just in this afternoon, remember baby chance found buried in north port last year? sarasota county just just upped his dad's charges. he is charged with first degree murder in the death. his mother is serving 25th years in prison in exchange for testifying against the -- 25 years in prison in exchange for testifying against the father. and right now a venice day care shut down because of that, a driver going right through the wall. >> in all of this, four toddlers and an employee hurt. authorities are now looking into if this is a case of a grant mother pushing the wrong pedal. >> the owner of the day care believes the only reason that the driver didn't make it all the way through is because of the tree right there and the potted wheel plant that you see back there.

the now's todd walker joins us live from texas, the state with the most delegates up for grabs. todd has a look at the numbers. >> reporter: yeah. a big day today. so big our graphics department couldn't handle it. 865 for the democrats. 595 for the republicans. interesting to note, this is about half of what is needed to clench the nomination just today. and going into today, only 2% of the democratic delegates were committed. after today it will jump up to 24%. same for republicans. that's why today is a big deal. the biggest prize, texas. 155 delegates for the republicans. 252 for the democrats. to tack a look at the republican delegates standings right now, donald trump out in front. even if he doesn't take texas, he is expected to take the rest. for the democrats, hillary clinton and bernie sanders are close. but democrats have the super

you can see the main sail beach looking pretty fantastic out there. blue skies and sunshine. a few high level clouds ahead of the front. we will see the clouds building overnight. it acts like a blanket. all of the warmth that you're seeing right now with temperatures near 80 in hillsborough county, those clouds keep all of that warmth. not all of it but some of it in and keep us toastier overnight. as far as temperatures to the north, even in crystal river here, 75 degrees today. inverness at 79. so plenty of warmth, above- average temperatures for today. you can see on the futurecast as i put the clock forward to 8:00, just a few extra clouds. then tomorrow morning, possibly a few showers as the front rolls on through. nothing to create any issues for you. tomorrow morning you're waking up to the upper 50s and low 60s.

and on the democratic side since fdr. she says we won't know how likely this will be until further along in the primaries. bringing it back to florida. i want to tell you about this. rick scott says yesterday that he doesn't have interesting in being a vp candidate. we talked about that right here on the now. that he is fine working right here in florida, putting all of those rumors to rest that he could be trump's choice for the ticket should he win the nomination. we're waiting to see which candidate ellen course and if it comes before florida's march 15th primary. >> how about this one right now. we're learning that the secret service is investigating this service that we showed you yesterday on the now. a photographer choked by a secret service agent at a trump rally in west virginia. while the students were being escorted out, the photographer followed to shoot it. and that's what happened next. all right.

i know it's hard to tell but this is basically like somebody's sunroof and pollen on it. i'm bringing in shay ryan right now because it's still winter and i'm still seeing this. >> here in florida the temperatures are mild so we get the allergens all year long. when we see this, we get the questions like -- >> are my allergies going to be bad. >> take a look at this data. this is one forecast for what is going to happen with pollen this week. it's the next five days. getting worse. here is why i don't like pollen data. it differs and conflicts. look at this. this is showing it's low, not only with rag weed but grass and weeds. the last one said it was high. then a third site says it's very high. check this out. this is even better. it conflicts with what is lower on the same website. it showed it was high there.

international space station. right in the middle in the turquoise shirt is scott kelly. he is headed into that. he should be back on earth before midnight tonight. you see them all hugging. they have been up there for so long. scott kelly has been in orbit in the iss for 340 days. 340 days. that's double the length of the time that astronauts are typically there. scientists will monitor him for the next few months to make sure he is healthy. he should back home in houston by tomorrow before midnight. good luck, guys. >> good luck. so ready to welcome him home. officers are thanking him on social media. police post this had surveillance video on facebook. you can see officers were chasing a suspect through a grocery store. that's when a quick-thinking shopper pushed his cart in the way, causing the suspect to trip. officers made the arrest and

they're talking about encryption. >> there are no demons in this debate. you have good people who see the world through different lenses who all care about the same things in my view. >> the fib director says the government isn't trying to expand its surveillance power but he is worried about warrant- proof spaces where law enforcement can't get critical information. apple warns writing new code to unlock the san bernardino shooter's phone will create a back door, making phones vulnerable to hackers and government surveillance. now, as apple continues its legal standoff with the fish we're learning more about cases in which the company is being pressured to unlock iphones. a federal judge in new york has ruled that the government can't make apple unlock the iphone of a suspected drug dealer. investigators want to get contact information for other suspected dealers and buyers. it's one of a dozen similar cases across the country right now.

for privacy, security and common sense. apple has actually complied with court order in 70 other cases. >> research is deadly. >> remember that movie? did you know that the movie twister was inspired by a project to study tornado alley. that was two decades ago. starting today, scientists are fanning out trying to get a better idea of tornadoes in our area for the first time. just last week we showed you the damage from deadly tornadoes in the southeast known as dixie alley. they are trying to understand the systems creating tornadoes there. on average more people die in tornadoes in dixie alley than tornado alley. that's according to the storm prediction center. we have already seen our fair share of tornado damage in the tampa bay area.

that it caused in port charlotte. the same area hit hard by hurricane charlie. splitting homes in half. one person died from the hurricane -- excuse me, from the tornado. the other person died on the way to the hospital from a heart attack. and we see these pictures, shay, and you say my goodness. especially this time ofa. >> right. >> it's really hard to believe. >> yeah. when you get the cold fronts rolling through like we have seen the last two months, that's when you get concerned about the potential for severe weather. the good news, we have two fronts on the way and neither of them will have nasty storms along with them. very little rainfall out of these two. that is for us locally. if you look a little farther to our north into parts of alabama, mississippi and georgia and into tennessee over the next several hours and into midnight tonight, there is a slight chance for severe storms there.

will be getting the weaker side of the system and just a few showers. the temperatures have been warmer than average, in the upper 70s. right now we're looking at an average high 74 degrees. and 56 is the average low, with a few clouds building overnight ahead of the next front. the temperatures will be a bit above average with a low of 62. tomorrow though even with the front rolling through, 77 as a high. behind the front, we're down to 74. right on target for average. the temperatures start coming up as another front quickly rolls through on friday, giving us a chance of showers. only 20% coverage. we're not looking at any nasty storms look i mentioned and barely any rain out of this. really not much of a cooldown behind these fronts either. saturday, 75 degrees as a high. and denis is timing out the rest of the weekend forecast and we will let you know if there's any rain to expect as we head into the tail end of the weekend. that's coming up on action news at 5:00. ashley.

he does have a lengthy criminal history. hundreds of people gathering in virginia for officer ashley's funeral. she was killed on her first day on the job going out on a domestic call. you can see the motorcade. so many people lining the street with their american flags waiting for her to come by. the gunman an army staff sergeant assigned to the pentagon confessed to killing his wife and shooting two other cops. she graduated from the aurora nautical university in daytona beach in 2010. erin andrews back on the stand this afternoon in her $75 million lawsuit against a nashville marriott. the testimony was emotional. the sports reporter and "dancing with the stars" cohost at times very tearful when she was talking about what her life has been like since finding the video that the stalker posted of her online. >> i think the thing that has
