the visibility is in downtown tampa at 3 miles. we know with fog though that this changes very rapidly. in fact we are near zero in a lot of spots this morning. new port richey, st. pete, sarasota, inverness, lakeland, bartow, about a quarter to half- mile across the remainder of the area so it's pretty widespread this morning. and i'm pretty certain you're going to, at minimum encounter some hazy conditions but it may be very difficult to see in spots. again this will last through about 10:00 this morning. we'll see more sun by the time we get to noon and 75 degrees. a high of 80 today. plenty of sunshine and mostly dry day ahead. coming up. the most important thing to know as you head out the door what are you seeing so far? of fog. dierdorff behind the wheel of our live drive camera. he's on state road 56 and i-75

as you can see a lot of fog out there. not too bad at ground level where he's using the low beams there, but again just use caution. use your low beams and leave enough space between you and the car in front of you. you also might want to leave a little early this morning because i may take you a little longer to get around out there. look behind me. this is what it looks like on the gandy bridge before you get to the gandy bridge from st. pete. lots of fog. not affecting drive times though. still less than 10 minutes to get across all three bridges. we're also seeing fog on i-4 in the lakeland area. this is at the polk parkway. look at the fog out there. not seeing a lot of crashes so far. so that is good. again just use caution. let's check drive times so you can see how long it will take you to get to the downtown tampa area. 5:02.

looking live at abc action news covers this breaking story out of plant city. police telling us they first received a 911 call about a fight between two people around 8:30 last night. when they got there one man was down in the yard outside a house in the 3,600 block of baker street. police identified that man as 31-year-old jose manuel cazeras. taken to the hospital with upper body injuries where he later died. abc action news reporter rodney dunigan is on scene now checking with authorities. more from him at 5:30. tampa police overnight investigating a deadly crash that shut down mlk boulevard for hours. police say it involved two cars and motorcyclist. happened about 11:30 last night near albany avenue. the motorcyclist died, it's not clear if anyone else was hurt or what exactly caused the crash. turning now to democracy 2016. hours after the iowa caucus wrapped up and not all of the results are in.

side, where there is no confusion. there is a clear winner there and it is not donald trump. texas senator ted cruz takes first place with 28% of the vote. this morning he says iowans sent the message to the next president, won't be chosen by the media or the washington establishment. donald trump, the nationalfrontrunner finishing second with 24%, marco rubio in third with 23%. ben carson finished fourth with 9% and rand paul with 5% and jeb bush finished in sixth place with just 3% of the vote. meanwhile, the democrats locked in a dead heat. vermont senator bernie sanders says the virtual tie he's secured with hillary clinton sends a message it's "too late for the establishment litics and establishment economics." both came in with just 49% of the vote. clinton called the race a contest of ideas and said she looks forward to the race against sanders.

the democratic side now. martin o'malley dropped out overnight. the former governor came in third with less than 1% of the vote. coming up at 5:30 -- we'll go over who else is ending their campaign for the white house and what we're learning about the polling results when it comes to the voters. we have obtained court documents revealing new details about a tampa man that allegedly made pipe bombs and stored them in his home. authorities arrested michael ramos we learned is the president of patriot armor. documents show the founder of that business is the one who called authorities. agents raided ramos' home on lincoln avenue north and found as many as seven pipe bombs, smoke grenades and tear gas. document say he admitted he made the pipe bombs and bought the materials on-line using his girlfriend's credit card. agents don't believe ramos is going to set off the bombs, the fact that he had them was alarming enough. >> anybody within a 50-foot radius could either be severely injured or killed so they are

>> ramos told agents that he didn't like the government and he was a member of a st. petersburg militia. when asked about what agents found he responded "if [expletive] hits the fan you never know if you might need it." he's set to appear in federal court tomorrow. we're trying to get video of a man accused of attacking three people while on a flight to florida. joseph sharky could face 20 years in prison on what authorities say happened on the jetblue flight from washington, dc to jacksonville. they say he put another passenger in a headlock and fought with two flight tanneddants before the plane landed. day care workers in jail after -- day care worker in jail after authorities say she was accused of throwing a boy to the ground. this video could be troubling to watch. another employee turned her in. 41-year-old kimberly reed is facing charges.

rough with the child but staff claimed she had abused the child for three weeks. investigators are looking for any other possible victims. >> uncomfortable to view the video, me as a parent. this is also, we want to get it out there so that way if there's other victims -- this is a 4-year-old child. >> police say reed was already on probation out of orange county for welfare fraud and grand theft. code investigators are looking into whether she should have been working at the day care in the first place. the child wasn't seriously hurt. a shootout in temple terrace has authorities on a hunt for two armed robbery suspect. the victim told 911 operators he just got home from the store close to 11:00 sunday night and was unloading groceries when he was attacked. he was shot in the finger and also suffered injuries to his arm and head. during the robbery the victim pulled out his own gun and fired off seven rounds. >> i feared for my family so i grabbed a gunman who had his

distracted i pushed them away, and ran away from the house. the second i could i drew my firearm and fired at them. >> another home was hit with a stray round but no one was home there at the time. this morning parents in marion county are hoping security will be ramped up at a school after kids were kept out of school yesterday. investigators say this started last week in the west port high school lunchroom. they say several students waved a confederate flag, another student was offended and threw a punch. parents were worried as they got wind of what happened. >> i was horrified honestly. i didn't think that anything that bad would happen at westport. >> school officials say all the students involved were disciplined. dense fog advisory for the entire area through 10:00 this morning. visibility down to a quarter mile or less.

welcome back. 5:13. two virginia tech students charged in the murder of a 13- year-old girl are due back in court next month. david eisenhower and natalie keepers made their first appearances in court yesterday but neither entered a plea. both facing charges in the murder of 13-year-old nicole lovell. her body was found near the border of virginia/north carolina last weekend. investigators say eisenhower may have lured nicole out of her home. the family says she pushed a dresser against her bedroom door and climbed out a window. >> we have determined that eisenhower and nicole were acquainted prior to her disappearance. he used this relationship to his advantage to abduct and then kill her. >> investigators have not said

they released a motive for the killing. authorities in los angeles county are looking for an inmate mistakenly released before going on trial for a gang related murder. stevenwrite was released -- stevenwrite stevenwrite wright was released saturday. wright was awaiting trial for a gang related murder in 2011. the woman accused of helping inmates escape from jail will not be charged due to lack of evidence. she's been released from jail, she was arrested last week for allegedly providing a google map of the jail to one of the inmates. she taught english at the jail and exchanged personal letters with one of the escaped inmates. they are due back in court today. authorities now say they planned their escape for at least six months. they broke out on january 22nd and investigators say they abducted a taxi driver and stole a van and took the taxi driver with them to northern

california with the taxi driver and surrendered. the other two were arrested in san francisco. checking in now with shay for a look at some fog. could make the morning commute a little dicey. >> it could. these are images from maximo park, on the pinellas side of the skyway bridge. you can see it's pretty thick. as you head out that dense fog advisory is in place until 10:00 this morning. if you're planning on doing any boating the sea fog could linger until 1:00 this afternoon. near zero visibility in many spots. less than a half-mile widespread across the area. one of the best spots for visibility now is in tampa but that has been coming down through the morning. so expect that your commute could take a little longer than normal. as you hit the roads this morning, we have a southerly flow that is pumping in the warmth and the humidity.

mix of sun and clouds, it's going to be warmer than average for sure and we may even see a few showers later this afternoon and into this evening from this moist southerly flow. so don't be overly surprised but the rain chances are still pretty small. so anything that you do encounter wouldn't last long or be very widespread. temperatures ranging from the upper 50s in bartow, lakeland at 59, inverness at 61. tampa 66, st. pete 65. we're headed to highs today near 80 degrees. in fact all across hillsborough county looking at the low 80s today. the one exception, apollo beach at 79. that is still on the warm side for sure. now, along pinellas county we may see some temperatures that are a little lower as a result of that moisture and sea fog lingering close to the coastline but the bottom line is most of us in pinellas county are going to see highs in the upper 70s to low 80s. even to the north in citrus county today we're looking at

bottom, well above average for this time of year. and over the next couple of days we'll see the rain chances going up just a little bit for today and tomorrow in the afternoon. but really on thursday when our next cold front rolls through is when we'll see our most significant chance for rain. so this morning on your commute you just want to give yourself that extra time for that chance for fog. you probably are going to see some. what are you seeing, janelle? corey is driving around in the fog. you're on i-4, correct? >> reporter: yes. good morning. i-4 around the area of macintosh. eastern hillsborough county is looking better than pasco county was this morning and northern hillsborough county as we head towards i-4 towards plant city. now visibility is a little better, a half-mile but this is definitely patchy, coming and going as you head to work. you'll hit these areas where it's a little more visibility and then you'll get right into the heavy fog.

following distance, slow down and - extra following distance, slow down and use the low beams. high beams just don't cut we're going to check out the sunshine skyway which you can barely see. definitely a lot of fog over the bridge, fhp issuing a bridge. not slowing folks down too much. still just nine minutes from toll booth to toll booth there. look st. pete or through the pinellas county area, 275 and 22nd avenue north, very foggy out there. let's check the average speeds to see if people are slowing down. definitely a little slower. usually we're seeing 70 miles per hour from bridge-to-bridge on 275. in pinellas county. right now 64 northbound and 63 southbound. so i can see that drivers are slowing down out there as they should be with all that fog. checking drive times on the rhett rains, looking great --

"dancing with the stars" pro val is facing a lawsuit now from the family of a 16-year- old girl over an internet meme that used her photo. mocks their daughter who has we're not going to show you the photo but someone captioned it "letting your kid become obese should be considered child abuse." he shared it to his facebook page last month. then took it down after the girl's mother begged him to remove it. now the family wants $6 million from him for severe emotional distress. still ahead -- as bill cosby heads back to court today we're learning who is prepared to testify to get the charges against him dropped. >> then music and politics are not mixing this morning. which major star topping charts with their hits wants to stay

first at 5:19. apple no longer the most valuable company in the world. details in our business headlines. >> reporter: good morning, topping "america's money" -- the world's new most valuable company. it's google's parent company called alphabet. when the markets open this morning it will be worth $544 billion roughly. that is about $6 billion more than apple that has been on top since 2011. free snacks, coming back to american airlines. the nation's biggest carrier says those snacks will be available in all its domestic flights by april. american's announcements about the free snacks came as united airlines began offering the freebies as well. the seminole tribe is taking the hard rock chain of restaurants and hotels to a new level. a 34-story high guitar-shaped hotel, in hollywood, florida. the tribe says it could have just built something boxy for the expansion but they wanted
