investigators say hillary met bustos on the dating app plenty of fish. after casing the apartment investigators said she told the three men what was inside. they went back to the home forcing hillary to his knees before shooting him in the head and stealing electronics. the police report even stated two of the suspects laughed as hillary begged for his life. the family members say adam hillary was a good man, his pride and joy, his 5-year-old daughter. they are devastated by the loss. >> i with jesus. >> my brother is a hero to many people, especially to the little girl. >> reporter: police believe the four suspects could also be involved with similar robberies, that is something they are investigating this morning. as for those four they are set to be in court at 1:30 this afternoon. we'll have a crew inside, you can keep up to date on-line at abcactionnews.com. for now reporting live in polk county. rodney dunigan, abc action

today to discuss concerns about the zika virus. later this morning he will meet with pinellas and pasco county leaders. they will hold roundtables sessions at 10 doc this morning in clearwater and 12:45 in new port richey. meanwhile the city of tampa just unveiled an aggressive plan to keep zika-infected mosquitos out of our community. the question now, will it work? the city purchased 3,600 giant chemical tablets called dunks. that kill mosquito larva for to 30 days. there are nearly 4,000 abandoned properties in tampa and getting them into private property to keep rundown pools or anywhere that collects water for that matter is going to be a challenge. >> the lawyers are going to have to answer for me. maybe we'll just teach them to throw from the front yard to the backyard. >> joking aside the city says it will find a way to get high risk mosquito areas treated even if they are on private property. they are also asking for the public's help too.

spots. we're looking pretty good, hot and humid again. we'll show you the heat index in a second, astonishing for this time of morning. 86 in tampa, clearwater, 82 st. pete. water temperature 89. look at tampa now, 9:04 a.m. and feels like 97 degrees. that is just unbearable stuff. by the way, it's in the 40s and 50s if you're ad northeast. can you imagine, that is going to take so long to get here. titan doppler radar quiet now, a couple showers but they are moving in the opposite direction, moving towards the gulf. that is because of a northeast flow. that flow is going to do two things -- increase our moisture which was lacking yesterday and couldn't be much thunderstorms. and will also push the storms that do develop beginning at 4:00 towards the coast as they intensify and get a little stronger. with wind and also with some hefty downpours as well.

we'll monitor the radar and keep you abreast of that. futurecast coming up, a big update on the tropics. but first janelle on the hopefully ending tuesday commute. i like to show the sunshine skyway, it looks so pretty and the traffic is very light here on the sunshine skyway. about 9 minutes to get from toll booth to toll booth. but we still have congestion on 275, this is southbound around busch and taking a little bit of time, a little longer than usual to get into tampa. checking the average speed, still down to 28 there in the middle on 275 heading southbound. also still pretty slow on the veterans expressway, 31 the average speed there. and looks a little better but not much, 58 the average speed on i-75 heading south. 9:05. we're learning the conditions deputies say two children were living in landing a brevard county mother behind bars. deputies say this cocoa beach home was filled with trash and roaches. and investigators say the

on floors covered can dog feces and urine. they say one child was forced to sleep on the couch because trash in his room was higher than his bed. both those children are now with relatives. troopers want to know why a tampa man was riding his bike on a raised median before he was hit and killed in a crash. that 21-year-old was struck which two cars shortly before 9:00 last night at dale mabry and lambright investigatorshave not yet released his name. a picture showing an argument between the central florida bicyclist and police officer. the bicyclist says some police officers don't know the law when it comes to bicyclists. in the video the mantels him to ride his bike on the sidewalk and the cyclist tells the officer it's actually illegal. the two argue for less than a minute before the officer says

12,000 miles man. >> the officer in the video won't fist discipline but the department says it will retrain officers on bike laws. one man is hoping to keep ridesharing services in the tampa bay area. with your help. john mcman started this petition on change.org. so far collected more than 1,300 signatures. it needs to hit 1,500 to reach the tampa mayor bob buckhorn's desk. even with growing support for uber and lyft still not everyone is on board. >> i really wanted to get everyone support uber and lyft staying in tampa bay so we can keep drunk drivers off the road. more locals employed, just overall get the community excited about them being here. >> rules are rules, and everybody should follow the rules. if you have to go through this puddle i don't know why -- other companies should not go through the same puddle. >> the public transportation commission says it's not about trying to shut down uber and

like level 2 background checks and quality car inspections. the ptc has a workshop next month to discuss the proposed rule changes. meanwhile mayor buckhorn says he's on board with the ridesharing services because he wants people to have options. it seems that everyone agrees something needs to be done about the dunedin causeway but not everyone can agree on what. the county today posted a series of youtube clips showing new options. the public expensive option, a mid-level drawbridge at almost $72 million. commissioners can opt for a high level fixed bridge, the cheapest option and would avoided the traffic backups when a drawbridge opens and closes. the county hopes the federal government will cover 80% of construction costs. still ahead -- the suspect -- >> this wasn't one shot, somebody falls down and it's

new this morning, two dogs are recovering after getting stung by more than 400 bees. the dogs named lady and tramp were let out in their backyard over the weekend when they wound up in a neighbor's yard with a huge beehive. one aggravated the bees and that is when hundreds swarmed. lady was stung 50 times, tramp stung more than 400 times. the vets said the dogs had more venom in them to kill 50% dogs their size. this may be the nation's most loved mayor. and just won re-election. meet "duke." the actual mayor of the small town in minnesota. the 9-year-old pyrenees was first elected to mayor three years ago with the write in vote. looks like the town's residents are pretty please pleased. he had no challengers during the election over the weekend and duke will be up for re- election again next year as

that is the range for showers and storms as it begins to develop. we'll get hefty downpours i think with frequent lightning, even gusty winds. we'll watch for that closely. back in our typical pattern, 40% coverage today and then changes the next few days. we'll talk about that and check in on the tropics again in a few minutes. it's 9:31. four people accused of killing a young father they found on a dating web site are going to be heading to court today. auburndale police arrested all four in the murder of 27-year- old adam they say he met 18-year-old haley bustos on the dating web site plenty of fish. after the first date bustos showed up at adam hillary's apartment with joshua ellington, gary gray and andre warner. police say one shot hillary in the head. investigators are now link, haley bustos to other robberies. president obama will visit water-logged baton rouge and look at the government's response so far to this historic flooding in louisiana.

president "wacky." it was due to her sustaining a concussion after faifnting in december of 2012. her personal doctor says she's in excellent excellent health. early voting locations are open through saturday in every bay area county. vetting locations will also be open sunday county. information about feeding at disney world resorts. it's important after authorities shared their final report into the death of 2-year- old lane graves, killed by an alligator in june. in the report fwc says lane was bitten in the head by a gator at the edge of the lagoon. there's an ongoing investigation into animal feeding at this spot as well as another disney property. abc action news called fwc for

they are not available to the public just yet. we do know the report says that lane did nothing to provoke the attack. that means lane is the first person to die in an unprovoked gator attack in orange county since they started to keep track in 1948. that is according to florida fish and wildlife. there's only been 400 unprovoked attacks total since that year. the report says in lane's case the alligator might not have feared people since it was in an area with bradenton police releasing these photos of a man involved in a string of wallet thefts. police say in the overnight hours of august 13th and 14th the card on 23rd avenue was -- car, rather, on 23rd avenue west was broken into and two wallets taken. the victim checked their accounts and found their debit card had been used in a home depot and quik mart. , if you recognize this man call crime stoppers. deputies are picking up on

9:42. concealed guns will be allowed on college campuses in texas even after professors made a last-minute attempt to block the new law. school starts tomorrow at the university of texas in austin. the school that largely had opposition to the law. just yesterday a judge denied three professors' lawsuit guns in classrooms could be dangerous especially while teaching politically charged topics. some teachers in fresno county, california have been coming to work arpd since the new school year got underway this week. kingsburg high school is allowing up to five staff members to have guns on campus. the school district passed that rule in april. but the guns have to be concealed and the students don't know which teachers have weapons. the idea came from the superintendent who says the school must be able to respond

go through training and evaluation. san francisco police are releasing this surveillance video in an effort to catch the man they say bit a bar tender's ring finger off. officers say july 17th, this man tried to get back into a bar after closing time. when he was not let in he tried to get in through a window, then tried to break the front door down. police say that is when the bartender had enough and confronted him. >> bartender said enough is enough. i'm going to tell him to stop his surprise the patron then turns into the suspect and starts to punch the bartender. >> officer manfredi goes on to say the two men fought for a few minutes, eventually the suspect bit the bartender's finger off. hopefully someone recognizes this man from this video. police in iraq take a vest of explosives off a 15-year-old boy.

capture. the boy claims isis fighters kidnapped him and put the vest on him. authorities say the intended target was a shia mosque in kirkuk. this is after a 12-year-old killed more than 50 people in a wedding saturday. this billboard in response to the terror group is getting a lot of attention as you can see, it says hey isis, you suck. a group of muslims but the this up on i-10 in phoenix. they say they want people know that the sign is about peace and wants people to start conversations. >> it's good to have it from actual muslims, what isis stands for is not in our religion at all. >> the billboard first pulled up in chicago and the group hopes more cities will use it in the city. firefighters in california are feverishly working to protect the historichurst

-- -- in hearst castle. the fire is threatening more than 1,000 structures in san luis obispo county. flames scorched 33,000 acres already. backfires are being set in an effort to get the wildfire under control. at this hour it's only 35% contained. ivan cabrera has florida's most accurate 7-day forecast. california is getting it. >> five years of do it. every time you get a fire things get out of control there. there's not enough soil moisture to get things under control. in the flooding in louisiana, just been all over the extremes. we're in the middle. we're in the midst of the wet season so we expect showers and thunderstorms the last couple of days, had dry air so that really didn't amount to much as far as the thunderstorms. look at that shot. unlimited visibility now with temperatures in the mid-80s and upper 80s already.

the time and i'll do that once again but this is in the shade how it feels now. 88 in plant city. 86 tampa. once you factor in the humidity it feels like this, north of 100 degrees at this early hour in plant city. approaching that in tampa and even st. pete there at 90 degrees, sarasota 95. nothing wet out there yet as far as showers and thunderstorms, we'll have to wait to get the heating continuing and then the sea breezes going, th higher which we didn't have the last couple of days, so all the ingredients come together for showers and storms. the steering currents are taking the storms to the coast. that is how things will shape up, not just for today but i think the next few days and rain chances around 40% to 50%. update on the tropics here, of course we have the wave we're watching, this could be hermine in the next couple of days. hurricane hunter aircraft in fact have already -- on their way now.
