thank you for joining us. i'm sarina fazan. >> president obama's historic visit to cuba has been nonstop since the first family got off the plane this afternoon. >> raul castro was not there to meet him but will talk to him tomorrow. while the president's trip is all and business, today was also a chance for some family times. >> laura harris has been following the president's motorcade. >> it's been a very busy day since we got here this morning. >> we did a pretty good job. i want to show you this right now. the bus behind me a lot of rays fans got off of this bus. those are the doors the rays are going to be walking into any minute now. while we went on the rays, some video from earlier today, we got the president's motorcade just after leaving the airport. it's interesting to see the

the u.s. president. many of them understand the significance of the visit. even our cab driver took it in quietly. the first family taking a tour of old havana and visited the cathedral with with people of the catholic church who were instrumental in normalizing relations between the countries. we spoke to the mario rick priceman who made the trip. the focus has been on the president and his efforts to ease relations between cuba and the united states. about baseball. >> you talk about winning the lottery, that's what it feels like. to have all the major league teams picked here to let it be the rays that get selected by major league baseball. baseball. decision.

first pitch. major league baseball says that's actually going to be reserved for two cuban pitchers who are famous in that area. for you. does it sound familiar to you. he's actually on the tampa bay rays team. from cuba. he'll be getting off one of these buss in just a little bit as well. you can look for full reports coming up in the next few days. laura harris, thank you. >> of course campus is home to thousands of cuban americans. now the president's voice. >> i the question is is this trip progress or a mistake? >> we have more on the divide that still exists in the community.

cuban sandwiches are fresh. >> definitely have to keep this alive. the history, it's about the history of tampa. >> now is a time more than ever to celebrate that heritage as president obama celebrates cuba. >> some people can put aside past prejudicisms, what is our country about that. >> others worry that the u.s. is entering in a dangerous territory, working with what they see as a corrupt government abusive of its people.

got 64 in tampa and valerie co. a very mild night right now. by tomorrow morning, temperatures down another 15 degrees or so. our northern neighborhoods, it's going to get even colder on tuesday. we'll take a look at how low that mercury will dip into the work week. the weather forecast is coming up in about ten minutes. >> two 13-year-olds led deputies on a car chase. the ambulance was struck in a second crash. the girls lost control at the intersection of darlington road. the drama playing out this morning. later a man crashed his car. the man got a ticket for not yielding. the passengers are in serious condition.

police officer after he's near whether i hit by another wrong- way driver. police arrested this woman. they say she was driving the wrong way along i275 and showed signs of impairment. officers say she was speeding on the interstate around 5:00 this morning in the same lane as that patrol car. the officer was headed home behind the shift. he had to swerve out of the way, narrowly missing a crash. other officers later tracked her down as she was exiting in the wrong direction. just last weekend a wrong-way driver claimed the life of deputy -- that happened on the selmon expressway near brandon. fdot is installing signs and lights to help prevent these crashes. covering hernando county tonight where people are back in their homes after being

fire crews were called to killion street in spring hill tonight. an underground pipe from one of those homes was leaking propane gas. eight homes were cleared out. crews have now fixed that leak. >> new tonight, just one day after the police reported a spike in overdoses from the drug spice, another department is cracking down. clearwater police are arresting these two today. lawrence and marie caranance. several people had reactions to the dangerous drug. >> they're worried about targeting homeless people. a deputy is gunned down on the job and a second is fighting for his life. >> sergeant buckly were trying to serve a warrant at a trailer park this morning when someone

detectives later found this suspected gunman dead inside. coontz did not suffer revenue. he had been with the -- did not survive. he had been with the department for two years. with primaries in utah coming up, more violence breaking out at trump rallies in arizona. minutes later trump campaign manager appears to grab another demonstrator by the the collar of his shirt. these clashes come as a new republican campaign tries to stop trump. john kasich is now saying there's only one path to the nomination. >> everybody has got to face the fact that we're going to an open multiballot convention.

in an abc action news update, a little more than a year since the tragic death of phoebe johnchuck. a touching tribute today. her own father arrested for throwing her from the bridge back in january of 2015.

they say her sad story hits close to home. >> i have two daughters daughters of my own. it's hard to fathom why somebody could do something like that to their own child. >> for the second year, the must money raised will once again go to a scholarship for a social work student, the hope? to try to prevent these type of cases. phoebe's father remains in a state insurance decision. >> hurt in a crash is now getting a mental boost from his neighbors. we told you about a fire lieutenant who was hit nearly two months ago, he was riding home from work. his right arm and hand is injured. family and friends held an event in tampa. he's ready for a chance to get back out into the community. >> it's nice to see everybody.

faces, friends and family to come out and support this. >> facing a long road to recovery. he's undergoing physical therapy to undergo nerve damage in his arm. a huge python problem in florida r. searchers putting out these images of some of the more than 40 burmese pythons weighing a total of about a ton. pounds. scientists believe it's the largest male python ever recorded in south florida. well, a girl scout in colorado hailed a hero tonight after she help save her mother's life. the 11-year-old wears a scout metal of honor over her heart. she got the rare award for her quick actions when her mom had a diabetic episode. her mother's blood sugar dropped to a life-threatening level. >> i heard her fall out of her bed.

good idea of the clear skies right now as we're getting ready for what's left of the cold front kind of just pushing through, moving everything out. behind that, we'll get those north winds blowing with the north winds, the clear skies. it's going to get chilly. it's going to feel wintery by morning. even though today is actually the first day of spring. on that first day of spring, we hit a high of 77. the average of the highs over the past three decades, 67 our low. no rain in the gauge. in tampa. 65 in clearwater. and 66 in st. petersburg. that's as cool as it's gotten over the past several mornings. we do have temperatures into the 50s in the panhandle. this is what it's going to be 74 in west.

through the east coast where there's actually an area of low pressure. one of the nor'easters coming up the coast. that could bring in snow anywhere from 2-7, 8 inches of snow. spring has already sprung. gotten this front through. you can see the clearing back behind it. and for the overnight, we're going to be chilling out. as the breezes come in, it will bring the cooler air in as well. and it's going to stick around for a couple of mornings. looking at 50 in tampa. 49 for lutz. closer to the water, it's not going to get as cool. 46 in hernando and crystal river. about 48 in spring hill. inland areas further off to the south, not quite as cold. 54 in lake placid.

on monday morning, it's going to get even chillier on tuesday morning as the cold air settles in. here's the way things look as we warm up tomorrow. if the 50s up to about the mid- 60s that's as warm as we can get. 74 is your gulf water temperature with those north winds tomorrow. we're going to see the seas kick up 10-14 feet. small craft advisories will be in effect. the sun will be up at 7:43. you can see a lot of sun over the next couple of days. the warm flow coming into the middle of the week. after an overnight low of 48 monday night to tuesday. that's florida's most accurate forecast. you can check it out anytime. coming up, the rays offense providing a big spark in its final tuneup before cuba. ben bishop sets a record r. do
