the dangers of sexting. the principal saying the issues with this is because of cellphones and using video and pictures. video and pictures he said students need to know can change lives. this is a meeting lake placid middle school principal never wanted to hold but he had to. >> when i have a student that says everybody does it -- that is a concerning thing to me. >> the sheriff's office started their investigation earlier this month with one cellphone. that number has now jumped to 20. >> it turned into a video that was passed among other students and shared with other students and -- social media was used to bully that student. >> for some parents the presentation was eye opening. >> us parents have to talk to our kids even more and see what they are doing. >> it was disturbing and i was hurt. >> we talked about it.

the child found and it fired one shot. fortunately no one was hurt. good evening. we have clouds and we have rain across portions of the area. this is light stuff, no thunderstorms. never the less, throughout the next several hours we will continue to see showers move across part of pinellas county, hillsborough, lakeland and just east of lakeland. there is some moderate rain right now that extends down across our southern counties. by wake up time tomorrow pretty confident this will be long gone. the humidity will increase. the temperatures stay high and then even though tomorrow morning will be sunny we have some storms in the forecast and possibly some severe ones later on in the period. we will talk about that coming up in a couple of minutes. well students at polytechnic university wrapping up their first ever student run protest.

an update now to that helicopter crash last week in hawaii. the 16-year-old injured this

five people were on board. they are now investigating what caused that plane to crash. a michigan uber driver charged with multiple count ofrs murder made his first court appearance to day. he is not saying why he did it. one of his uber passengers speak >> [ indiscernible ] he kind of just said no. >> two people remain hospitalized from from the shootings including a 14-year-old girl. police body worn cameras continues to be a hot topic across the country. are they reliable?

tonight we are taking a closer look. >> body worn cameras can also protect law enforcement. this incident was from july. investigators say the suspect is aiming a rifle at deputies. we count at least 21 times deputies demand the suspect lower his weapon. he raises the rifle and then this. after about six shots the man is still warned to drop his gun. then two more shots. the suspect lived, you can clearly see he had a rifle. the body cam video helped justify the shooting in a matter of moments. the pasco county sheriff's office is the old agency to outfit all of their patrol

>> what has the biggest benefit been for you? >> it has made us a better organizization. it has protected our deputies and citizens. >> the program hasn't been perfect. we went digging through hundreds of e-mails. here is what we found. in the past year they had nearly 200 maintenance requests submitted after mechanical issues. there were also 200 failure to record issues. out of those 110 incidents were because deputies for got to record. in some of those cases document reveal use of force was used. >> it is a very small percentage. however we do look at it. it is important to us. that is a why we -- is why we changed policies because of that.

privacy issue and cost is too high. >> attorney michael maddox argues the cost of lawsuits can be far more expensive than cost of body cameras. >> litigation could cost tens of thousands of dollars. >> st. pete police are experimenting with using body cameras. a similar study with orlando pd showed positive results. >> the officers that wore them had significantly less use of force and significantly less number of complaints. >> he expects tampa pd's results to be about the same. >> at the end of the study almost all of them said they would like the cameras. they wanted to keep their cameras. >> two usf studies involving two police departments, one local sheriff's office using them all found use of force and citizens complaints have gone down while using them.

however there is plenty more where that came from. even some sea fog tomorrow. we have a lot of things going on. mid 60s across the entire area. the winds are coming in off the gulf. today we hit 78 over 58. today same thing last year. 73 is the normal high. 55 is the normal low. we were a little bit above normal. that is a warm front. as warm fronts move north, couple things happen behind it. it gets warmer and a little more humid. tomorrow morning and right on the through the day you will notice more humidity. watch what happens, by tomorrow morning that warm front lifts northward and we are left with partly sunny skies. not a bad start to your day. by tomorrow morning mid to late morning a few more showers going develop across our interior counties.

a few more showers, no thunderstorms tomorrow. wednesday, that is another story entirely. when it comes through you will notice it early morning wednesday along our northern central count. tomorrow will be a nasty severe weather outbreak for part of the northern gulf coast. this is really the tail end of -- or whatever is left of it. there is still a chance of some strong storms. it is something we will be tracking. we will give you all you need to know because i do think wednesday morning could get a little nasty. at the very least it will be rainy. a lot of folks will pick up close to an inch of rain before this is all said and done.
