personnel told to stay in their offices or stay home. this is days after the prime suspect in the paris attacks was arrested in brussels, saleh abdelslam. he told investigators he was planning other attacks. we'll keep you updated. to another breaking story we're following. an on-line sale leads to violence in ruskin overnight. this morning three people in the hospital recovering from the shooting. deputies say a group of people met up last night to sell items listed on an internet web site when someone pulled out a gun and started to fire. we're going to be keeping track of both of these stories throughout the morning. for now let's go over to meteorologist ivan cabrera to look at today's forecast. a cold start. you need a jacket. >> it's cold indeed. we're talking about frost. can you imagine, first week of spring. frost advisories continue in effect until 9:00 a.m. across noncoastal citrus and hernando counties. pasco doing fine, hillsborough as well as far as frost but you're not doing ok as far as the temperatures.

looking anywhere from 5 to as cold as 15 degrees colder than yesterday morning. that puts us in the 30s up to the north. lakeland at 43. 44 brandon, 50 tampa. 6:01 and we have another hour, hour and-a-half and the temperatures continue to fall. the readings will be a little colder before we start to go the other way. and we will today. temperatures will warm up, certainly warmer than yesterday and it won't feel as cold because the temperatures are going to be mild, also the wind has been lost. that is going to feel excellent. you walk outside today with that sunshine and 73, 74 degrees. it's going to be feeling fantastic compared to where we were yesterday at this time. >> you start with the sweaters and end up in tank tops. if you're heading out in sarasota we have an update on the crash we told but earlier at i-75 and university parkway. the roadblock seems to be more on the university parkway in the eastbound lanes. and we are seeing backups to honoray.

stirring a little bit of controversy. >> reporter: it certainly is. many folks in the cuban community in the u.s. see this as a slap in the face. they see the pain endured but so many folks by -- by so many folks in cuba and they say that is being ignored. the game and meeting between president obama and cuba's ruler raul castro is a major shift in relations. the communist cuban government has resisted change for a half century. the u.s. still has an embargo against cuba and that still stands today. president obama has maintained that cuba has to make changes in respect to basic human freedoms. >> we continue as president castro indicated to have serious differences including on democracy and human rights. and president castro and i have had very frank and candid conversations on these subjects. >> reporter: president obama will be making an address to

he will also be attending that game between the tampa bay rays and the cuban national team. that game set for 1:30 this afternoon. reporting live from tropicana field, rodney dunigan, abc action news. hot on the heels of the president's historic trip we've just learned cruises to cuba will set sail from florida in just a matter of weeks. carnival is launching voyages from miami to cuba in may. this makes it the first cruise line to set sail to cuba from the u.s. in more than 50 years. experts say other major cruise lines like royal caribbean can also win approval for their own cuba trips soon. a land o' lakes video shows how dangerous the trip from america to cuba is for cuban refugees. this shows workers on a royal caribbean cruise ship pulling 18 refugees to safety from a

the coast guard says the refugees were floating for more than three weeks at sea. just over 100 miles away from florida's coast. the smith family filmed this rescue while on their way to a vacation in mexico. >> still screaming. even thougher in in a rescue boat and they can at least relax a little bit they couldn't because they were just probably hallucinating, not knowing what is going on. >> sadly nine other refugees died, the ones who survived were turned over to authorities once the cruise ship docked and they will be deported. now to a huge development, apple's clash with the fbi. you remember apple refused to help unlock a terrorist's i- phone claiming it would create a dangerous back door that could put all i-phone users' privacy and security at risk. now the fbi says it might have a way to unlock the san bernardino shooter's i-phone without apple's help. agents are still trying to figure out if the method will work without damaging the data.

will show them the method if it works. 6:05. we're keeping you posted on the explosive hulk hogan sex tape case that is still making headlines in the bay area and beyond. hearing from a juror now who helped decide how much money the former wwe star should get. yesterday the jury said hogan should get an extra $25 million in punitive damages. all told gawker will have to pay $140 million for posting that sex tape of hogan to its web site. gawker says the tape was newsworthy and protected by the first amendment. the jury sided with hogan who argues he never knew he was on the camera and it was an invasion of privacy. >> the conversation between him and the woman in the camera, if you are going to be videoed, you would not be talking like

the high migrates east. an easterly flow brings clouds off the atlantic and increases our rain chances the next few days with the temperatures. that will help moderate our air mass. looking much milder. then a front arrives that will pull in moisture ahead of it and guess what? the front stalls to our north probably meanders over the weekend here. not as cool this afternoon and much milder as we get into the morning hours tomorrow. by the afternoon 80-degree weather comes back. still with comfortable humidity, then we'll increase humidity, moisture, temperatures, rain chances, 30% coverage on thursday. then we'll look at 40 to 50% rain chances, occasional on and off showers as it looks now with a lot of cloud cover through the weekend and heading into early next week. let's go to the traffic center and see if anything is brewing on the roads. we have an update on the crash we were talking about earlier in sarasota. eastbound university parkway, crash seems to be in the

in a second but first, in a few hours president obama is scheduled to speak to the cuban people. just about the rationale behind trying to improve relations between the two countries. yesterday it was a big move, we saw history happening as president obama and cuban president raul castro vowing to continue to press forward with the changes, loosening the strings on the more than 50- year-old embargo. and the two expected to unite again today but this time through sport. they are both scheduled to attend the baseball game between the tampa bay rays and cuban national team in havana this afternoon. i spoke to some of the rays, they say it's more than just an honor to play in front of the cuban people and people from back home but also a chance to be part of history. >> hopefully we bring some -- we take some awareness of what is actually going on here and hopefully the people from cuba

jaw-dropping video. a child's dangerous ride on the interstate, fortunately some good samaritans stepped in to make sure the story had a happy anthony stewart noticed the child riding south on 275 yesterday. you see him on a bicycle in the top of the screen? he and two other drivers, created a moving wall to make sure no one hit him. stewart said he followed the young boy three miles until he toll plaza. troopers say the boy has a unexpectedly. he was not hurt and is back home with his parents this morning. >> if it was my kid i would want somebody to please get him out of the road. i don't want to visit the kids in a funeral. i'm sure his parents didn't either. i felt like it's my duty. >> again troopers say that boy has a disability and left home unexpectedly. stay with our abc action news and you can see more of that video on our app. now up to date on breaking news we told but yesterday. we learned a group of young men were celebrating birthdays just

sarasota killing three of them. a fourth victim survived, he and the driver of the car who died just turned 21. officers say that car was speeding on university parkway when it ran off the road hitting several trees. police say toxicology results are expected within the next few weeks to see if drugs or alcohol also played a role. a final goodbye for hillsborough county deputy who sacrificed his life to save a stranger. a wake will be held today for deputy john kotfila in his massachusetts hometown followed by burial tomorrow. earlier this month kotfila drove in between a wrong way driver and another car on the selmon expressway absorbing the impact of the crash. we just found out that wrong way driver who also died had a blood alcohol level more than three times the legal limit. cold start. temperatures in the 30s and 40s but we're right at 50 in tampa, st. pete milder there by the afternoon. we warm up to the 70s with full

posted on morning news. from belgium, at least 15 people are dead and more than 50 injured in what is called coordinated terror attacks at the brussels airport and metro stations nearby. we've just pulled this video from the feeds. this is from outside one of the metro stations there, people taping to the maybe injured -- attending to the many injured. all flights have been cancelled in and out of the brussels airport and the terror alert to its highest level there. and witnesses say at least one of the attacks specifically at the airport was from a suicide bomber and described the aftermath as like a war scene. we know of fatalities at this metro station but we're working to get an exact number. i just read a report on twitter of one belgian firefighter saying there may be as many as 21 people dead. we're continuing to monitor this all morning. good morning.

there's also a bus stop. apparently that little white suv collided with the bus stop. don't know if anyone was sitting there at the time. doesn't look that way. police on scene letting cars get by, not really creating a traffic problem. you -- ulmerton road deading busy towards the howard frankland bridge. cold start. january temperatures in the mid and upper 30s throughout the nature coast where temperatures are expected to drop a little bit more so this morning. frost advisory that continues into 9:00 a.m. away from the coast. st. pete, the warm spot. high pressure on top of us, calm winds, clear skies. the high moves east and the flow turns to the east southeast bringing more cloud cover, additional moisture as well and by the time we get into thursday rain chance already up. we're going to have that moisture really climb up.

the north, it will have a hard time pushing south so it's going to hang out across the north and meander here that means rain chances increase. by the way the temperature this afternoon despite the cold start with the easterly flow beginning to moderate now. low 70s. we lost the winds so won't feel as cold. overnight temperatures tonight, dropping into the 50s. and with that head start we're up to 80 degrees by the afternoon, upper 70s along the coast and we'll check the extended forecast as we take you into thursday. that is when our rain chances go up. 30% coverage for occasional showers. the problem is that front doesn't clear out so as long as it hangs out here the rain chances remain. that will continue into the weekend, rain chance 50%. look at the temperatures. mild stuff, low 80s with overnight temperature in the 70s. 6:49. breaking overnight in ruskin, we're following a shooting that sent three people to the hospital and seemed to stem from an argument over an on- line sale.

lifer from the neighborhood where this happened to explain. >> reporter: good morning. once again quiet in this neighborhood but hours ago a much different story as shots rang out on this quiet street. deputies clearing the scene about 45 minutes ago and now investigators are going through evidence to try to figure out what exactly happened here. what we know so far -- right now around 10:00 p.m. last night a group of people met up on fire rock place to sell items they listed on an web site. some sort of fight happened and while the deal was going down shots were hit. three people were taken to the hospital, they are expected to survive. as what led to the argument, how it got to the point of shots fired, that is still unknown at this hour. we're also working to work gather who was shot and who is in custody.

jurors didn't believe the statements he took her from a car so he could conduct a safer traffic investigation. after pulling her over for a broken taillight. she was found dead in her jail cell after her arrest, death ruled a suicide. her relatives though filed a wrongful death lawsuit. two state agencies in new york are investigating how a licensed funeral home sent the wrong body to a funeral service. 81-year-old val jean mcdonald died of lung cancer in december. her family had an open casket funeral service for her in the bronx. during the service a 10-year- old boy noticed it was not his grandmother in the casket. >> my son came and tapped me and said that don't look like grandma val. we didn't realize it until afterwards because the woman looked so much like my mother. we figured after so long in the hospital that when you have stage 4 cancer that it would actually change you.

good morning, america. at least three explosions rocked the capital of brussels this morning. a suicide bomber reportedly targets the crowded airport. >> there were explosions in the main building. >> ceilings collapsing. running for their lives. another blast rocks a metro station. just days after a major suspect in the paris terror attacks is arrested. americans in europe told to shelter in place. nypd set to ramp up security here in new york. the hunt is on right now for who's behind these blasts.
