a developing story from tampa. a night of super bowl festivities turned sour last night. a argument led to a victim shot in the face >> the gunman still on the run. reporter rodney dunigan has been following this story and joins us live from the scene at the 9300 block of 20th street north. good morning. >> reporter: good morning. investigators with the tampa police department have been in this neighborhood all morning collecting evidence. that is the yard there where all this happened early this morning. investigators tell me that the victim as well as the shooter in this case were here for a super bowl party when a fight turned into much more when shots were fired. an active scene overnight as tampa police shut down this section of 20th street north early monday morning. a late night fight at a super bowl party at this home at 9313 turned violent when a gun was pulled. >> we got a call 12:30 a.m.

and transported to tampa general hospital in critical condition. >> reporter: investigators telling us alcohol was involved and witnesses here last night haven't been quick to provide information. >> it was just a very small get- together, three or four people. >> reporter: the shots were fired right out in the front yard steps from other homes. and the victim hit in the face, rushed to the hospital, no one else was hurt. police spent the morning gathering evidence. late this morning, to wing away this lincoln with visible bulletholes. at this point the victim wasn't released. at last check he was in critical condition. the search continues for the shooter. a few minutes ago the homeowner of that home just pulled up so we're going to walk there and see if maybe we can get answers and have more information on this story later on today. reporting live, rodney dunigan, abc action news. happening now -- we are

search going on. clearwater police need police to help track down a man accused of attacking a 6-year- old at a mall. surveillance cameras captured the suspects outside the bathroom at countryside mall macy's. we're told the man ran after the girl screamed for help. she was not hurt. ivan cabrera has a look at the forecast. >> it's chilly but we're warming up a little. in fact today, will be the milder of the coming days. it's something because we're still going to be below normal for this time of year. 55 tampa. we were in the low 40s this morning. we were actually at freezing earlier in citrus county. as we check the planner through the remainder of today the gusty southwest that will take over ahead of the next cold front, we're going to make it to the middle 60s. that cold front already been

speed, in the green on i-75 southbound, looking great on i- 275 through pinellas county. average speed there 68 miles an hour. 9:05. a lot of you no doubt are a little tired if you stayed up to watch the super bowl. an upset for the carolina panthers. the broncos shut down the mvp cam newton. von miller stripped the ball from newton. denver recovered both fumbles. malik jackson helped give the broncos an early 10-0 lead. in the game later miller again with the strip. that would set up another denver touchdown giving quarterback peyton manning his second super bowl title and recordsetting 200th nfl victory. >> final score 24-10 broncos you can see the fans in denver partied until very early this morning. police say for the most part the crowd behaved but they only made a few dozen arrests, no

21-year-old wolfgang ballangeer is the fraternity president and due back in court tomorrow. his attorney denies the accusations. the fraternity is suspended pending the outcome of the investigation. 9:16. officials in north carolina are discussing whether or not a popular road race should continue next year after a man died over the weekend. the krispy kreme challenge is organized by nc state and participants run two and-a-half miles to a krispy kreme store, eat a dozen doughnuts and then run back. on saturday one man who dropped out of the race for chest pains died. officials say 58-year-old jeff woods left the race in the first mile. he was taken to the hospital where he had a heart attack and died. race organizers say they are going to look at how safe the race actually is before deciding if they will have the event again next year. the race benefits the north carolina children's hospital.

looking for this man this morning. they say he stole $75 from a photo booth at a bowling alley arcade but he apparently information got the fact he was robbing a noto booth. that took a -- photo booth that took a picture of him when he was in it. employees say the machine will automatically take a picture of anyone who tries to manipulate or damage it. police don't know his name but happy he's provided clear pictures. by now you've hopefully heard about the irs phone scam. someone calls claiming to be with the irs demanding money. there's another phone scam less obvious. consumer reporter john matarese has this consumer alert so you don't waste your money. >> reporter: even though most of us do most of our business on-line scam artists are still doing it the old-fashioned way. they are calling us and threatening us over the phone. it's effective.

system it's so easy to fall for. people have started to show up in recent days here at the jury room after receiving threatening calls about missing jury duty. >> we've had two or three actually show up here. yes. >> reporter: jury coordinator bradleysight says all of them were told pay a fine or face immediate arrest. time tim overmyer got the call. >> i am sheriff tom wilder from the hamilton county sheriff's department and i'm issuing a warrant for your arrest. >> reporter: the jury coordinator site says no one from the sheriff's department or courthouse is calling. it's another phone scam to get you to send money, via a western union or prepaid debit card. they want their money easily, hands down no questions asked. >> reporter: he says people are sending hundreds of dollars to scammers to avoid arrest. among them a young woman who showed up in tears. >> 23-year-old female, not aware it was a scam until i had

break the bad news to her. >> reporter: court officials say the one important thing to know about jury duty, you're not going to receive a phone call about showing up and you'll never be asked for money on the spot. >> we will never call you and tell you something about you missing your jury service. >> reporter: he says the only way you'll be summoned to the seats is with a paper summons, not a threatening call. remember, no court system will arrest you on the spot for missing jury duty. you might face a fine at some point but not from a threatening phone call so don't waste your money. john matarese, abc action news. parts of new england are gearing up for a blast of snow heading for the east coast. a blizzard warning has already been issued for parts of southeast massachusetts. >> ivan says up to 18 inches of snow could fall today. whiteout conditions and 40 mile- per-hour winds are expected. other states including connecticut and new york are expected to get up to 10 inches

morning commute. i can feel bad when i talk about how cold it is here. >> we can still complain. 30s and 40s. we can complain. in fact cold air the next few days. absolutely, if you're traveling up to the north check with your carrier. this is one of those days, blizzard warnings for southeastern mass and upwards of a foot to a foot and-a-half of snowfall. that is combined of course with the wind gusts that we've already had, up to 50 miles per hour. quite a monster storm. if it moved a little further west we would have been piling on the snow a little more. look at this, almost looks like a hurricane in the western atlantic. well, it's not. gets its energy from the difference in temperatures as opposed to what we get during the hurricane season but at this point here that bothered us on saturday with rain, got us yesterday with wind and at this point it's out of the picture for us, we were calm today as far as the winds but we're looking upstream already. this is our next system here. it's going to roll through tonight.

>> reporter: good morning. pasco sheriff's office says it started in this parking lot off state road 52 in front of that domino's pizza. that is where deputies were trying to arrest a man on an outstanding warrant and that is where the pacifico county sheriff's office says he tried to run one of them over. they are looking for this man, 26-year-old j'rokton williams. pasco county detectives say they were in his car when they attempted to make the arrest. he put his car in reverse, sped toward a deputy and took off. driving a 2008 infinity g37 with a distinctive purple paint job. he has a criminal past. in addition to outstanding warrants he will face charges of attachmented murder on a law enforcement officer. attempted murder. and crime stoppers of tampa bay offering a $3,000 reward for any information to put williams behind bars. live in hudson, corey

this morning a new port richey family is warning others about squatters breaking into homes. aisha meddling and ella star locked up their home on 4th street to visit a sick family member in orlando for a few weeks. they came back home and found it was ransacked and things stolen. and their home left a disaster. >> it was a section in one of the corners where it looked like people just squatting on the floor and being and pooping. don't think that just because you leave your house and lock the doors you can come back a couple of months later and expect things are still going to be the way they were. >> eventually police arrested one woman on a burglary charge but the family thinks more people were inside that home. they are trying to get back on their feet but say it's difficult because they didn't have insurance. in polk county deputies are trying to figure out if weather might have played a role in a horrible crash that killed three children and left several other victims fighting for their lives this morning. the impact left debris all along cypress parkway. detectives say saturday night one of the cars began to

spinning head on into another car. a 6-year-old in that first car died. a 6-year-old and 8-year-old were killed in the other car. three other children and four adults are now in the hospital. deputies say it's possible wet roads were a factor, several people did stop to try to help the victims. there are new steps underway today to protect you and your family from the zika virus. hillsborough county workers will test moaive traps they set up over the weekend. mosquito traps. 24 of the traps meant to find areas where zika virus may be a problem. there are at least three known cases of the mosquito-borne illness in hillsborough county. everyone's buzzing about the broncos. denver taking the title for super bowl 50 against the panthers. >> and they are not just talking about the game. also buzzing about the commercials, pre-game festivities, halftime show. even what happened after the game. >> social media exploding when this happened.

chicago police officer who fatally shot a 19-year-old man and accidentally killed that teen's neighbor. officer robert rialmo now filed a countersuit against the teen's estate. the lawsuit contends the shootings called him to suffer from extreme emotional trauma. that suit claims the teen attacked him with a bat and forced him to open fire but one of the bullets killed the teen's 55-year-old neighbor betty jones. both she and the teen's family are suing rialmo. breaking news we brought you friday at 9:00. crews in new york worked day and night through the weekend to try to reopen the road where a crane collapsed over the weekend killing one person. that 565-foot long structure came crashing down friday, left tangled wreckage that stretched two blocks. it took crews until late last night to cut it in pieces and haul it away.

ahead of clinton by just seven points. abc news, manchester, new hampshire. of course the weather could turnout. what kind of weather are we >> blizzard warnings are out for parts of the northeast. it will be snowing in parts of new hampshire but for them of course you really need to crank up the snow to get into any trouble here. snow showers by the time folks get out and start to vote. i think it will be all right as -- they need a few feet to get things really going up there. foreign us that storm system -- for us that storm system affecting them now is the one that brought rain saturday. at this point well to the north and east. that is one. number two is headed our way, we're in between systems now, we'll just get high clouds but the winds for now have calmed down but not the case as we head through later today. this is such a fast-moving system that by later on the winds will be getting gusty out of the south and west.
