if you are out there, the air is traveling toward you and the other is going away. well, that's what we are showing on radar. and we caught this five or 10 minutes ago. this has moved in just to the east north of cheval and it is moving to the northeast. we continue to get information and we showed you the bigger picture. we can look at the other areas and there is a lot of spin and the gulf of mexico. of several tornadoes. whether they are strong enough for the weather service to issue a warning, it depends on the individual cell. but clearly, the one that we are watching right now just north of that area was warned and you see the box there. but red box is the path in which the national weather service issues that tornado warning. so, along the suncoast, north
5:31 pm
drexel, fortunately, this is an area that is somewhat rural. up towards sundance, and eventually, it extends north into greenfield. and, that entire area is up to that tornado warning until 6 pm makes a lot of sense it is a 30 minutado warning as we track that area and it is all moving north at about 30 or 35 miles an hour. and this was even faster. and imagine, this is moving almost as fast as you would be driving so, north at 45 miles per hour, there's the suncoast. and here is the thing, this esn't necessarily mean that it is on the ground. this is a doppler signature. in other words, when the
5:32 pm
it doesn't mean it's going all the way down to the ground. if you have those long track tornadoes you have this debris ball that will show up, and you will actually know if it is touching the ground. we are still g rotation, agreeing next to the red and -- the green the red and, if anything else develops you will have to assume that they are going to race from the south to the north. this is tropical patterns. we get this all the time. we can remember every tropical storm, we have had a handful at least of hurricane related tornadoes and when charlie came through i don't know. member but down in arcadia there was literally six or seven lined up one after another. so, that is what we are looking
5:33 pm
exactly what we are going to talk about in terms of the regular radar. going to move this over for u.yo anthere is the band, north to south. within this, that's what you're seeing multiple areas of spin and th o which made it down the surface at the very least, it is showing rotation. were going to zoom back into that area. and, i'm sure they will probably get it -- if we could have the cities, because usually, if you take a different look, i believe. this is from anywhere from lutes, it was originated near the show was near land o lakes. and, through garden road. and shady hill, and cheval. so again, the same area that we
5:34 pm
around that that will get ttent as it moves into northern hill, and you see wesley chapel you're in an area that is a little bit less traveled you have 52 there, so clearly you're looking at it but it's a little harder to even see -- in fact let's take the watch box off and i will show you, at this point in time it makes it easier to see that rotation. and it looks to me like we are a little weaker. and it definitely appears to be weakening. and that would not be surprising if with in a few minutes that warning expires. officially, we have a tornado warning in effect as we set for northern sections of pascoe county, and as this goes through. it does appear to weakening. the first of several as i'm concerned because, we are looking at a pretty significant band.
5:35 pm
there is a band. the outward perimeter of hurricane hermine. it will continue to keep our eyes on this and watch how this develops over the next couple of hours. we will get this are about 6:45 pm 7 pm and, you will get a break. and another one will come through and it will be 8 pm and 9 pm. then, it looks like it will start to see and upper break. but the wind will continue. you do not have to have strong you're going to get the wind regardless. and, at this point in time, you will continue to see this until the middle evening hours. and, i think we will finally look for a little bit of a break towards midnight. so, if you're just tuning in, a remains in effect until 6 pm. and it should thus it could
5:36 pm
it doesn't appear to have see the little ation. markers right there. and, that is even gone. and, this does not include manatee sarasota and past hernando's -- past hernando. that's the 11 pm. it will continue to see those tropical storm warnings in effect and alice and hillsborough county. and, we're talking about winds on average of 30 to 40 miles per hour. and, severe thunderstorm warnings in our neck of the woods go 60 miles per hour. so, this is nothing to fret over along the coast. it's a nasty night, a lot of rain. and coastal flooding will be an issue.
5:37 pm
the heaviest rain and heaviest rain by far will be up in the big bend area and into the panhandle. and this will continue to move closer to the panhandle it does pick up. you have to figure all of those live oak trees, those big trees in the tallahassee area down onto the coast you have them close to 80 or 8 there will be significant damage. at the favorable thing to do, is that almost all of the wind in the rghis east of the center. so as it moves off to the north and pushes a lot about rain to the east because of that wind that we have talked about. wil weather to the eastern side
5:38 pm
right along the interstate, and up through southern georgia as well. that's our forecast and clearly, the winds will continue to be an issue immediately. but i want to go back, we can call that radar backup. and i think that we are looking at -- the warnings are still in effect and, at this point in time you can probably toss it back because this will go on until 6 pm. in my opinion, the threat is winding down down to near zero. but there are many more that can develop over the next several hours. so there it is. that is a look at the live radar. and if we pop in that area from the velocity. which is often the wind, it's showing you what we're talking about. that is what we will continue to watch. the tornado warning remains in effect for another 20 minutes. i suspect that that will cancel
5:39 pm
if anything changes we will have that here. thank you. as you continue to track that we are going to move north where the hurricane is expected to make landfall in a few hours. >> as you just heard him talking, rain and when will be a major problem -- wind will be a major problem. this is about 45 minutes south tallahassee. how's it looking? to be rough. we are basically in the line of fire. a lot of little towns all along the big bend area. that's south of tallahassee, and when high tide came in, the golf overtook the beach. and look at that. that gazebo is underwater. people are evacuating the area. it has been nasty. the wind has been picking up. and the rain has been
5:40 pm
and, the street here, it is getting ready to flight as well. anthe people who live here are getting out even one of the channels here basically about to overflow. we got an up close look at what the storm surge is doing. and, breaking up into the gulf. and and, the power was turned off to this island a few hours ago. people are evacuating about 30 miles away in tallahassee. and they haven't been directly hit by hurricane since 1985 they are prepared. the state campus is closed and people here know that they need to get out. this is not a safe place to be. anours you will want to move out. we are getting closer to tallahassee.

clifton french is life. what's been happening there? >> yes, in the last 30 minutes it has been on and operating. but, you know what you can see when bands are coming in by on the coast. quite a bit it continues to receded but when more rain comes in obviously a little bit more water. football me not only did it come up over this boardwalk but going to keep walking this water was as high as this a grassy june right over here. but i'm going to show you some video if we can go to that really quick. the water rose rapidly earlier
5:45 pm
people were keeping a close eye on the storm surge. people are used to flooding but the storm is making them very nervous. there was a guy that we talked to earlier is hoping that this next high tide doesn't ruin his home his boat was nearly in his road -- yard. and his stock nearly broke off -- dock nearly broke off. and people are keeping their eyes on the tide the wind that is -- and obviously, the wind that is picking up. thank you. happy right now, st. petersburg is dealing with flooded streets. and that's keeping people away from their homes. and adam is joining us live from there right t now.
5:46 pm
-- >> it seems that we lost that live shot. >> wherever he was, he was at that area and it was crazy to watch people trying to drive to that water that they can't -- through the water that they can't see through the bottom up. >> you wonder what they are thinking, but i guess they aren't. and, minutes later after dropped out and, they did drop the tornado warning. there is still a lot of spin out there, and look at that picture. this should be a webcam for somebody across the world. i mean, that is a great shot. you have got the surf coming in, the wind blowing, and we are not seeing palm trees bent over sideways because they will not have that kind of weather. we will have a ton of surf, and that's going to be an issue
5:47 pm
to have another high tide before the out of here. it won't be as high as this last one. and, still looking at that tornado watch until 11 pm but that warning that was in effect they canceled it. the weather service did, because no longer producing a tornado. but if you live along the coast, or anywhere you are about to get hammered and see extremely strict -- heavy rain. and, about 15 hernando county. anrahtn wno sarasota that is a classic band from a hurricane. and then, you will get a break. there is nothing there. right? so after 20 or 30 minute stretch then, you will see dry conditions. and then, another area of rain an hour later. and then, that's about it.
5:48 pm
to pull away. we are going to see some rain and the wind will continue. we will say it again, we're talking about a hurricane, we will not get hurricane winds here. winds sustained maybe 35 to 40. and maybe a bit higher in some places. so the tornado watches something we will have to watch until 11 pm. and there could be winds 45 miles per hour an not be the issue. the problem is, we have had so much rain and especially if those trees are dead. you may see a gust of wind. the ground is so soft after all the rain that we have had. so there it is, 988, that's the lowest it has been. it is strengthening, it is
5:49 pm
in fact, if you look at this, this is what i was talking about. these are sustained winds not gusts. and the sustained wind last hour is 35 miles per hour. and if you go east, it's not the issue. we will still get the rain, but you will not get nearly the rain -- wind that you have had. so, over the next several hours, it's going to be windy, blustery, rainy, flooding and in fact, this band coming through afraid to say if you live there, you are going to see flooding. that's just because there's no place for the water to go. after up to 16 inches of rain yesterday it takes a lot for that water to drain. and, with all of the rain coming down and are reporting stations are showing the rain. this is the next issue.
5:50 pm
north to south, and with this, that will dump probably an inch or two of rain in many sts. -- spots. and if you don't see a lot of lightning. there is a good reason. we will talk about that tonight. and we will give you updates as we have been. you can bring your questions follow us on facebook and if you have anything specific you need to know about your plans, you will have those answers. and this evening, 8 pm, another band comes through. but i tomorrow morning the things -- things begin to wind down. and then, through the afternoon still residual moisture that links right up to that center. and, this is probably the last moister plume that we will have to deal with as it comes through. so tomorrow will not be a nice day. but i think it will be better than it was today.
5:51 pm
sudden some folks have a five day weekend. no school today, no school tomorrow and no school on monday. i think things will be better and back to normal by saturday and sunday. and, in terms of wind, by 10 pm, look at the coas.stacked up with winds. and nowhere near hurricanes not even tropical storm force. these will how all night long. by tomorrow morning looking at gusty winds, but notice that it cown south. the lows are pulling away in taking the heaviest went along with it and by 6 pm 7 pm, it continues to move north and i think tomorrow will be significantly better. but there will be some areas with trees down. and that will continue.
5:52 pm

force wind out of it, and those force winds. but those are sustained winds. that means over a period of time per hour over a period of time where it will actually stt speed ssf you live in pinellas county, you're in pinellas county getting crushed by now you're getting crushed by thiser, y in and this is moving east. is moving east. so, just moving into the pasco right so, just moving into pascoe, they will be moving into hillsboro after the bay hillsborough county after crossing the bay in minutes. minutes or and this this around hermine. that bond moves through, and -- hermine. he will get a break and a break, another one will come. and as long as comes through, and situation this one will be quite we're in this situation, i doubt the next one will be as -- won't be quite as strong but will pack a punch. the tornado watches in effect strong, but it will still pack a punch. tornado watch still have little doubt that we will probably see spin ups with that band coming through. with the band coming through now. a tornado watch the tornado watch remains in effect until 11 the tornado watch remains in effect until 11 am. -- 11 pm. 11:00. tropical storm warnings, this is right we are seeing the wind between 30 and 45 miles
