abc action news at 4:30. three young girls fall about 45 feet from a ferris wheel in tennessee. what witnesses say went wrong. >> a home invasion burglary in the bay area to tell you about. authorities looking for a man that kicked in a woman's front door, what happened and what they stole straight ahead. >> last time it rained lik the street with my kids on my shoulders to get out. >> another round of rain could cause more flooding in the bay area. one man says a street in front of his house is impassable. thank you for joining us for abc action news on this tuesday. i'm dan shaffer. >> good morning, i'm deiah riley. floodwaters are inching closer and closer to homes in pasco county. >> as reporter marisela burgos shows us a new round of rain is making homeowners worried. >> every time it rains you have

>> reporter: matthew knows that's how he will feel tomorrow. >> if it rains tonight like it did last night the water will be at my front door when i get up in the morning. we probably won't be able to get out. >> reporter: he can't afford for that to happen, the street in front of his house is impassable. crews pumped water out most of the day. >> they've been doing it all day. i just wish they didn't stop. >> reporter: pacific pacific is expected to hit -- with even more rain. >> we did tactical planning in preparation for what may happen overnight tonight and into tomorrow morning. >> reporter: roughly 40 people on standby in case it gets bad and coming in earlier than usual tuesday regardless of what happens. kevin guthrie, director of emergency services admits it was not in good shape last year but it's in much better shape

issues come forward, how we'll respond, what we're going to do. >> reporter: water went into matthew's garage last year and this year he hopes these sandbags will keep it out. >> it's a retention pond overflowing, pretty much, every year. two, three times a year. >> that was marisela burgos reporting. there are several locations in pasco county where you can get sandbags. three are in new port richey, another in hudson. sand and shovel. we have an update on a 16- year-old boy shot last night in eastern hillsborough county. deputies now say it was a possible drug deal gone bad. the teen was shot in the face, happened in a home on progress boulevard west of falkenburg road. deputies say the teen was conscious but is not cooperating with the investigation. so far no arrests in this case. three young girls are recovering after falling about 45 feet from the basket of a ferris wheel in tennessee.

county fair last night. witnesses say the car that the girls were in got stuck as the wheel turned and dumped them out. the girls bounced off the wheel's metal frame, eventually hit the ground. authorities are not saying how badly they are injured but we're hearing they are alert and talking to the hospital staff. there are reports they are in good condition now. all of the rides at the fair are shut down until they are inspected by a third party. it appears the zika outbreak is spreading in south florida. the state now conf this one in palm beach county. officials say that person though did recently travel to miami-dade county. this makes 17 locally acquired cases in florida that -- the previous 16 infections were all in the winwood arch district of miami. a homeowner says banging on her front door turned out to be burglars. the victim says she saw two suspicious men through the

then they kicked in her door. it happened yesterday morning in the central point subdivision in winter haven. they stole a tv and her purse but the victim wasn't hurt. if you know anything about it or who they are call winter haven police. when you're in the hospital you expect to be safe but that wasn't the case for one local woman. another patient actually attacked her in her hospital bed. abc action news reporter michael paluska tells us what bayfront hospital staff is now doing to safe. we'll have that in a few minutes. there's a resource fair in pinellas county to help families affected by dementia. at the regal palms assisted living facility, 300 lake avenue northeast in largo. runs from 10:00 to 2:00. more than 25 vendors will be present to provide knowledge and services.

the problem is we've already rained a lot. some areas pick upwards of 10 inches here. pinellas and heading to pasco, of course the areas hardest hit are the areas that continue to see the heavy rain. it's moderate at this point, nothing recommendation but it will head to the -- north really heavy but we will talk more about this in a few minutes. let's look at the morning commute. this is i-275 road 60. a lot of traffic out there this morning. it's wet out there. take care on the roads, no problems in this particular stretch of road. but of course we're watching the other bay area roads in the area, we'll let you know how they are shaping up, coming up in a moment. delta airlines is going to try to find seats for tens of thousands of passengers whose flights were cancelled yesterday. a power outage knocked out computer systems world wilde.

delayed or cancelled. the airline says it's back up and running but they are investigating the cause of the meltdown. a central florida city bus driver is being disciplined for leaving a passenger locked in his bus for 20 minutes. the passenger says the driver got off without saying anything. that is when he started to record video. the driver got out to use the restroom which is allowed but a bus line spokesperson says the driver didn't communicate that to the rider. the rider says he was just a few blocks from home and never he's been riding the bus. ferry service between tampa and st. pete could get final approval today. pinellas county is the last government to approve the program. it's set to vote on it today. the ferry pilot program would launch in november, it would run through april. the service would run from the convention center in downtown tampa to the venoy basin in st. pete. a one-way ticket would cost about $10.

back to the so-called in a hospital bed -- sexual assault in a hospital bed. a woman says another patient attacked her. michael paluska tells us what

safe. >> reporter: the arrest affidavit terrifying, a man attacks a female patient in her own room. the accused attacker is another patient, police charged david webber with sexual battery. the report says webber went into the victim's room with his hospital gown tied around his waist and started to kiss the victim's face. he then ripped her sensors off her chest and began to grope her. the victim screamed for help when the charge nurse came in and told st. pete police webber was still on top of the victim on her we tried to get someone at bayfront hospital to talk on camera about patient safety in a hospital that is this big but instead we were given a statement. it reads in part -- we have in place training and education to help staff identify and if necessary intervene in a wide range of scenarios. we continually assess these measures to ensure they are effective and responsive."

sessionual battery and -- sexual battery and he, according to police admitted he did this and it was random and never saw the victim before. he's held on $20,000 bond. in st. petersburg, michael paluska, abc action news. authorities in massachusetts are searching for the person that killed a google executive. 27-year-old vanessa marcotte disappeared while out jogging in suburban boston sunday afternoon. marcotte was in town from new york visiting her mom. police found her naked and burned body authorities say they don't know now if it was -- if the murder was randsom but police are urging locals to be on alert. we're now hearing from the mother of twin 1-year-old girls who died in a hot car last week near atlanta. she was in the hospital with her sister who was in a terrible car accident, she says it's the first time she had left the girls with their father. in their father's care. police say he was drunk when he left them in a hot car

i'm not making this up. watch for yourself. there he goes. apparently everybody's ok. acting goofy? >> i guess so. teens spend a lot of time on social media, you may want to play video games instead. a new study finds gamers score higher than average in math, reading and science on an international exam. on the other hand teens active on social media scored 4% lower on math than average. the study is published in international journal of communication. good morning on this tuesday. still raining, right? no surprise there but we have better news coming up the next few days. we have this cluster of showers and storms off-shore. but it's this area of rain that we've been following through the morning. at this point just light to moderate showers as it rolled through. as it came in along the coast, dropped a good one to three inches pretty quickly and so again this is the issue, with

cluster, we'll be arriving in the next hour up to the northern counties. we'll watch that. there's the latest rainfall. it's the last three hours, this is the kind of rainfall rate that this weather pattern we've been in has been producing, some tropical rains without lightning, just very fat raindrops that come down hard and heavy and can accumulate quickly. of course we can't drain the water as fast so we get into some trouble. here's the low to our north and west on the southern side of it it's still pumping in a lot of moisture so i think today still another day with pockets of heavy rain although for the morning commute it's not going to be as nasty as we had yesterday here as far as the widespread rainfall that impacted all our interstate. completely dry but not as bad. there's the low, where is it going? it's moving away. that is what is important. look at this chunk of clear air, we'll begin to reset the atmosphere so we can get sunshine sunshine through the morning. then we're in the middle of summer and wet season so we'll be talking about afternoon summer thunderstorms. which is more typical.
