-- following a developing story from pasco county. a 1-year-old girl is in the hospital now, after she was shot in a drive-by shooting in port richey. good morning, i'm deiah riley. >> i'm dan shaffer. deputies now telling us they do not think this was a random act of violence. abc action news reporter james tully is live in port richey. what have we learned about the child's mother that has police thinking this house was targeted? >> reporter: dan, the sheriff's office telling mother is a documented gang member and that is why they believe this home was targeted but what makes this look even more ruthless is what on the home was targeted. this window here, we counted at least 15 bullet holes and we understand that window leads into this little girl's bedroom. this 1-year-old's room. she was hit by one of the bullets in her wrist. in the hospital this morning recovering. injuries not expected to be life threatening. we do have video this morning, home surveillance video taken from across the street to show

are looking at now. it shows the moments leading up to the shooting. you can see a car stop in front of this home. back up, then turn off the lights at which time we believe they fired shots into the window. in the daylight, you see where deputies marked off more than a dozen bullet holes. there's a closer look here. they woke up to -- neighbors woke up to police tape and active investigation. the ones we talked to weren't happy about it. >> they do but still, it -- they could have had the wrong house. i live across the street. that could have been my window. >> reporter: that woman just talking to us after she walked her own son to the bus stop this morning. from that video, surveillance video it's difficult to get a vehicle description. we couldn't. we understand deputies having a hard time with it as well. also they have not named any suspects at this time. but that little girl as i mentioned expected to survive

live in pasco county, james tully, abc action news. also in pasco county, deputies found and 87-year-old man with alzheimer's dead in a wesley chapel pond this morning. they say it appears that walter herman drowned. deputies got a call 3:00 this morning that he was missing, they found his body an hour later. he recently moved from georgia and complained of wanting to go home. detectives don't suspect foul play are investigating after a woman in a wheelchair was hit and killed by a tow truck. we showed you the scene live earlier this morning, that crashed happened at 5th avenue north and 34th street. police haven't identified the woman killed. we'll keep you posted with new information as it comes in. new information now from overseas. officials in belgium say reports of a woman going off at a crime -- a bomb going off at a crime lab there are false. officials say it's more likely an arson attack not related to terrorism. original reports claimed the

and explosion followed. no one was hurt in this. belgium has been on high alert since quoshed iniad suicide -- coordinated suicide bomb attacks in march and a subway attack killed two people. a scare at the l.a.x., los angeles airport. folks ran for cover after they thought they heard shots fired. a man was arrested or taken into custody at least for a short time for wearing a costume. he's now speaking out for the first time about the confusion. >> i get police all around me, telling me to put the hands up. i'm not even thinking about what is going on, right? it was what i was wearing. >> police released him calling it a misunderstanding. they are now trying to figure out what the sound was, police say it was not gunshots. we told you about a similar false alarm two weeks ago at

olympic win. getting your monday started here, warm and humid. no changes from what we had the last couple of days. even the thunderstorm activity today, timing will be similar to what we've had. 92 what it feels like in plant city, upper 80s to lower 90s. it will hit lower 90s as far as the air temperature by the time we get to 1:00, 2:00. it will be then we see storms firing and continue to push east-to-west. so between 3:00 and 7:00 we're still game for tropical downpours and tric of course it will be headed our way in earnest tomorrow as we see the bands beginning to set up. that is our tropical depression, 35 mile-per-hour winds from the latest from the national hurricane center. this will continue to turn north, intensify to a tropical storm tonight and then bring us all that weather through the next several days as far as the heavy rainfall. we'll talk more about that and what we think as far as accumulations and flood potential in a few minutes. first the traffic center.

things are moving smoothly. but we still have this significant backup through southern hillsborough county northbound i-75 at big bend road. still slow going through here. look at big bend road, pretty slow between 41 and 301. looks like we're starting to see a little improvement here but if you can make your way to 301 or 41 that is going to get you there a lot quick irbecause 75 still backed up at least a mile. we have a crash we're following southbound u.s. 19 at curlew road, hoping to have this mo there in the southbound lanes. opening up our cameras, a little slow i-4 heading into downtown tampa. you can see the cars here heading towards downtown tampa. the cars heading eastbound seem to be moving along just fine now. quick check of the average speeds here, it looks like i-4 from 75 to 275 is going to be our slowest spot, 40 the average speed there. back to you. this morning the tampa police department is mourning the loss of one of their own.

arnold iii died in an off-duty scuba diving accident in nevada over the weekend. avenues 27-year veteran of the force. he was an outstanding officer who mentored hundreds of at risk youth through the police explorer program. arnold was even featured in a show called "rookies." we're awaiting word on funeral arrangements. martin county deputies say a teen was high on drugs when he jumped through the front window of a home and attacked the family insi that home near stuart early sunday morning. when the family inside was startled awake by a loud noise. >> deputies arrived and say the 19-year-old was being held down by the homeowner's adult son. the intruder apparently displayed extreme strength and high tolerance for pain. the homeowner and son even struggled to control him. >> luckily we had a strong man that was able to hold him down. it could have been a lot worse

>> the homeowner had to get stitches but will be ok. the teen is in critical but stable condition. a friend of the teen told deputies he took drugs including amphetamines and whatly sin again. hallucinogen. two kids hungry while the mom partied six hours. the mom fit with an ankle bracelet. we're looking at claudia acosta, facing multiple charges after deputies say the tradewinds resort in st. pete over the weekend. police became aware of the situation after they say the kids were found wandering the resort looking for food. at the same time deputies say she crashed a private party and began to threaten staff at the bar. she faces two negligent charges and disorganize conduct. neglect charges i should say.

headslights go out and that is when shots are fired. at least a dozen bullets hit the home. one went through the front bedroom window where the baby girl was sleeping. a bullet hit her in the wrist. she's in the hospital now, her injury though is not life threatening. also the sheriff's office says it's hoping witnesses and this new surveillance video will lead to an arrest. if you have any information about what happened call the pasco county sheriff's office. hundreds of people are expected to pay respects to one of the bay area's most beloved and respected catholic today and tomorrow. monsignor lawrence higgins died last wednesday. a public visitation will be held from noon to 9:00 today and tomorrow. at st. lawrence catholic church. the parish he founded. his life will be celebrated during a funeral mass wednesday at 11:00 at the church. if you plan on going to the funeral you're asked to park at al lopez park and take a free shuttle down the street to the church. we turn to tragic news we've been following in new

over the weekend to celebrate the life of a little girl brutally murdered before her 10th birthday. a birthday party and memorial service to honor victoria martin. they say she was drugged, raped and strangled by her mother's boyfriend while her mother watched. she was found wrapped in a burning blanket in bathtub last wednesday. friends showed up to honor her. it was amazing, great so many people come together when there's so much bad going on in the world that there is good people out here. and that we're here to celebrate victoria and her life. >> martin's mother, mother's boyfriend and third woman have all been arrested and charged with kidnapping and child abuse resulting in death. the one orlando fund has now raised $23 million and counting to the pulse nightclub shooting victims but experts

negligent homicide. meanwhile scary moments for passengers on board the famous boston duck boat tours. parts of the roof on one of the water-to-land vehicles ripped off yesterday when it went under a drawbridge. this video shows the roof of the duck boat lying in the street. the company says no one was hurt. it comes in the midst of a push for additional regulations on tours after 28-year-old woman was hit and killed this past april by a duck tour vehicle. a pair of air scarce to tell you about, rattling travelers two united airlines pilots accused of being too drunk to fly were arrested in scotland just before takeoff. >> investigators now searching for clues in an emergency landing in florida. after a southwest flight's engine fails mid-flight. that flight was traveling from new orleans to orlando saturday morning when all of a sudden that plane started to fill with smoke and dropping in altitude quickly. the airline officials confirm there was a mechanical issue with the number one engine. the pilot was able to land safely in pensacola.

rubble. at this point they don't have any hope of finding more survivors. now authorities are considering if negligence or fraud in adhering to building codes and construction may have added to the destruction. entire towns were leveled by the quake last week. following a developing story in kentucky where an 8- year-old boy was fatally shot by his younger brother. authorities calling this a tragic accident, say no charges will be filed. that boy old blake last month. investigators say both boys were playing with the gun and didn't know it was loaded. blake was rushed to a hospital where he was pronounced dead. homeland security officials are investigating an outage that knocked out the 911 system in washington, dc. equipment failure in the system caused the outage for with 90 minutes starting late saturday night. officials ruling out a hack or malicious activity. they don't even know how many

of thunderstorm activity. look to the west, you can bare he see under the clouds, indication of a flare-up as this continues to head north. again what we're thinking over the next few days, is that this will be a tropical storm and mainly a big rain threat for our area here. things can change, so keep checking with us but right now the official forecast and we agree at the weather center, 50 mile-per-hour to 60 mile-per- hour winds. that time frame is thursday but ahead of it as is the usual case with opposed to hurricanes, things really are quite broad. so we get these rain shields that are going to be coming in, beginning tomorrow. continuing through wednesday and into thursday and to friday so that is why we have the quern here for flooding. it's going to be a prolonged event. already raining buckets in cuba and there you see that flow coming from the southeast. we'll get into the rain bands beginning tomorrow. watch as we put this in motion and you can see the center of circulation well off-shore but

no way. i wouldn't pay that for something -- i don't care if it keeps it cold a week, no. >> reporter: stores know the price is high for many family buckets so they are rolling out -- budgets so they are rolling out competitors. >> walmart has one. >> reporter: that's right. the look-alike oh zark trail cup is $9. it's all over youtube comparisons. >> they are the same exengses and the lids are interchangeable. >> reporter: we decided to do our own test. about the $9 look-alike, ozark trail and another $9 cup, the subzero. i packed each one with ice, sealed them tight. after 12 hours i measured how much ice melted the yetti and ozark lost the same amount of water. two ounces. subzero lost one and-a-half ounces but since the subzero was 30% smaller than the other to it actually saw more ice

again. yetti and ozark again lost identical amounts. and subzero, a slightly bigger percentage. finally all the ice melted except for one teeny piece of ice in the ozark trail cup. so in the end it's a tie. one caution, yetti recently filed a lawsuit against walmart and another brand called mammoth coolers, asking walmart to stop selling look-alike tummlers, for now they are still availae >> wow. >> eye-opening. 9:53. for years people have said weekends are too short, the workweek is too long. now on-line retailer amazon is changing that. >> it's testing out a 30-hour workweek say it's designed for women. a team of workers including managers will try to work a 30- hour workweek. monday through thursday from 10:00 to 2:00. part time workers will get the same benefits as full time
