on running or biking along the courtney campbell causeway trail. these are pictures we got from the city. debris still scattered along the trail. crews are hoping to have it back open at the latest tomorrow afternoon. down in sarasota county, still more than two dozen streets look like this, almost like a river. this picture from north port. partly from hermine and some of the storms we got last night. some areas to five inches of rain. can you believe the power was still off for some people in tampa bay until just a few hours ago? our nicole grigg that you see here is puttfiin touches on that story. look for that about 30 minutes. about 18,000 homes and businesses still without power right now, mostly in northern florida. on friday, that number was 325,000 people across the state without power. so a big dent being made on getting the lights back on.

right now, the hospital in hudson that shut down last wednesday during the heavy downpours is finally back open. up and running about nine hours now. no new issues to report. today some 2 pients were moved hospital. the staff says that a lightning strike srted the fire that ultimaly hit a generator which is why they had to shut it down for so long. they had to pass the inspection before they could back in. it has been a while since we have been able to do this. dry today and drier days are ahead. >> you know what, it was a little cooler this morning. >> you noticed it. >> shay. >> yes. >> shay, it was a little cooler. >> i'm so glad you noticed it. i was hoping that somebody would be up early enough to notice that drier air settling in this morning and the comfortable conditions we had as a result of it. there are plenty of people back

hampton, new york. the tropical storm warning dropped in the last few hours. hermine is not done yet. the surf is still high there and the conditions to the parts of the northeast are still pretty bad at this time. speaking of though, on the other coast, hurricane newton making landfall today near cabo san lucas. on the left you see the winds, the rain and flooding it brought. the radar as it is right. the storm is expected to still be a tropical storm when it makes its second landfall on the northeast coast of the mainland early tomorrow. it's also expected to make its way the u.s., hitting arizona. let's take a live look at phoenix w.ri it looks pretty dece. a clear. but they're under a flash flood watch in anticipation of newton, which will bring a lot of wind and rain to the area tomorrow.

and still on the east coast, the northeast, you can see all of the way from the mid- atlantic states through new rk and then f tohe north, into -- into maine. we're seeing this small craft advisory in effect. so the tropical storm warnings have been lifted. but the coastal area through tomorrow morning are going to continue to see gusts up to 40 miles per hour. 6 to 11foot seas. concern. it is mainly a coastal issue. but hermine just doesn't want to get moving and get out of the area. now, we do have two other areas of interest. one just to uth of the dominican republic. it has a 10% chance of developing. it is not a threat to us. and then storms the coast of africa. this one has a strong chance of developing but it will stay out

damage hurricane heine has caused. earlier we told you that pasco county was the hardest hit with more than 1,000 homes and businesses in need of repair. a breaking update. we're staying on top of this after a chopper crash in palm bay on florida's east coast. this is a military style helicopter that went down. three people are dead. their names have not been released. witnesses saw it flying low before it went down. the cause is still unknown. it was coming from melbourne at the time. developing now, the company that makes the epipen is under investigation by the new york attorney general. it hiked the price by 400% over the last few years. >> and now we learned another company may be stepping in to provide an alternative. the now todd walker found that it could provide peace of mind

options they might have moving forward. good evening. thanks for joining us. i'm wendy ryan. >> and i'm jamison uhler. one of the largest for profit colleges abruptly closing its doors nationtoday, leaving students empty handed. >> itt woulnot allow new students to get grants, loans and other aides. adam walser talked to students at the tampa campus who feel helpless. >> reporter: this is nt out to students at 7:30 ails this morning saying that itt would be closing for good. we have seen dozens of students coming to the campus throughout the day looking for answers. so far they aren't getting many. >> i printed it on the 15th of august. >> reporter: dominique jones was supposed to continue her nursing education at itt starting next week.

>> medical terminology and strategy. >> reporter: she and nearly 40,000 other itt students nationwide got an e-mail from the school this morning, letting them know that all of the campuses would be closing for good. >> we have made the very difficult decision to discontinue our operations effective immediately. >> you're on your way to your goals and career and you wake up and you're like the school is closed down. now what do you do? >> reporter: the closure came after the u.s. department of education cut off aid for new requirements for the school, citing prlewith the school's accreditation. tampa attorney jessie hoyer has filed lawsuits against several for profit colleges. >> if they were operating a viable legitimate business, they would be able to get financial funding from other sources. >> actually it doesn't surprise me. mystenhere this campus in tampa. and we had numerous issues. >> reporter: >> reporter: the e-mail
