we're keeping tabs on breaking news. three people on the run now after crashing their stolen car into a house. it happened after 1:00 this morning. >> two people and their dogs were home when the car came barreling through. lindsay logue tawbdz with the homeowner who said her dogs were just inches from being hit. >> reporter: look at the damage left behind. this pile of wood here, this used to be a white picket fence. if you look here you can see the damage to the side of the house and chimney. where that black trash bag is? that used to be a window. the scene mlk and 5th in quaint quiet safety harbor. danielle westin and her boyfriend fast asleep. >> i remember hearing a huge bang and glass breaking and then smoke. >> she says at first she thought someone was breaking in >> the impact was so hard it shattered the window and glass flew into the bedroom. >> reporter: and a street sign, ironically a do not enter sign

>> my dogs were on the couch, they were not hurt. >> reporter: outside a banged up pt cruiser stolen from clearwater but no sign of the driver or passengers. deputies launched helicopters and k-9 team. the damage is more than what you can see. the car slammed into the electrical box knocking out hour to the house. temperatures here dipped in the 40s overnight. clean-up and repairs will take days if not weeks. >> these situations are crazy, where do you start? >> reporter: this scene could have been worse had it happened a few hours later. look at this, safety harbor elementary school is just feet from this house, this is a very busy intersection in the morning. with kids walking and biking to school. in safety harbor, lindsay logue, abc action news. the owner of the stolen car didn't even know it was stolen. deputies say the car was left unlocked overnight. we turn to democracy 2016 -- the votes are in.

frankland bridge and downtown in both directions, it doesn't get much better than that. heading into tampa on i-4 maybe from lakeland, 23 minutes to get to downtown. 15 minutes from county line road to 75, just 8 minutes from 75 to 275. back to you. new developments now in the hunt for a gunman who killed two people and injured six others at a strip club in tampa. look at these surveillance pictures. tampa police now say the man you see here was in club rain when the weekend shooting happened. he's considered a person of interest. officers are not saying he's the shooter. just want to interview him. two people were killed after the shooting 2:00 saturday morning if you know who this is call tampa police. we are learning new information a third victim has come forward accusing a tai kwon do instructor of molestation. pinellas county deputies arrested andrew kim last week charging him with

young girls at os tai kwon do. the latest victim claims kim molested her in the school's van. the zika virus is continuing to spread around the world this morning. china is now reporting its first case of zika in a man who recently traveled to venezuela. chinese health officials believe the virus is unlikely to spread now in china due to cold temperatures and also lack of mosquitos. the zika health crisis continues to grow in the u.s. today health officials in indiana and ohio are reporting the first cases in their states, both people got the virus after traveling to haiti. there are now 66 reported cases spread across 19 states. so far no one has gotten this virus from the mosquitos in the united states but there are concerns that could happen later this year. the cdc just moved its emergency operations center to the highest level in order to prepare for zika. in florida the state reactivating nearly 1,000 extra

governor scott says all 16 of the florida zika cases are travel related. he's also asking the cdc for more training to help florida hospitals identify the symptoms. as the number of cases grows here and abroad athletes competing in the summer olympics in brazil are now sharing their concerns. the u.s. women's soccer goalie hope solo tells "sports illustrated" if she had to make a choice she would not go to the summer olympics in rio. she says she wants to have children one day and doesn't want to risk her unborn child having a zika-caused birth defect. kenyan officials say his players may pull out of the games if zika levels get higher breaking news yesterday morning, in the train crash in germany. one person still missing. 88 people were injured in the crash, nine of them seriously. look at the damage here. authorities say it appears those two passenger trains collided head on without braking. right now they are trying to

9:14. the u.s. department of justice is not happy with ferguson, missouri. at the center of riots almost two years ago following the police shooting of an unarmed man there. last night the city council voted to accept justice department recommendations to reform its police and court systems, but with some conditions including limiting the cost to ferguson. the council says the agreement could bankrupt the city. justice officials call the conditions unacceptable and says it will take legal action to make sure the city complies with the constitution. meanwhile, new information from flint, michigan. where state officials are scrambling to put an ends to a toxic water crisis there. the mayor announced yesterday a $55 million proposal to remove lead piping from the city's water system. first priority goes to high- 9:15. the court-martial of sergeant hold. proceedings.

court to make a decision about whether classified evidence should be shared with bergdahl's defense team. he's accused of desertion, leaving his mail military base in afghanistan in 2009 and being captured by the taliban. some were killed during search and rescue missions. bergdahl's attorneys argued jail time would be inappropriate given his years in captivity and the torture they say he endured. u.s. is inching closer to breaking a record for the number of job openings across the country. the labor department says there were 5.6 million unfilled jobs in december. that is just shy of an all-time record set in july of last year. the downside, many u.s. workers don't have the skills to fill those jobs, many require vocational training like truck drivers and plumbers. thousands of employees will be soon out of a job, at the struggling retail giant.

beating the old record by 4 degrees. other records were set in long beach and santa barbara. forecasters say the heat will die down by the end of the week but for now californians are soaking it up. we would like to soak up warmer weather. we're waiting too but it's slowly getting there. >> we have the trough now in the east. the ridge in the west. that is bad news for them because they need the rainfall. but for us, freeze watch now in effect for the nature coast once again. i don't think there's going to be a huge deal. upper 20s to lower 30s. maybe for a couple of hours, maybe not even below 30. it's a freeze watch. conditions will be favorable for, that we have clear skies and calm winds. it will allow for temperatures to really tumble as we head through tonight. it will be cold. no question. it's just a matter of whether we technically freeze tonight or not. 50 now in tampa. 52 st. pete. 51 clearwater. we're doing that with full sunshine, despite that not warming up much.

few low clouds this morning. those are now at this point gone as a dry northwest flow has taken over here. so it's going to remain sunny for the remainder of today, also remain cool so there is that. the one good thing, we've lost the wind. still a bit breezy, certainly by later today but yesterday we were gusting 35 to 40 and we had the sailboats flipping over. i don't think that will be the case today as temperature begin to rebound. winds will not be as strong. in fact they cancelled the skyway bridge adviser to the high winds. good call there. certainly not windy this morning at this time. mid to upper 50s for highs this afternoon. we should be in the low 70s, not going to be anywhere near that and by the time we get into tonight, 41 tampa. mid to upper 30s to the north and again we may see a few spots crossing the nature coast drop to 32 for a couple of hours and that is we have the freeze watch up. it's going to be cold. there will not be a wind chill so the temperatures you see here, which are cold enough, i get it, are going to be what it will feel like in the morning.

rodney dunigan, abc action news. a crime alert in sarasota county. a few extra seconds after you park your car could keep you from becoming the victim of a car break-in. sarasota police say between monday and tuesday morning, 24- hour period crooks there stole 40 cars in sarasota county in a downtown parking area. they were just blocks away from each other in fact. four people have been charged for the crimes, matthew gunn and three juveniles. there's a picture of matthew. officers suspect their victims were easy targets because most of the car break-ins police investigated this year happened because vehicles were unlocked. our adam winer will be talking with officers today about what else you can do to protect yourself and your property. once he files that report we'll be sure to post it on our abc action news app. here's the good news if you still haven't left your home -- you've missed most of the cold. temperatures now milder than we had this morning.

potentially defective airbags made by japan's takata corporation. that recall involves 705,000 mercedes benz cars and 136,000 daimler vans in the u.s. but the german automaker didn't release details on models and specific years. this is the latest expansion of the takata recalls as ordered by the national highway traffic safety administration. we'll have full details on the recall on our app. drone and model aircraft can return to the skies near the nation's capital. the faa just eased up on restrictions. the federal aviation administration says it's shrinking a 30 mile radius no drone zone ring around reagan airport to a 15-mile radius. the new rules take effect today. they must be registered, marked, be less than 55 pounds and have to stay below 400 feet. first came cabs, then uber and lyft.

where snow falls almost daily you need to make the best out of a bad situation. that is exactly what one person from new brunswick did when they got a craving for tim horton's in the middle of a snowstorm. she hooked up her dogs and then hooked up the sled and put them on the ride of their lives. you can see the two border collies pulling her along the snowy roads in town. she was mindful of their safety staying mostly on sidewalks, off busy roads. the owner is a dog trainer, says people are often surprised her border collies can pull the sled with her on it but she points out any, really, medium to large-sized preed can be taught to mush. once the crew arrived she rewarded them with a treat. look at this -- this swiss skier has taken playing in the snow to a whole new level by upping his smartphone photography game. he calls this move his signature slow motion swirl shot. the swiss skier did this with an i-phone with a tether and

he says it's as difficult as it looks. he says it took him years to perfect this particular move. cool. >> i can't even stay on skis. here's a video of me on skis, boom! that's about it. that's all you get. the dogs were cute though, i liked that. it's been cold enough for snow in florida. we just don't get the moisture in that combination, very rarely happens here as you well know. temperatures in the low 50s but we were low 30s this morning. tonight. in fact more of us will be in the 30s as we head through tonight and temperatures will really tumble quickly after sunset so bundle up tonight and heading into tomorrow though the winds won't be as much of an issue. temperatures now in the upper 40s. this is mild compared to where we were this morning. 50 in tampa. 51 clearwater. and already upper 50s. those are the highs today. if you're curious as to where

go each night for the performance. >> you look like you're 14. you tell me you're 32. i don't believe it. how long have you been traveling with broadway tours? >> with broadway tours about 9 1/2 years. this is my seventh show. >> you greapted from plant high school. when did you know this was what you wanted? >> i was in theater as a kid. community theater around town. and in high school i started to do a little more of the tech side. i was on stage a lot but i got involved in lighting and sound and i learned a little bit about everything. and so my teacher at plant high school, bette shawnessy, she really introduced me to what a stage manager is, i found that to be a great blend of everything because you're in rehearsal with the actors, you're interacting with the drow director but yet you have to know all the other departments, lighting, sound, wardrobe.
