4:52 pm
and even a couple upper 40s across the northern counties. then the warm-up begins. and by next week, especially the middle of next week, we're talking temperatures closer to 90 than to 80. so there's a lot of warm air that will be rolling in. for the time being, the weekend looks good. maybe a couple clouds on the east coast. but our forecast looks exceptional, with temperatures warming up each and every day. high temperatures on saturday anywhere from the low 70s closer to the beach to the low to mid 70s inland. as i said, by early next week, we warm up nicely. we're at 81 by tuesday. and we're a lot warmer than that wednesday and thursday. i will talk about that coming up at 5:00 on abc action news. >> thank you, denis. we have breaking news to tell you on the new tampa bay. the knife reportedly found at the home of o.j. simpson, the former home of o.j. simpson apparently is not consistent with the weapon used

4:54 pm
we beat him in alaska and minnesota. i think that plan is real. i think the establishment is paying all this money to do it. but i want to move on to other topics because i think the voters have something to say about that. the one thing they haven't factored in is they can't buy your votes. they can't decide for you. and you will have the power to pick the people that want to be the next leader 6 this country. >> you're looking at the conservative political action conference right now. also right now, we have a little bit of news for you. there's an effort underway to improve safety when we all fly. jackie callaway is here to explain there's also concern >> exactly, laura. some of the changes we're talking about can take years. the debate intensified after the disappearance of malaysian flight 370. a piece of wreckage was found off the coast of africa, two a trace.

we still don't know where the plane ended up. new safety changes include planes in distress having to report their position every minute to help search and rescue teams but it would only apply to planes built six years from now and later. many of the planes in the year will be used for 20 years. the international civil aviation organization that sets global standards would require airlines to report their position every 15 minutes over open water. that doesn't have to happen until 2018. it is to track flights using satellite. the u.s. will require that technology on all airlines in 2020. right now there's no international deadline. airlines will also be required to have a new way to recover information from the block box and cockpit voice recorders so crews don't have to search underwater. that requirement doesn't kick
