made it clear the ordeal will never be erased for her. the jury of seven women and five men awarding andrews $55 million for marriott hotels and a man who recorded her naked without her knowledge. the verdicts read in court yesterday as a tearful andrews thanked jurors. her original suit sought $75 million from the nashville hotel where she was when michael barrett stalked and videotaped her secretly in her hotel room in 2008 and posted it to the interpret. barrett was sentenced to two and-a-half years in prison. throughout the trial family members talked about how andrews continues to have trust issues to this day. >> i look to see if there's cameras. i check the bed, i check the alarm clock. i check the phone. >> lawyers for the nashville hotel haven't said whether or not they plan to appeal the jury's decision. women in andrews' situation now have more protection in florida. a new law makes it illegal to post sexually explicit videos

it's only been in effect five months now. the revenge porn law is punishable by up to a year in jail. two shootings happened in minutes of each other in tampa. first south tampa where police are investigating whether two separate scenes are now connected to a murder. officials say an ongoing dispute turned violent when someone shot two people at the avenue. police say they later found a body next to a car three miles away from the apartments. they are still interviewing witnesses but think the victim was trying to drive and get help but died before he could get to a hospital. another person was also hurt. meanwhile, hillsborough deputies say they have a suspect in custody after another double shooting at an apartment complex. we're told someone shot those men during a drug tracks action beacon isles apartments breaking overnight -- investigators say it's a miracle no one was killed when a commuter train derailed in northern california plunging

the train is on its side 30 miles north of san jose. deputy say a tree fell on the tracks during heavy rain causing it to derail. nine people were hurt, four seriously. the train was traveling from san jose to stockton. train service on that line will be shut down today as the ntsb starts its investigation. this morning we know what led to the massive backup on the howard frankland bridge. we told you about it this time yesterday morning. highway patrol troopers saying the 10-car pile-up was caused when 62-year-old ivan hall lost control after a front tire blew out. setting up a chain reaction of crashes involving 10 vehicles. hall was seriously hurt. everyone else had only minor injuries. check of the forecast this morning. upper 60s, to near 70. a few clouds but we'll get rid of those and have full sunshine by later this afternoon, looking pretty good. yesterday morning we were in the 40s to the north but got rid of the cold air, southeasterly winds now taking over. by the time we get to lunchtime in the mid-70s.

into i-4. and your drive times right through the downtown tampa area, back to normal, just six minutes to get from i- 4 to the howard frankland. 9:07. south korea is punishing north korea in the wake of its latest nuclear threats. south korea says it's sanctioning dozens of people and groups in response to the north's warning it would unleash a pre-emptive strike of justice against the u.s. and south korea. up to 150 suspected islamic fighters have been killed in a single u.s. airstrike in somalia. u.s. forces launched the strike over the weekend, u.s. intelligence says the pentagon indicated that the group was in the final stages of preparations for a large scale attack on u.s. and african union forces. the deadliest attack against al- shah bob in more than a decade. there were believed to be no civilian casualties in the strike though the pentagon is still assessing the situation. new protections for students could be in place

the wake of a troubling teacher sex scandal. today the school board is going to decide whether stacey hooks should be fired after deputies say they found evidence she had sex with a 14-year-old student at hill gull staid middle school. later porn was found on her cell phone. school board members will also discuss whether to change the rules on what to do when someone suspects child abuse or sexual activity involving a child. a controversial manatee county canine is making news again. deputies are now investigating patty the dog after that dog bit another dog. this bite happened at the pet clinic in bradenton yesterday morning. the 4 1/2-month-old golden retriever is a service dog in training so the dog is protected under the law. the owner could be charged with a misdemeanor but nothing is going to happen to patty. patty was almost put down for biting a child at his owner's clinic over the summer but a

a florida teen accused of being a fake doctor. authorities say another florida man attempted to treat and cig knows patients without a -- diagnose patients without a medical license. manuel cordova was arrested at his clinic in haines city. according to his degree he earned a doctor of natural medicine through a on-line school that is now closed. the state says it ahead issued licenses in natural medicine for more than 50 years. an under cover detective made an appointment and cordova apparently diagnosed him with a made up condition. we're taking action to let you know, ashley furniture is holding a job fair for its newest home store location. it will occupy the old k-mart building south of raymond james stadium. interested in applying? it's running today and tomorrow, 10:00 to 4:00 at the hilton garden inn on avian park drive by the airport. breaking news from kansas

last night police charged dwight boon dody with killing tysean lee. lee was lured from a playground and killed last november. police say boone had already been in custody on unrelated gun charges. pedestrian deaths surged by an estimated 10% last year. it's a growing problem. the report also says the growing use of cell phones distracting not only drivers but pedestrians as well. the tsa is gearing up for spring break travelers, urging you to arrive early as the checkpoints time nearly doubled in the past year. 77% more travelers are expected during spring break season with the biggest increase in march. among tips from the tsa print boarding passes early, packed liquids in checked bags and empty your pockets to get

a shocking moment on a florida highway caught on camera. a garbage truck is falling off i-95 in south florida. florida highway patrol is sharing this video with us. this happened last month but we're just now seeing this video. the driver loses control, falls 100 feet off the side of i-95 and then lands in a park. amazingly the driver survived but he's still recovering after spending time in a hospital. florida highway patrol is still investigating what caused the accident. the whole world knows donald trump has been audited with the irs and if it can happen to him with his high powered accountants and lawyers it can happen to you. consumer reporter john matarese has red flags so you don't waste your money. >> reporter: april will be here before you know it. which means many of us are working on our taxes now. the good news, irs has fewer inspectors than in years' past which means less of a chance of an audit but still it is possible if you mess up. the recent admission by

going to cause damage and that is obviously highly populated area. we don't want to see that. this is the high blocking everything. about as east as things will move, this line here. nothing is going to get through this high at least for now. it will take the entire week to break down. until that happens we're not going to get the weather that is to our west. in fact they are going to continue to day get after day of heavy rain and also severe thunderstorms as well. some pockets of up to a foot of rain possible because. that when you get this block you have weather that doesn't move. it's a problem as we saw last year with our front that stalled out for the entire month of august almost. eventually the rain will push to the east a little here, timing, well, we still have to work it out. saturday late or into sunday so we salvage half the weekend. but keep checking back with us. not expecting severe weather, by the time it arrives it will be much weaker, just rain to contend with. right now none of that. upper 60s to 70 degrees.

long as it's in charge, plenty of sunshine and southeast flow will bring us warmer temperatures everyday so we'll be looking at low 80s as we head through today. by tomorrow we'll see low to mid-80s. thursday continuing with the fine weather through thursday afternoon and then on friday we still manage out to low 80s. so this is the week you pick to vacation, fantastic stuff. could not have picked a better week. however, watch the weekend. i put 30 and 30 as far as the chances of showers on saturday and sunday. i don't think it will rain both days, we just have to work out the timing. we could potentially get this late saturday or even better into sunday so that we clear out on saturday. by the way saturday night, we are going to continue to see our clocks moving forward. so that is going to give us an extra hour of daylight on sunday. the sunset would be about 7:35 so we'll watch that closely for you. again it's this system across texas, continuing to monitor this for potential of damaging winds but eventually it will

we'll have details on that and we're going to talk solar eclipse as well in a few minutes. 9:30 -- new this morning, budget negotiators reached agreements last night on dozens of spending items. it includes $44 million from a teacher bonus program that gets highly rated teachers extra money if they scored well on college admission tests. the lawmakers though argued the program is unnecessary and unfair to older teachers. additional money will also go to the agency that helps people with disabilities. the deal means the legislature is going to end its session friday. patients near the end of their lives could soon have a new ops to ease suffering. we're -- option to ease suffering. we're watching to see if governor scott's medical marijuana bill, that is now signed into law, it allows many to use the drug but many other sick people are still barred

in democracy 2016 -- four states are holding prime ministerreries or caucuses today and michigan will be the one to watch. michigan has the most delegates up for grabs. on the republican side 59 up for grabs there. next is mississippi with 40 delegates. in idaho they are also voting today. 32 delegates there. hawaii has 19. for the democrats, democrats also voting today in certain cities. let me clear that out and touch that one. michigan voting on 130 different delegates there. and down in mississippi, delegates down there, 36 total in that southern state. count on abc action news to keep you up to date with the latest results. a little later today, and tomorrow as well, tomorrow morning, we'll have all the results starting on our morning newscast at 4:30. we're a week away from the florida presidential primary, a

shows donald trump's lead is shrinking in the sunshine state. the billionaire just 8 points ahead of senator marco rubio. senator ted cruz is in third with 17%. ohio governor john kasich trails in fourth with 10%. florida's winner take all gop primary is critical for rubio to remain competitive. he's currently third behind trump and cruz in terms of overall delegates having won only minnesota and porkts. no surprise he's making the rounds throughout the bay area before florida's 99 delegates are on the table on the gop side. minnesota and puerto rico. >> right now no one is on pace to get all the delegates. we'll see what happens the next few weeks. the single biggest prize is florida and i need everyone's help. >> he held a rally at the convention center in tampa last night. more than 1,000 people were there. we'll follow the campaign this evening in sarasota. rubio is not the only one in florida.

a survivor of the boston marathon bombing died in a car accident overseas. victoria mcgrath and a friend were both students at a northeastern university. they were in a car accident in dubai when killed. a boston firefighter carried her away from the boston marathon bombing scene. captured in this well known photograph. right now georgia authorities are actively searching for a school teacher that didn't show up for work yesterday. police say that teacher's name is scott salter, his vehicle found in a hiking trail parking lot. he though has not been found. salter reportedly likes to hike offtrail, cartersville police department, sheriff's office,

department of natural resources are all searching for him now. take a look at this. a traffic snafu unlike any you've probably ever seen shut down both directions of a houston area interstate yesterday. a naked woman, you can't see her but she's there, dancing on the top of that 18-wheeler. despite police efforts to bring her down officers say she refused. she was in two minor hit-and- run crashes before this. witnesses say it's a sight they won't soon forget. >> she got out of the car and was going towards the 18- wheeler and all of a sudden she started to throw her clothes at the traffic, oncoming traffic. >> police say the woman was on that 18-wheeler, was talking about wall street and the cia and also aliens. investigators suspect she was under the influence of some sort of drug or alcohol. a kindergarten teacher in tacoma, washington, is accused of drinking in class, being so drunk in fact she walked into a wall. >> the teacher had a prior

elementary school in the same district in 2011. now she's out of a job. investigators say the teacher was intoxicated in her classroom and had alcohol in a beverage container. one student reported the incident at the main office. the assistant principal went to the class, had to help the teacher off campus. administrators sent a letter to parents but didn't say exactly why she was fired and that had some parents very upset. >> i think when it comes to this they should have explained. i mean that's a huge liability. you would expect any other profession to explain hey, we had this incident happen. >> the school district attorney says the school is appealing the decision to fire her. facebook could be your next stop to watch nfl games. >> the social media site says it's bidding to live stream the thursday night football games later this year. amazon, verizon, other streaming leaders are also interested. no word yet on what a company might have to pay to secure the

package reportedly is worth $450 million. stargazers and astronomy lovers flocking to indonesia. for a rare total solar eclipse. begins at 5:20 tonight. according to nasa the moon will black out the sun over the indonesian main island of sumatra. viewers will be treated to a beautiful halo effect as the earth, sun and moon align. you can watch that eclipse live at nasa.gov. >> or go to a plane and head to indonesia. >> just watch on-line. >> it's nice and warm there too like us. look what's going to happen as far as the viewable area. look at this. nice clouds, beginning to develop through the afternoon. by the way we're not going to rain with these clouds. these are just fair weather clouds that develop. not much vertical development with the clouds because of the sinking air. by the way here's the total solar eclipse.

the line here and there are a few clouds towards indonesia. may get a little off in some areas there but for the most part, by the way hawaiian ieltsdz, it will be well to the north. so no eclipse for you this time. there will be others and we'll wait for those. upper 60s, around 70 now with sunshine. we've been talking about severe weather, outgoing in texas. in fact i've been watching the radars in some of the areas here. definitely tornado on the ground now in some spots. so we're going to likely see damage reports coming from that. for us, this high pressure is going to be dominating our pattern. that is going to act as blocking situation where weather is not going to be able to come to our east and bring us the southeasterly wind which has moderated temperatures even through the overnight as well. see that flow with the clouds rolling from the south and either? this is going to remain locked in here for quite some time. we're not going to see rainfall associated with it. that is going to cause a problem, of course for portions of texas andly.

there for some time. temperatures from upper 60s to low 70s now to low to mid-80s later this afternoon. i think we'll be in great shape the next few days. if you are doing any boating, enough of a strong wind, we've talked about the sea breezes of late but southeasterly, should hold at 10 knots. moderate chop for the coastal waters. there are the thirds coming up the next 12 hours. there's the sunrise 6:47. and 6:35. add an hour to those and that is the deal on sunday as we spring forward. so we'll have sunset after 7:30. how about that? 7-day forecast into the next three days, low to mid-80s. look at the overnight temperatures. we've been seeing some 50s but now even at night we're going to warm up into the low to mid- 60s. you may not need jackets through the morning hours. low 80s on friday, again, stretch of nice weather and then on saturday and sunday that eventual boundary begins to move in. we'll have a few showers with it. it will clear out for early next week.

this is actually a traffic alert. affecting one of tampa's busiest roads. crews are inspecting a depression along bruce b downs to figure out if it's a sinkhole. if you plan on traveling in the area you need to know two southbound lanes of bruce b downs are currently closed near campus hill drive which is not far from usf's main campus. authorities say they expect to have a better idea of what it is sometime later today. we'll keep you updated on the situation as it develops. coming up, os"positively tampa bay," today we're visiting with the chiselers. >> volunteers restoring the

tell us what is new this year. >> new this year, we get donations all year round at the warehouse and we clean them up and pack them up and then wait until the week of spring break at u. t to bring everything to the university of tampa for the sale. we have made some changes this year, for instance, jewelry used to be in the middle of the hallway, of people who are jewelry aficionados. my daughters and are i familiar with where the jewelry is. >> it will now be in fletcher hall, at the end of the hallway, you have to go through the bargain department to get to the jewelry department. books now on the east veranda. and we have received tons of beautiful books. people go to kindles and things like that but i still love a book. >> books are fabulous. you have them for every age. you have the children's books, you have the history books.

i'm laura harris, host of "the now." we talked about two firefighters suspended from their jobs because they actually saved the life of a dying toddler, took her to the hospital in their fire truck. apparently that is against policy. but they saved her life. thousands are participating in the social media campaign now hoping they can get their jobs back. we have a great update coming up at 4:00. the solar eclipse is tonight. we've got the best place to see it and you don't even have to leave your bed. that and more at 4:00. weather here looks fantastic. have you heard? temperatures in the upper 70s to lower 80s this afternoon. even warmer the next few days as temperatures climb into the mid-80s. so a summer preview. then a couple of showers moving in by the time we get into the weekend. turns out mom was right again. haste makes waste.
