors treating two people for serious injuries. thanks for joining us. we will get to that developing story. but first a weather alert. >> rain coming in and it will slow down your morning commute. dennis has the details. >> we are looking at heavy rain at manatee and sarasota counties. you see bradenton and down towards siesta key and look at the gulf. this is all moving in. here is the good news. so far out of this it does not look like it is severe.

tomorrow, especially later in the morning in the afternoon, we are going to be looking at the threat of severe weather. in fact the storm prediction center says there is -- a small, less than slight, marginal by definition but some embedded areas that will indeed spawn a couple of severe thunderstorms and maybe a brief tornado. this is a something that we will have to watch closely and waking up to the storms and off and on all day long and we will pinpoint the area with the highest risk coming up. >> we want to get to breaking news in st. petersburg. police telling us a woman in a motorized wheelchair hit by a car. maricela what can you tell us? >> reporter: we are waiting for updates but if you can see mine me, this is a very active scene and we're trying to be careful because as i mentioned this is an active scene and the victim's body is still in the middle of the intersection.

side you can see that lexus involved in this incident. this is along 26th avenue south and 31st street. this intersection is closed and we are told it is going to be closed for several hours. we do not know the victim's name. we know that she is a 43-year- old woman and she was in a motorized wheelchair. an accident involving a 43-year- old woman in a motorized wheelchair in a lexus sedan. as we get more information we will bring it up to you. now to breaking news out of oregon. right now one person is dead after a confrontation between a militia group and the fbi. shots were fired after a traffic stop and not clear who fired first. officials say it all began while bundy and his group on the way to a community meeting

the man that died was the subject after federal probable cause arrest. the shooting put a nearby hospital on lock down. it has been 25 days since they took over a wildlife refuge after two ranchers sent to prison. that violent home invasion in spring hill. a mother and daughter seriously injured and recovering in a bay area trauma unit. abc action news reporter michael politza live in pasco county. this was not a random attack and the family was targeted. the good news is that the suspect that did the attack was captured within 20 minutes of the first 911 call. >> it was just before five this afternoon that hernando county deputies respond to a 911 call that someone was getting attacked next door. they found two women in serious condition. and the suspect had fled the

>> reporter: deputies said the two adult women knew their attacker, beaten so severely they were air lift to the hospital for life-threatening injuries. people returning home to this gated community were shocked to learn about the home invasion attack. the silverthorne golf club community is not a place where this happens let alone an attack on two women. >> i am going to talk to my mom real quick. >> after running from deputies the suspect was arrested down from the home. >> there was a chase and one of the deputies had to scale a fence to go get him. >> reporter: and the suspect faces charges of aggravated battery. the victims conditions could escalated charges to attempted murder and the suspect is being booked into jail as soon as we speak. we will give you information as soon as it is released.

a developing story in milwaukee, f.b.i. agents saying they have foiled a mass shooting plot. just learning that 23-year-old same mohammed hanza bought two all weapons and a silencer. investigators saying he was planning a mass shooting on a ma sannic temple in milwaukee. they were going to kill everyone in sight. telling the undercover agents attacking in the name of the moslem religion. a major below to pinellas deputies. jerry gaston has been identified as a person of interest in the disappearance of his roommate rene cable, there is concern that they will never know what happened to rene after his passing. >> roberta left her home on december 14th, 2013. supposed to start a new job.

calling him hannibal lector. police are calling an indianapolis elementary school principal a hero. susan jordan died pushing young children out of the path after school bus. two children hurt when a bus jumped a curb and plowed into the kids. both injured children are in serious but stable condition. no charges have been filed but investigators have taken a blood sample from the driver. taking action from your health. chicken pox spreading through a pinellas county school and officials are telling children who are not vaccinated to stay at home three weeks. the school district confirmed the outbreak at plum elementary school in clear water. there are 8 confirmed cases but there could be more. all of them had religious or medical exemptions from getting vaccination. less than 20 students are being told to stay home until february 15th.

check out the video. officer michael kelley indicted by a grand jury for racial oppression stemming from the october 8th incident. officer kelley tazed and arrested jonathan miller in his front yard. force to the ground and with his arms at his side he is told to put the arms at his back before he is tazed. miller explains the story. >> i put my hands up and i backed up and you know was wondering what did i do? how am i interfering and that's when i was slam to the ground. i wasn't wrestling with the police officer. >> well, kelley could face up to a year in prison. miller hopes the district attorney will drop his charges. terrifying moments for an ohio sheriff's captain and caught on camera. take a look. captain brad moore was directing traffic for a minor accident when a truck stops on a train coming at it.

the road and hitting the captain. his left arm was caught in the truck's right front tire and shoots him out. miraculously he survives with just 25 stitches and a broken left hand. jamison. a second team pronounced dead after a group of tennessee friends drank a mixture of mountain dew and racing fuel. authorities have not named the second teen but logan jamison died after drinking the gas cocktail last week. the tennessee teen fell dead thursday morning. within minutes police respond to the home of his best friend and they found him having seizures in critical condition. the team drank racing fuel to get drunk or high. that's what we want to put out to do it to get the high or the drunkedness part of it, it's not worth it. two other students also confessed to drinking the

el nino blamed for most of the destruction. rain for tomorrow more, right? >> yes, video from california, getting most of the effects from el nino and rain. as you said we will see plenty. the threat of severe weather just a good idea to download the app shield for android and iphone and it can issue warnings in this kind of situation because isolated strong storms and tornadoes are always a poke and in an el nino year, january, february and march. we talk about the heavy rains moving along the coast at 45 minutes ago and they are into eastern parts of manatee county and plenty more on the way. look at it moving on the gulf. the one thing we are noticing. we are not seeing at this point any lightning with this.

embedded strong showers and storms and, yes, this will be an issue for the morning commute. the severe threat is low. we're not going to say zero but low. a.m. it is probably the best opportunity for some heavier storms to try to develop. they are going to start out in the gulf and probably as a waterspout or some straight line winds and then roll on shore quickly late morning or early afternoon. mid 60s to low 70s right now from tampa to st. pete. amazing how the atmosphere has gone from just incredibly dry, winter weather over the weekend to within six hours dew points coming up 15 or 20 degrees and rains rolling in. this is a tropical connection. overnight, watch what happens. you look at occasional rain. you don't expect anything severe but first thing in the morning it will be an issue for the morning commute.

maybe a storm or two, just kind of an ugly start to your wednesday and then heavier weather from the gulf. by late morning in the early afternoon i expect that to happen. the other thing to look for, if you get any sunshine at all, most folks won't but if you see any that will de stabilize everything. i call itself destructive sunshine. by late tomorrow we will see the storms start to roll in. whether or not they are in citrus or hernando or areas to the south, there is no way to pinpoint that. the way to plan tomorrow, there is a chance for some rain at any point and there will be a few isolated storms, maybe a tornado. it will not be like we had two weeks ago where we would really see all of that energy coming in. but as i said, you can't write it off. by thursday, you can. thursday, things begin to quiet down and maybe not anything

tonight as both boston and new jersey lost. sidney cosby's goal went on to beat new jersey. the bolts in the top wild card spot in the east. one point behind boston for the third spot in the atlantic division. still only speculation, nothing solid on the rays front. pitcher jake mcgee's name is the most prevalent at this point. the team that might be prepared to dance with the rays is colorado. and as much as i would hate to see mcgee leave this move could help a lineup with a hard time scoring runs last season. it is mcgee for rocky's outfielder and left hander hitter corey dickerson. jacob larizza's name is tossed out there. dickerson batted 304 and on the disabled list more often than i would like but mcgee was injured in 2015.
