pasco county a bullet struck a sleeping baby in port richey. i'm deiah riley. >> i'm dan shaffer. thank you for joining us on this monday. that shooting happened in the 67300 block of westcott in port richey. deputies say someone fired several rounds into the home 11:30 last night. one round went into a bedroom where the 1-year-old girl was sleeping. a bullet hit her in the wrist. she's in the doctors believe that wound was not life threatening. to a traffic alert, a major construction project gets underway near amalie arena. the road improvement project could impact your commute for the next year. crews started prepping the area on friday. the entire intersection of channelside drive and morgan street could be blocked off. this $35 million project will turn channelside drive into a two-way road. the roads will also be more like a grid, should be easier for drivers.

no issues with the bus stop forecast as far as wet roads or rain, but by afternoon, 3:00, numerous showers and thunderstorms developing with temperatures in the upper 80s. more on the storm coverage and of course the increasing rain chances the neck few days coming up. pinellas county opened up three sandbag sites yesterday. the city of gulfport has one as well. st. pete will open two more this morning. with predictions of heavy rainfall for several days many picking up sandbags this weekend. if your area regularly floods it's a good idea to head out and pick up sandbags soon before the heavier rounds of rain hit later this week. we have a full list of locations on abcactionnews.com and our facebook page. we could learn more about the death of a tampa police officer, fred arnold iii died while scuba diving in nevada.

4:43. investigators say a man driving a bus full of people driving to help people in louisiana with the floods was in the coun illegally and it crashed into two people. a fire chief was killed along with a passenger in a car that was hit by the bus. dozens of people were taken to the hospital. this crash is still under investigation. authorities plan to charge the bus driver with negligent homicide and also reckless driving. the owner of the bus company could also face charges. two brothers are in a chicago jail charged with killing a mother pushing a stroller. the victim was the cousin of bulls star dwyane wade. the two suspects are seen here

>> reporter: the 49ers coach chip kelly says 28-year-old will face no repercussions. a teacher in the atlanta area is facing disciplinary action after making fifth grade students play a slavery game in her class. the teacher says he was trying to engage her students in the study of slavery and the underground railroad. the point of the dice game, for the grandmother of the only african-american student in the class is upset. she says the game was demeaning and hurtful to her 10-year-old granddaughter. >> one thing that really got her was the move that she had to make was when she met a stranger. and that stranger turned out to be a bad guy and they told her to go back into slavery where she would be beaten.

drive last night. one of the bullets went through the front bedroom where the baby was sleeping. the bullet hit the little girl in her wrist. she's in the hospital now. her wound is not life threatening. we have calls into the sheriff's office, we're trying to find out more information on who might have been involved and also what led up to the shooting. abc action news anchor james tully is on scene, working to get new information. we'll go live to him in about 30 minutes. more breaking news from belgium where we're learning reports of an explosion overnight in brussels are likely false. officials investigating the incident at the criminology institute telling us it's more likely an arson attack on a crime lab. the investigators think it was probably a criminal act, not a terrorist attack. right now there's no confirmation of any bomb. the original reports said a car drove through a barrier about eight hours ago followed by an explosion and damage to the building. no one was hurt. back here in the states a scare at the los angeles international airport after reports of a shooter. this morning police say they found no gunman or any shots
