abc action news starts next. too close to call. democrats split the vote in iowa, the republican race tightens up at the top. thank you for joining us on this tuesday, i'm deiah riley. >> i'm dan shaffer. we'll get to the iowa results in a minute. first breaking news from plant city. plant city police are investigating a murder, officers say two men got into a fight around 8:30 last night at a home across the street from parksdale farm market on u.s. 92. when officers arrived they found 31-year-old jose manuel cazeras in the home's yard. he later died at the hospital. police telling the crew at the scene they are searching for a suspect. in tampa police are investigating an overnight accident that closed mlk boulevard near the hillsborough river.

motorcyclist and two cars. the motorcyclist died from the injuries the rider sustained. shay ryan, a lot of fog on the way to work. >> it's been getting more dense as we've been moving through the morning if you're heading out the door try to give yourself extra time if you can. again the visibility is near zero in many spots. we're looking at less than a quarter-mile, almost entirely widespread across the area. again the best visibilities visibility has been falling through the morning so expect it could get more dense there the next half-hour to hour even. fog changes quickly. we do have pretty light winds that will help to support that dense fog at least through the next couple of hours. once we get through the afternoon, we have 80 as a high. slight chance of a shower or two. and i'll show you when we have

[ cheering and applause ] >> they each received more than 49% of the vote in the caucuses. former secretary of state earned 22 delegates to sanders' 21 with one still to be decided the third major democratic candidate martin o'malley is suspending his presidential campaign. the former maryland governor won less than 1% of the vote in iowa. o'malley is calling on the democratic party to "hold strong behind whomever is the eventual nominee." on the republican side a clear winner, it's not donald trump. he may be leading polls nationally but couldn't win the hearts of iowa. voters like senator ted cruz from texas better. >> we will continue to campaign the same way, sitting down person-to-person, leader to leader, vfw hall to dunkin'

>> we will go on to get the republican nomination and we will go on to easily beat hillary or bernie or whoever the hell they throw up there. >> right here in iowa, the people of this great state sent a very clear message, after seven years of barack obama we are not waiting any longer to take our country back [ cheering and applause ] >> while cruz won iowa he only garnered eight delegates to trump's seven. marco rubio came in a strong third also earning seven delegates. former florida governor jeb bush finished sixth in iowa. the republicans also losing a presidential candidate this morning. mike huckabee announcing he's quitting the race. former arkansas governor finished in ninth place last night. eight years after he won the state during the 2008 campaign. huckabee acknowledging voters were "sick of him." 4:34. a tampa man is behind bars, charged with making pipe bombs.

before a judge tomorrow. >> documents show an inside source tipped off a atf agents to ramos. our reporter marcella burgos learned it was a co-worker that came forward. >> reporter: a tip led to this federal agents raided the place where ramos had been staying for five months. the discovery concerned agents, pipe bombs, smoke grenades and tear gas. >> anyone within a 50-feet radius could either be severely injured or killed. so they are very dangerous. >> reporter: agents say the man that ratted ramos out, kenneth ray o'neal ii, founder of patriot armor, makes and sells body armors. according to authorities ramos is the president of the business and it was o'neal that spotted what he thought were pipe bombs in mid-january. >> very shocked because that guy is very nice. >> reporter: according to court documents ramos admitted he

investigators he bought the materials on-line using his girlfriend's credit card. the same report says o'neal questioned ramos about why he had that stuff and his response was "if [expletive] hits the fan you never know if you might need it." >> never, never. i never see violence or nothing. >> reporter: ramos also told agents he didn't like the government and was the member agents don't believe ramos was going to set off the bombs. this morning hillsborough searching for two teens who escaped from a juvenile correctional facility. the authorities say convicted car thieves anthony bays and anthony cook crawled out of the detention facility through a hole in the fence. throws of the center wait -- employees of the center waited

it's owned by private contractor g4s which says it's working with the department of juvenile justice to make sure the same thing doesn't happen again. four workers were suspended over the escape. if you have any information over bays or cook call 911. a central florida did i care employee -- day care employee facing charges for allegedly beating and throwing a child to the floor. this video may be troubling, we want to warn you. dcf officials called police. detectives say 41-year-old kimberly reed claims she was just playing rough with the child. the day care staff say she abused the boy for more than three weeks. police report the child wasn't seriously hurt. school officials in ocala will be keeping a close eye on students in one high school after a racial incident followed by rumors of threats caused many parents to keep their kids home yesterday. more than half the student body, 1,600 students at westport high school were absent yesterday.

conflict began last thursday in a school lunch room. several students waving a confederate flag, one student was offended, threw a punch. over the weekend rumors spread on-line that something violent might happen yesterday. the school district says they will keep extra security at west port as needed. temple terrace police are looking for two violent robbers that shot a homeowner in his driveway. >> we now hear the frantic 911 call for help. michael explains the victim grapped his own gun and fought back. >> one grabbed me by the arm, pointed a gun at my sphainsd don't say anything. >> reporter: the 911 call paints a terrifying scene of an armed robbery that quickly escalated to attempted murder. >> i feared for my family so i grabbed the gunman, the second he was distracted i pushed him away and ran away from the house. the second i could i dry my firearm and started to fire at him. >> the victim fired seven

tree landed on a car killing its driver. firefighters say they were overwhelmed with cars -- with calls, that is caused by winds which topped 100 miles per hour. we are wishing a speedy recovery from a crew from our sister station in san diego. two of the reporters were shooting a story on the number of downed trees, one fell on them. gold managed to call 911 from under the tree. he suffered a compound leg fracture and underwent surgery. the other reporter also was injured seriously and will need surgery as well. shay has a look at our forecast. starting out pretty nice, foggy out there though as you head out. >> it is. we do have a dense fog advisory in place through 10:00 this morning. and a sea fog advisory through 1:00 this afternoon. so again, it's that flow coming off the gulf with relatively

so that air is just starting to cool and condense and that's where we're getting the fog. so again it's going to linger for a bit and may create a -- less pleasant morning commute but through the day more and more sunshine in store and boy, do we warm up. a high today of 80 in tampa. looking good through the afternoon once we get beyond the fog. tomorrow a slight chance of rain into the evening, especially after sunset and today we may even see a shower as early as 4:00 but it's going to be brief and very light. it's thursday when our next cold front really starts to bear down on top of us, that we'll have a good chance for more widespread soaking rain, some thunderstorms in the mix. then the cooler air arrives on friday behind this front. we're still tracking a batch of storms that are going to move through with the front and checking to see if the intensity gets severe. it looks unlikely but we'll keep you posted.

(bleep) -- holy (bleep)! oh my god! >> neither of the storm chasers was hurt but they say they felt static charge from the lightning. they were planning on taking out their boat moments before that bolt struck and then decided against it. that storm in sydney caused thousands of power outages.
