told us he's about 10 minutes away from the scene. he'll join us for a live report as soon as he gets a chance to catch up with investigators. meanwhile janelle martinez is monitoring the road closures. >> let's look at where this crash happened on the map. at the southern end of the airport. that is right where this happened. so university parkway is closed now between old bradenton road and desoto road. university kind of dips in here at old bradenton road. that is where the crash happened. so desoto road is still open, it run parallel to university before they intersect. that is an option if you're trying to get around this crash. or if you're coming from the west you may want to take talavast road so you stay clear of the accident where there's a lot of activity. you can expect that part of university to be closed for several hours. again, corey dierdorff almost there, as soon as he gets there we will have more on this story

cuba at the baseball field. where they will also play the cuban national team tuesday. we'll bring you the very latest on air and on-line. back to you. as president obama makes history in cuba there's a new health warning out for the island nation. the centers for disease control says the zika virus is spreading in cuba so pregnant women should avoid traveling there. cuban health officials say at least five people are infected with the virus, more than 100 others are showing symptoms. the virus is spread through mosquitos and is linked to dangerous birth defects. more than 115 million judgment that swung in favor of the hulk hogan could be a drop in the bucket compared to what he could end up with when a jury decides on possible punitive damages. gawker could be footing big bucks for posting the wrestling star's sex tape. abc action news reporter rodney

we're talking big money here. >> reporter: we certainly are, especially considering as you said the jury already awarded hulk hogan $115 million in this case, in effect this lawsuit and also the damages awarded could possibly put this popular web site out of business, however lawyers for gawker do contend they plan to appeal this case. when the jury reconvenes this morning they will be deciding homuch to tack on in punitive damageses as you mentioned. it's meant to punish defendants for the intentional wrongdoings so to speak. experts believe gawker's appeal will focus on recently unsealed documents. and lawyers for gawker contend that hogan filed this lawsuit in effect to hide the racist statements he made in that video. now something important to remember here, a number of times when cases are appealed in court these large verdicts are reduced so if hulk hogan does eventually get paid out in this case it will more than likely be a lot less than the

awarded and possibly less than the punitive damages he receives as well. of course we will be inside the courtroom a bit later today and you can follow all those developments on-line at abcactionnews.com. for now reporting live in st. pete, rodney dunigan, abc action news. 5:36. we're just learning the name of the latest service member killed by enemy fire in northern iraq. the department of defense saying staff sergeant lewis f. cardin was a marine from southern california. and say he died two days ago from injuries when his rocket was hit by rocket fire. the last killing of a service member in iraq was in october of 2015. the lone surviving terrorist of the paris attacks is talking to investigators and admitting he was planning more attacks. salah abdelslam was arrested this weekend. according to the belgian foreign minister, with him a large number of weapons were

saleh abdelslam is now fighting extradition to france and his lawyers say they will take legal action against the paris prosecutor for revealing details about the interrogation. he's scheduled to make his first court appearance on wednesday. time now 5:37. in democracy 2016 -- presidential hopeful donald trump is addressing some white house business this morning. the gop frontrunner says he's releasing a list of five or 10 judges he would like to nominate to the supreme court if elected. last night in florida he said by releasing the list now he hopes to kill any concern his judge choice would be too liberal. trump says he'll pick judges everybody respects and likes and totally admires. meanwhile the fbi is looking into a threatening letter sent to trump's sister who was a judge in philadelphia. officials say donald trump's son eric trump received a threatening letter friday urging trump to leave the race. eric trump has been campaigning for his new york real estate mogul father who has been

comments about women and immigrants including saying mexicans in the u.s. illegally are rapists. just a day ahead of the tuesday primaries the violence continues at trump rallies. in arizona a protester beaten and hospitalized this weekend and minutes later the trump campaign manager appears to grab another demonstrator by the collar of his shirt. the trump campaign defending that manager this morning blaming the man next to him for pulling the protester. on the democratic side bernie sanders holding a packed rally in washington state saying he expects to do well in the western primaries and in an attack sanders says he doesn't often make to other opponents. shared his confidence that trump won't be our next president. >> the reason that i think donald trump is not going to be president of the united states, that i am quite sure of -- >> [ cheering and applause ] -- is because the american

45:44. two boys are recovering in maryland after falling into a 34-foot deep hole over the weekend. they say the boys were playing

ground gave way beneath them. one boy got out but authorities had to lower a rescuer down to grab the other boy. >> i go to look down in it, i hear somebody screaming up to me help. i realized there was somebody in there. jumped on the phone, called 911, told them to get as many out here as possible to save this kid. >> the rescue took about 45 minutes. that hole now marked off with caution tape and officials put a heavy steel plate over the hole to make sure no one else gets hurt. you might not have realized pythons this big. they live along side us in florida and this morning we're getting a look at a huge python problem in south florida. researchers putting out some of the pictures of the more than 40 burmese pythons they've caught just in the past three months. all of them weighing a total of about oneen to. one of the -- oneton. one snake measures 16 feet and 140 pounds. scientists believe it's the largest male python ever recorded in south florida.

>> they are getting bigger i think. >> you would think it would be too cold for them today. it's going to be too cold for the pythons, other reptiles, for the flowers that are coming out and for the rest of us as we have to bundle up. we have a cold front well down to the south. pretty potent for this time of year. a band of cirrus clouds, that allows for temperatures not to fall as much across these areas here. but further to the north, clearer skies, the winds are gusty. it's going to feel mighty chilly through the rest of today. temperatures now in the upper 50s. again factor in cooler wind chills as a result. it's been gusting upwards of 35. look at the 24-hour temperature difference. this time yesterday we were 16 degrees warmer and now 16 degrees cooler in brooksville, minus 10 in sebring and tampa nine news 12 and minus 9 in st. pete. i think we'll actually be colder tomorrow as the winds

temperatures in the 50s now. we'll get back into the low to mid-60s, that's it for highs today. we have not had -- we've been seeing lows in the upper 60s and low 70s. low temperatures, these will be our highs for today, so a dramatic turn of events for the first week of spring. 43 brandon. 41 zephyrhills. tomorrow colder, we lose the wind. winds become light to calm and so with clear skies all the heat from today will go out into space. so that is how we're going to wake up, with chilly temperatures. the good thing about that, we won't have a wind chill to contend with in the morning, but temperatures cold enough we won't need it. 73 for tuesday. look at this moderating trend. that is quick. southeast wind takes over, it's march in florida. high sun angle so we can't keep much colder temperatures despite the fact this is potent front.

and heading into saturday and into sunday. janelle, windy out there but otherwise certainly no fog at this time. you might feel the wind when you cross over the bridges especially the sunshine skyway, fhp asking drivers to use some caution, both hands on the wheel when driving across the sunshine skyway. here we are -- corey, why don't you take it from here? >> reporter: we're off university parkway in sarasota. you can see behind me we're going to stay a little wide, it's a very extensive scene with the single-vehicle accident. right now university parkway between old bradenton road and desoto road is shut down due to the crash. sarasota police department saying it took place before 3:00 a.m. we're hearing that three people died in the crash. a fourth person was rushed to the hospital. but is expected to survive. police say they don't know what caused the crash but they do believe speed was a factor. they are also look -- looking to see if drugs or alcohol

in a car crash in sarasota. that is now shutting down some roads. >> abc action news reporter corey dierdorff just got to the scene a couple of minutes ago. he joins us live with the very latest. corey? >> reporter: good morning. university parkway shut down right now in both directions. you can see it's a very large scene from this single vehicle crash. that road shut down between bradenton road, old bradenton road and desoto road. we're going to zoom in, but keep a wider shot with respect to the three victims. sarasota police department 3:00 a.m. we're hearing three people died, a fourth person was taken the hospital. but is expected to survive. police say they don't know what caused this crash at this time, they do believe the speed was a factor. they are till looking to see if drugs or alcohol played a role in the single car crash. we're working to gather the names of those involved in this crash but expect that roadway to be shut down for several hours as this is going to be a
