>> then yet another explosion going through a subway station just over an hour later. confirmed dead. nearly 190 others injured. wounded. including a u.s. service man and three mormon missionaries from utah. all of them suffering serious injuries. the belgium prime minister declaring three days of national mourning. belgium police meanwhile releasing this video of the possible bombers. they believe the two policemen in black are dead. authorities are issued a wanted notice for the man in the tan jacket on the right. authorities discovering a third bomb belt that was not detonated. he possibly left it at the airport. police safely neutralized the device. the facility will remain closed at least through tomorrow.

now in denver, part of the denver international airport evacuated over a possible security threat. the heightened alert caused by the bombings in brussels. we are told the west side of the main terminal is being swept and no vehicle traffic is being allowed on that side of the facility. so far nothing credible has been found. and as we mentioned homes ago, raids underway right now in brussels. authorities confirming in one home they found chemicals, an isis flag, and a bomb that contained nails, among other things. that kind of device used in today's attack. a hospital releasing this x-ray showing a large nail or screw logged in a victim's chest. it appears to have punctured the lung causing it to partially collapse. no word on how that person is doing right now. fear reaching from brussels all the way to the bay area tonight. people are friends and family are nervous about their loved

ryan raiche spoke to a lakeland missionary who is in brussels right now and a tour operator who was there just two weeks ago. >> a lot of tension right now of course. >> reporter: for the last two and a half years, tom and his wife phyllis of lakeland have been doing god's work in brussels, belgium. missionaries spreading the gospel. today their world came to a screeching halt. >> there's a lot of concern. a lot of people say they are praying for us and we appreciate that. >> reporter: this local couple were not in harm's way when three explosions killed at least 30 in brussels but some of their friends, also missionaries, narrowly escaped the airport. >> he just dropped his bags and just kind of ran for cover. >> reporter: it turns out that buts brussels is a popular spot for tourists, especially for people in florida. you get a similar experience of london or paris with half the airfare. the images that he saw from the

to home. >> i was at that starbucks that the second bomb hit really just a couple weeks ago. >> reporter: today he spent the morning reaping out to colleagues to make sure they're okay and taking calls from nervous, local clients about to head to the spot of so much carnage. >> fear is justified tomorrow and next week. but we're talking about large cities with millions of people, large security forces. >> reporter: although the city is now in lockdown mode, he still feels safe living there. mission. >> i feel more fear in some parts of florida than i do, you >> reporter: in lakeland, ryan raiche, abc action news. >> two school employees also in explosions were happening. the chancellor dr. sandra stone and director of global engagement mallick are in brussels tonight. both are safe and unharmed.

anyone with friends and family in brussels to get in touch with them. they will waive or credit all fees to text messages and calls to belgium between now and next monday. this includes land lines and cell phones. happening right now, airports around the country, including tampa international airport, on high alert following the attack. one flightone flight landing in tampa from brussels. lauren rozyla was there when the flight landed. they didn't even know what happened until they got back here to the u.s. is that right? >> reporter: it's an incredible to think about. yes, they were on that flight for about nine hours, having going on. many of them just having to turn on their phones to figure out exactly what had happened over in belgium. now, they were finally able to come through these doors to greet family members after

now, immediately after this plane touched down, law enforcement arrived searching it at the tarmac. and all of this took nearly an hour. if you believe it, the passengers didn't even go to the gate and they were bussed to the terminal for more extensive security checks. now, they just say they're grateful to be on american soil. >> we're okay now. we're just happy to be home. >> i felt blessed because where everyone was saying it was happening, i was right there. it could have been something like i missed a ticket or my bag needed to get checked again and i could have been in that situation. >> reporter: and we talked to so many family members that were out there waiting today for these loved ones to arrive from brussels. many not having any idea if their family members and loved ones even made it on to the flight. of course there was a much larger police presence here at the airport all afternoon. now, back out here live, we

flight were able to make it through the doors and finally come back here after hours of extensive security checks. we learned that several of the bags were checked. possibly even by dogs. and all of that to make sure that everything was safe before they were finally able to come home. reporting live in sanford tonight, lauren rozyla, abc action news. >> thank you, lauren. president obama meanwhile keeping tabs on the terror attacks in brussels while on his historic trip to cuba. over any shoulder you see susan rice and the president getting there. in light of the attack, president obama and 55,000 people at the rays baseball game in cuba starting with a moment of silence. secretary of state john kerry and raul castro also attending that game. and with so many high-profile people at an outdoor stadium, laura harris shows us what security was like after hearing

>> reporter: security has been security since we got here at 9:00 this morning. it only took five minutes to get through. with 55,000 people in the stadium, they made sure that the bags went through the x-ray machine and they patted everyone down. around 11:00 to 12:00, everybody had to stop and make sure that everything was secure and safe. the security measures were already set before the attacks in brussels happen. >> the security here is as a result of the president's visit. the cuban security and our own security was as tight and high as it could be in the first place. there really wasn't a need to change. but believe me, we have taken every precaution in terms of security at this stadium. >> reporter: after the game, the rays were headed straight to the airport and there were no reports of any delayed or canceled flights going in and out of havana. in havana, laura harris. back to you. >> in the meantime our coverage of the attack in brussels

will be tomorrow morning in a bit. >> thank you, shay. two skydivers are in the hospital following a midair collision over zephyr hills. one ending up four mild away from where he was supposed to land. that man is lucky to be alive tonight. >> reporter: a terrifying accident in the sky. two experienced skydivers smash into each other during a free fall. >> it's not much different than one car going faster than the other one on a highway and bumping into each other. >> reporter: david hayes is the president and general manager of skydive city. the two were jumping from more than 14,000 feet. one was able to deploy his parachute and land but the other man may have been knocked unconscious. a safety mechanism set off the reserve chute 750 feet above the ground. that skydiver was found right here laying face down. but according to witnesses, he hit this utility pole before he hit the ground.

stuff and he could move his head. but we wouldn't let him move. we kept him still. >> reporter: pat saw that man come crashing down. this arrow marks the spot where he was found. she says he was talking but was obviously injured. >> he didn't move his legs once. so from his waist down, it looked like he couldn't move at all. >> reporter: this is the second serious incident this month. a man was killed in early march when his main chute failed and he didn't activate his reserve. hayes says all of those accidents have been human error. they do 70,000 jumps a year. the vast majority are incident free. people know the dangers and doesn't believe that the accidents will keep people from jumping. >> sometimes the mistakes unfortunately can be minor. but in skydiving they can have grave consequences. >> still to come on abc action news at 6:00, shot by her 4- year-old son.

that's coming up tomorrow on "good morning america." and new developments for a jacksonville gun advocate shot by her 4-year-old son. putnam county deputies now recommending that she face criminal charges. the gun slid from under her seat to the back seat of her car while she and the boy were driving. the 4-year-old got ahold of it and shot his mother in the back. deputies believe she should be charged with not properly securing the gun that carries up to 180 days in jail. the state attorney's office will have the final say on charges. memorials are repped from the ground, not by vandals but a change in city code. kara shows us the mess and heart break left behind. >> reporter: bin after bin of

all of these items put here at the city barn after the city yanked them out of the ground at this cemetery. this is people's hearts poured out to their loved ones. >> cliff died last year. this is what the gravesite used to look like. fence, flowers and a toy windmill. this is what it looks like now, a mud patch and bare headstone. >> it looks like a mother buried her child and didn't care about it. >> reporter: things like statues and flowers are not allowed to sit on the ground if the city finds them unsightly. what they cannot understand is why they would get rid of brand- new arrangements and personal family momentos placed at the gravesites. jim skull is furious that his dad's medal was pulled from the

after tonight for that matter. take a look right now at the main sail beach in. it's gorgeous out there. folks waiting for the sun to set. it's bound to be beautiful given how gorgeous today has been. speaking of today, we started out about 11 degrees below average at 48 degrees this morning in tampa. and then the high today has been 71 degrees. below the average of 77 for this time of year. so we're going to start to see the temperatures get back to average in the morning and above average for tomorrow afternoon. bigger jump in temperatures ahead. i'll show you more on that in a moment. for tonight, we're still on the cool side because we have the northerly flow, bringing in the cooler, dry air from the north. tonight, still on the dry side and the cool side. but more comfortable than what we experienced overnight last night. and this is the system i'm

will bring us our next chances for rain. and i say chances because it arrives on friday. and then just parks itself on top of the state for days. in fact, it looks like it will hang out even longer than what i was telling you about yesterday. so let's enjoy this gorgeous weather while it lasts. 57 as the overnight low tonight in tampa. comfortably cool is what i'm calling it. winds shifting from the north to the east tonight. and then tomorrow, more southeasterly. that's where we see the warmth and the humidity pumping in. a gorgeous day for tomorrow hanging out in the backyard. if your kids happen to be off for school. a beautiful day for jumping in the pool with 80 degrees as the high. and tomorrow will be a dry day again. ask those rain chances start going up on thursday evening as the front gets a little closer to us. i don't think we will see a lot of rain on thursday.

we will have higher chances for rain. maybe even an isolated thunderstorm in the mix. as a result the temperatures go back down to 80 degrees. still around average for this time of year. then the rain chance continues all the way into tuesday now. we will have another front that approaches on monday and helps to kick all of this out of the area. so by tuesday afternoon, we're going to return to more sunshine and drier conditions. we at least have a chance for rain early in the day if it holds. sunday i know, easter sunday we have deseptember rain chances off and -- decent rain chances off and on throughout the day. and that's florida's most accurate 7-day forecast. back to you guys. hello, folks. for a few hours at least sports today. differences in politics set aside for a historic afternoon of baseball between the rays havana. president obama and president
