abc action news on top of breaking news as we come on the air at 5:00 this thursday morning. police at west yukon street in tampa on the scene of a home invasion around 2:30 this morning. corey dierdorff is there with the latest. good morning. >> reporter: good morning. you can see cpd is still looking inside of this west yukon home. not much info so far from police. here's what they told us. this home invasion took place when two men kicked in the front door right there at west yukon street, and tied up the people inside. while inside, the crooks robbed them. police told us they took small electronic items and jewelry. police work to track them down.

we've seen people going in and out of this home this morning, refusing to talk to us. we'll continue to talk to them to get to the bottom of what happened. we'll bring you the latest on air and online. corey dierdorff, abc action news. >> the other home invasion happened in tampa about 9:30 last night at the meridian point apartments on hillsboro avenue. three men forced their way into the complex. one appeared to be armed with a gun. they took a wallet, laptop, computer and cell phone from one apartment. the victim drove to a nearby wal-mart to report the incident. so far, no arrests in either case. we are checking in this morning with cooler temperatures. higher humidity yesterday made it feel less cold and a little breeze out there. so yeah, we're starting in the 50s, but we'll end up with the nice temperatures by the afternoon. take a gander here at the

a drive in to pin nelies county, up to speed by bridge to bridge. your drive times are perfect, in the green, 18 minutes from 54 to 275. six minutes from waters to 275. back to you. abc action news is tracking three sex scandals involving three highland county teachers. the newspaper is reporting nine new child porn charges for this middle schoolteacher. stacy lynn hooks. we brought you the breaking news when hooks was arrested for having sex with a 14-year- old student. now a teacher at sebring high school has resigned. the sheriff says rozier-kennedy was under investigation for making porn with an 18-year-old student and the sheriff also confirmed an avon teacher is under investigation for child porn. detectives are looking for

a carjacking in winter haven. they already arrested 18-year- old john crist but are still looking for william summerland who got away. sandra hunter, the victim was sitting in her car early tuesday morning texting. one of the suspects came up to her door and demanded she get out. when she saw one of them get in her car, she jumped up and sprinted to a nearby store and called for help. >> i'm still kicking myself for not paying more attention. i'm blaming myself right now. >> authorities say the teen crashed that stolen car about four hours later. the suspects picked up a third person after the crime, a missing 16-year-old run away who detectives arrested for violating probation in a second place. she said the plan was to steal a car, drive to jacksonville and commit a robbery. new video showing what happened as an atlanta officer is making an arrest.

pavement. stopped recording. an internal affairs investigation cleared him of serious chargesp. in west palm beach, an 18- year-old charged with impersonating a doctor is back home after another trip to jail. malachi was released yesterday. he was arrested tuesday night on five new charges of fraud. an 86-year-old woman claims he defrauded her after a series of visits to her home to treat her for severe stomach pain. an arbitrator ruled to give an elementary schoolteacher her old job back. she complained on her facebook page about standardized tests and was fired. the arbitrator said she posted on her own home on her own page after school hours and the

facing felony charges accused of shoving and spitting on a teacher. it started when a student refused to dissect a clam. first she shoved the teacher and twisted back her thumb when the teacher tried to escort the student out of the room. other students rushed to the aid of the teacher and a second fight broke out. this morning, some parents say a felony charge is not enough. >> usually people that do things like that tend to graduate on to bigger and better things. i hope not. i hope this is a lesson. >> we are told students cursing or hitting teachers is not unheard of. hillsboro county telling us there have been 30 reports of battery on a school employee this year alone.

not the easiest to steal but someone stole tractor-trailers. the vice president of central construction rigging and heavy hauling says he lost more than $400,000 worth of trucks and trailers early yesterday morning. that equipment has been used by his familiar in a business they opened for more than 28 years to transport heavy equipment. >> they come in and unhooked three of our four axle trucks from trailers and took the newest trucks and my newest trailers and hooked back up. >> reporter: randy is hoping someone will recognize his trucks and trailers and call police before the thieves paint them or sell them on the black market. >> while those suspects managed to get away with serious loads, this next crook wasn't nearly as successful. you see him trying to get this register open with a broom stick.

50s to low 60s with mostly clear skies out there. we had a front come in yesterday. you may not have noticed it. look at what it's done to our temperatures in the 40s right now and 50s. a bit of a breeze out there, so it feels cool if you've been already outside. upstream, this is what we're looking at. our next disturbance is getting going here. like the last one, this one will weaken as it begins to approach. high clouds rolling in. it's this system that we're going to be tracking. watch what happens here on futurecast by the time it gets here. through the overnight tonight, already seeing that boundary beginning to move in. heaviest rain to the north. thunderstorms here, but look at the trailing front. that's about it. just light showers, i think, but the timing will work out for the morning commute. we'll have light showers to contend with tomorrow. heading into the weekend we'll look good. temps in the mid and upper

entrance ramp at 54th avenue south so use 34th street to make your way around that. else dids where, make sure you are following me on twitter at tampa bay tropics for the latest on that. an arizona man accused of breaking into homes says he doesn't remember doing any of it because he says he was sleepwalking at the time. thomas duran is accused of burglarizing two homes in suburban phoenix. one homeowner caught him going through her stuff and called 911. he says he has a habit of sleepwalking and lives in a neighborhood seven miles away and the night before he had been drinking and taking prescription drugs. neighbors aren't buying his story. >> it's not like he was on something because no one sleepwalks that much. >> it just seems silly. >> reporter: police found evidence from both burglaries on duran.

. we start this 5:30 half hour now with breaking news. we're watching two investigations. >> we're live on the scene of the latest incident on yukon street. it happened around 2:30 this morning. tampa police cars are still there. those officers looking for ends and interviewing winces. they tell us two people kicked in the front door and tied at least one person up inside that home and robbed the place taking small affly pliances and jewelry.
