for michael brown. protesters gathered to mark a second anniversary of brown's death. witnesses say the shots were fired after cars sped through the crowd hitting a protester. police say there's no evidence anyone was actually shot. brown's shooting by white police officers sparked national protests but a grand jury and the justice department cleared the officer in that shooting. speaking of the doj releasing its report on the department, on the baltimore police department a year-long investigation found a pattern of racial discrimination that includes illegal st and arrests of african-americans. the investigation was prompted by a death of freddie gray ashgs black man fatally injured in police custody last year. they call the relationship broken. a massive wildfire burning in san bernardino mountains moved to 1 square miles. it is threatening thousands of homes. mandatory and voluntary evacuations are under way right now.

1400 firefighters are battling the fire which is only 6% contained. over to the olympics now where swimmer michael phelps picked up two more gold medals last night. first he won the 200 meter butterfly reclaiming the top spot after a stunning loss in 2012. >> less than an hour later he anchored the men's 4x200 fr freestyle relay although the u.s. was well on its way to victory by the time he got into the pool, the 31-year-old phelps has now won three golds at rio, 21 golds so far in his lifetime. and fellow american swimmer katie ledecky picked up her second gold in rio on her way to what could be a historic run for her. she held on to win the 200 meter freestyle. that actually is normally her weakest event. she crushed the world record in the 400 on sunday. the u.s. women's gymnastics team is also dominating. the team scored last night of just under 185 was more than 8

victory since 1960. the americans had the highest team score on every event and many are saying this is the best gymnastics team ever. >> well, we're killing it right now in rio. take a look at the medal count, the u.s. in first place with 26 including nine gold medals, china is in second place with 17. well, breaking overnight a strong earthquake felt in california. the details coming up. a man is dead after being shot while leaving a house party. this morning we have the call made by the suspected shooter. plus, infants evacuated from a nicu. the danger found forcing them to be moved to another facility.

the sunshine state can't catch a break. the radar shows storms in florida still stretching down the gulf coast. some big rain totals in the past 24 hours more than 6 inches in cross city, more than 5 inches in panamaty and nearly 2 in st. petersburg. a moderate earthquake rattlratt rattled northern california. it struck about 100 miles east of sacramento. people in the bay area say they felt the quake which is pretty two aftershocks followed. no reports of damage or injuries. the kansas water park where a young boy died last weekend re-opens this weekend but the water slide will remain closed for the rest of the season. 10-year-old caleb schwab died while coming down the ride in a three-person raft and new details are emerging about previous safety concerns and claimed the lap belts were not secure enough.

fair in tennessee. three fell out of a ferris wheel and a 6-year-old suffered a traumatic brain injury after what inspectors said was a mechanical failure. her 10-year-old sister and another 16-year-old are in stable condition. delta is expecting some more cancellations today. the airline is trying to recover from the computer outage. three days ago that grounded thousands of flights around the world. well, according to flight aware, delta has more than 100 flight cancellations today and dozens of delays and airline officials say it was caused by an equipment failure at their headquarters in atlanta then computers failed to switch over to backup power. well, facebook is now blocking the ad blockers starting today software used by annoying ads on facebook will no longer work. instead they're attempting to offer better ads rolling out new preferences to give you more control over the types of ads that pop up on your page.

neighborhood early sunday. >> i fired a warning shot and, uh, we got somebody that got hit. >> reporter: police say 39-year-old chad cameron copley fired a shotgun from inside his garage around 12:30 a.m. hitting thomas who was just passing by this mailbox on his way back to the car. >> they have firearms and we're gonna secure our neighborhood. >> reporter: now copley charged with murder. mara schiavocampo, abc news, new york. >> four new people have been diagnosed with the miami. according to the florida department of health, those four individuals likely contracted the virus through a mosquito bite. that brings a tote alf locally transmitted cases to 21. the department still believes that active transmissions of the zika virus are only taking place within a one-square-mile area. the knee neonatal intensive care unit at a washington, d.c. hospital is being disinfected after a bacteria was discovered on three infants. all babies were transferred from

two infants died in the unit rather last week but officials say that they have not discovered a link to the bacteria. to the west coast now and pacific gas and electric found guilty of obstructing an investigation into a deadly explosion six years ago. eight people died when a pipeline exploded in a san bruno, california, neighborhood. the utility also found guilty of violating pipeline safety regulations. a judge could fine pg&e as much as $3 million for the conv sentenced. now to a rescue in los angeles. a team effort to save a woman from a burning home. two officers just happened to be driving by were first responders before fire crews joined in and the door was blocked but they managed to save the woman pulling her through that window right there. look at that. the officers say they were just in the right place at the right time. known for very cheap flights but expensive penalties for

? good morning. it's wednesday, it's not pouring outside. how about that? we're in the transition to a drier pattern as we've been talking about the last couple of days. some isolated sprinkles but it's the kind of sprinkles that you step outside and you just feel a couple drops. that would be about it. we're in pretty lot of us get back to work and some back to school. look at the area of low pressure to our west. this has thinned out nicely. it's moved slowly but far enough west now where it's beginning to lose its influence in significant fashion across our area. so despite the fact we're going to have a lot of clouds and a couple of isolated sprinkles i think by the afternoon is when we'll transition to thunderstorms. we'll still get those, we're in

huge improvement from what we've been the last self days. temperatures now in the mid and upper 70s. nice and comfortable. tracking that low as it continues to head towards the west. it will be impacting the northern gulf. a lot of showers and storms but for us a southeasterly flow which will favor some late-day afternoon thunderstorms along the spine of the state here because of the sea breezes coming together. so it's going to be more of this -- nothing doing through 9:00, 10:00. then clouds thicken up. that is normal. except by the afternoon we'll see the thunderstorms building and we'll repeat as we head into thursday. same for friday as well. coverage about 50% through today and into next couple of days. temperatures recovering as a result of more sunshine. upper 70s to around 90 degrees. it will feel a little warmer than that but we won't be stuck in the low 80s though that is always a bonus but to get low
