lewd pictures of himself on twitter, his wife, the top clinton aide huma abedin, stood by him. tonight, however, abedin has apparently reached her limit. will this latest tabloid story have political implications for her boss? here's abc's david wright. >> reporter: she is the woman behind the nation's most powerful woman. hillary clinton's closest aide huma abedin, seen here leaving a campaign fund-raiser in the hamptons last night. just as the breaking the latest scandal about her husband, anthony weiner, allegedly caught sexting again. this time with his son right there asleep in the bed with him. for wiener, this was the third strike. tonight their marriage is over. after long and painful consideration and work on my marriage, i've made the decision to separate from my husband, abedin said in a statement. >> really? we're talking about anthony

when i'm talking to a family to identify their loved ones, it's like i'm unzipping that bag, looking at her. >> reporter: at chicago pd they're fighting crime with 27,000 security cameras and sophisticated microphones deployed by shot spotter, a california company supplying audio sensors in 90 u.s. cities. we met the superintendent in late june. frustration was building. >> chicago's a city of 2.6 million people. so out of that 2.6 million, are really driving most of our gun violence in the city. essentially since january 1st, chicago police department has recovered one illegal gun per hour this year. >> that is hundreds? >> 4,000. >> 4,000? >> roughly 4,000. >> reporter: less than two months later, according to the chicago pd, the number is now a staggering 6,000 guns. >> we recover more guns than l.a. and new york combined. >> reporter: chicago police are trying a new approach. by focusing their efforts on

offenses and gang relations. their names compiled on a list. chicago's strategic subject list. >> we say, hey, you want to change your lifestyle, we're willing to help you. but if they don't choose to change their lifestyle, we'll come after them with everything. the sad tragedy of it is a lot of them become victims of gun violence. >> reporter: the men arrested for wade's death were on that list. the death of wade's cousin ironic. he's now returning to his hometown to play for the chicago bulls. wanting to use his celebrity to bring chan enormous challenge that he and chicago now face. >> this reprehensible act of violence is the example of why we need to change the way we treat habitual offenders in the city of chicago. when will enough be enough? >> reporter: enough? this is a city where a 9-year-old boy was shot to death by gang baners as retribution. >> put the guns down, please. this is my only baby.
