showers will be rolling into minnesota. nothing severe and the lightning associated with it has fallen apart here as expected. we're in good shape as we widen out the view. there's the boundary there with, again, just broken line of showers rolling in. these are moving about 40 to 50 miles per hour. what that means for you and me is by the time we get to the midday hour, we are not only rain free, we'll have temperatures in the low to middle 70s. first things first, we have rain. we have light showers but nevertheless, it's enough to make you slow down a little, especially across the south. >> you were mentioning sarasota and manatee area. my map of the area shaded in green is where you might find wet roads. you can find bradenton a little south of that. just use some caution if you

since a bay area man was shot and killed while on his way to the strawberry festival. on march 6, 2005, david neel was driving south on intersay the 75 when someone passing by him fired one bullet into his truck hitting the left side of his chest. crimestoppers of tampa bay and the sheriff's office put together a video re-enactment of the crime hoping to generate new tips. >> we're hopeful, but you don't get your hopes up too high. the first place? >> reporter: coming up at 5:30, abc action news reporter sarah rosario is finding out how much money agencies and neel's family are pulling together to get a tip that leds to an arrest. a car backed into a day care in zephyr hills.

last evening when the car apparently backed into it. we're told children were standing nearby at the time but no one was seriously hurt. a tampa bay first grader nearly servers a finger in school and now his teacher is on administrative leave opinion he was holding a door last thursday when the door was slammed on his fingers, nearly serverring two of them. wounds. the family has hired an attorney claiming there's no doubt his teacher did it, but they are not sure if it was intentional. >> his father showed up at school and there was blood all over the floor and the child screaming. so we node to find out what in the -- we need to find out what in the world is happening at this school. >> we need to make sure this does not happen to my child or anyone else's child again.

investigations. a trial date has now been set for the bradenton mother charged with abusing and killing her 11-year-old daughter. the tentative start date for the trial of the mother whose 11-year-old daughter's body was found in the freezer. if convicted, she will spend the rest of her life in prison. prosecutors said they won't go after the death penalty. >> could there be more victims? that after a teacher is charged with child pornography and having sexual relationships with a teenaged student. stacy hooks was arrested last month after investigators found evidence she had sex with a 14- year-old student where she taught. then we told you earlier this week when she was charged with an additional nine counts of child pornography. one parent says everyone needs to do more to protect your children. >> we really need prayer and god back into the schools. this is the only way. >> the sheriff's office

analyze social media accounts hooks. at this point, they have not identified any additional victims. the punishment for drug arrests could lighten up a trip to jail. small amounts of marijuana could soon turn into a ticket and a fine. council members voted in favor of a new ordinance and issued civil citations instead of filing charges against anyone marijuana. the measure would have to get a second approval in two weeks. people in st. petersburg will soon have a new spot where they can live, work and pray. when construction is complete, the 41 story condominium power will become downtown st. pete's tallest building. it will also feature stores and hyatt hotels. >> reporter: a lot of green space, shops, culture, our museums, and they realize there

we now know why he was transferred. holmes was transferred partly because another inmate attacked him last october. holmes was not seriously hurt, but it left a prisons employee injured. officials refused to say exactly where holmes is now, but he is no longer in colorado. he is serving life in prison for killing 12 people and injuring 70 others when he opened fire in a suburban denver movie theater in 2012. deputies are looking for the people who attacked two trump supporters in orlando. a woman supporting trump says someone drove by and threw a drink at her leaving her covered in coffee and a welt on her stomach. then a man says he was attacked after he confronted two men who started pulling up his trump signs out of the ground. >> when they did that, i approached them and confronted them to get them to stop. that's when one of them body

kept pulling the trump signs. i couldn't pursue them. >> the man was treated for cuts and scrapes on his hands. his friend gave a picture of the car that the attackers left in. a broken line of showers at this point, nothing too heavy and is everybody veer. we have wet roads to contend with certainly. eastern hillsborough county shows the rains moving through zephyr hills and they are screaming towards the east. so once you get the shower, you blink and it's over. again, nothing is severe, and not looking at thunderstorms. watch this line of showers. this is a potent line of thunderstorms out in the gulf. i'll put it into motion and see what happens. we lose the lighting and fall apart as it pushes in. if you are watching through

the planner takes us into midday with showers and a weakening trail with the end on the cold front here. look at that 8:00 63. feels a little drier out there and it may feel a little cooler out there certainly by the time we get that tomorrow morning. temperatures this afternoon ripe for the low 70s along the coast and we'll take a look at that forecast as we head into tomorrow with the drier air allowing the temperatures to fall back once again kind of going back and forth. a 55 and good 20-degree jump in the afternoon putting us into the mid-70s. same deal for sunday. look what happens early next week. upper 70s and low 08s. we could not be surprised to get mid and upper 80s. get ready for that. enjoy each and every weekend as we get closer to springtime. humidity starts going up as do the temperatures. a few showers out there this

can't be forced to marry same- sex couples. the senate passed that bill yesterday. the house passed it on wednesday. if governor scott does sign it, the law will take effect july 1st. opponents say it's not necessary because the state and federal constitutions already protect churches and can refuse to marry any couple. and blocking new york state's so-called tampon tax. they want to stop imposing a 4% products. the department classifies them as general merchandise making them ineligible for medical supply tax exemptions. it taxes products used by women only but not on both sexes. >> how can a guy in front of us is guying chapstick and rogaine, and we are. it felt to us like a tax on

>> new york women pay $14 million taxes on feminine hygiene products every year. back here at home in that, you can have a lot less time to save on all of your child's back to school supplies. a bill would cut back on the number of day as loued for the state sales tax holiday scaling back from the current ten days to three days. it wouldn't cover computers anymore and would only apply to clothes $60 and under instead currently. you might want to consider job. they are raising its entry level pay to $13 an hour. still ahead, the gate way to college has been overhauled. we're learning if the changes get a good mark right before it enters schools nationwide. painting. one woman tried to pass this off as a license plate.

students say the exam is not so tricky nor straightforward and it's based on more real world analysis. it has a new security measure in place. prep professionals can no longer take the test. up until now, they have been able to take it so they could coach students on how to ace it. a new york woman is facing felony charges for driving with a home made license plate. >> it was made out of cardboard and painted to look like a real new york license plate. the deputy noticed the car with the suspicious plate in buffalo. he pulled over that woman, 28- year-old amanda who also had a suspended registration and no insurance. the woman is now charged with felony possession of a forged instrument. 9/11 is certainly a day no one will forget, but donald

>> rosario joins us live in just a minute. first, as you heard a few minutes ago, today is the start of the spring break season, and thousands of college students, including my son, are on their way to florida right now. his plane takes off in about a half hour. no pressure, ivan. >> how's the forecast? >> when i was in school and spring break, they won't care about whether there is a shower, am i right? yeah, it will clear up for the weekend is your answer. just a quick round of showers and falling apart as we speak. in the next half hour, we'll be done with these as they continue to roll in money polk city getting wet, lakeland and a couplele of showers about to move through. these are light and fast moving so what that means is we're not going to have enough time to really get the roads too wet. then this line of showers and that's about it.
