terminated his employment. >> a jewelry store thief is on the run after seriously injuring an employee who tried to stop him inside of the brandon town center mall. the thief got away with a necklace and bracelet totaling more than $23,000. on surveillance video you see right here, the employee runs after taking that necklace. the worker, the employee, runs after him. the employee jumped onto the hood of the get away car but fell off as it sped off. >> it's really important that we catch this guy obviously from the nature of his actions, you know, he very easily could have killed this poor victim. >> deputies need your help to identify the suspected burglar. they are looking for a silver camaro. another burglary case this morning, this one involving two furniture businesses in tampa.

store called oh, whatever on manhattan avenue south. they say he pried 0p a side door -- pried open a side door shortly after midnight and stole checks. he tried to break into summer house furniture but couldn't get inside. if you recognize this guy, call crimestoppers. they are offering a $3,000 reward for tips leading to his arrest. today, the tampa city council will review plans for a drug and alco people living in the community say they don't want the rehab center there. a recently closed rehab center, neighbors say, police were constantly called as it caused nothing but problems. >> we saw everything from drug use to public intoxication. >> the day they moved in they were asking for money on our front doorstep. >> reporter: so far, the city council turned down the special zoning needed for the rehab facility. administrative approval was

a former secret service officer accused of trying to solicit sex from someone he thought was 14 years old. he's now facing more serious charges here in florida. robert lee moore is set to appear in court in west palm beach. he was first arrested in delaware where the girl turned out to be an undercover agent. now they have filed federal charges against hi the jury indicted him in june for producing child porn. if you saw this truck weaving across the lines, would you call 911? one woman in the panhandle did. she wants to know why police never responded. that woman followed that 18 wheeler for more than an hour on florida highways. she recorded video on her cell phone. thee she called police several times giving them updates on where he was from 85 to i-10.

call police to let them know they are supposed to come and investigate. i did that. nobody came. isn't that what my tax dollars are supposed to be for? >> highway patrol says they don't have enough troopers to respond to all callsp. list ton this story. palm beach police say this man ran his 72 foot yaht aground and simply walked away. when officers caught up with thomas baker, he admitted to having just a few too many island iced teas. his yaht, the time out, is still stuck offshore. thomas baker will be taking a time out himself. he has been arrested for boating under the influence. three tampa police department k-9 officers will be safer on the streets today thanks to a generous donation. they all have bulletproof and stab-proof vests.

who set blankets on fire on board a jetblue flight. investigators say she boarded a jetblue flight from jfk headed to puerto rico. during the flight, she used a lighter to ignite two blankets and a seat next to hers. thankfully no one was hurt. she was litter arrested and placed in fbi custody. if convicted, she faces up to 25 years in prison. women interested in becoming marijua sellers should be in a networking event. the organizers say it is the biggest cannabis networking group in florida. meanwhile, marijuana that use is on the rise among college age people. 38% of college students tried marijuana that in the past year. that's up 8% from a decade ago. more troubling, daily use of

prosecutors just dropped all charges against a man caught on camera beating a man to death after that man tried to rape his wife. even the dead man's family spoke in support of 61-year-old mamadou diallo. they said he should not be punished for protecting his wife and both families have su down to assault and finally no charges at paul. >> i'm happy for the decision. >> diallo thanked the people who showed up in court every day to support him. fellas, listen up, if you are mad at your wife, please never do this. in kansas city, a man says he robbed a bank to get away from his wife. lawrence whipple walked into a

had a gun and demanded cash. get this, the teller turned over more than $2,000. he tooked the money, walked out to the lobby and sat down. he told the guard he was the robber. according to court documents, he told investigators he and his wife had been fighting earlier that day and he wrote the robbery neat right in front -- note right in front of her and told her that he would rather be in jail than at home. the the judge let him out on bond. so now not only does he face the charges, he's got to face his wife. >> clearly -- [ all talking at once ] >> in two weeks, i'll be one year into marriage. things haven't gotten that bad yet. >> don't rob a bank. >> he needs more than counseling, doesn't he?

if you under citrus county, look at brooksville. 67 up in crystal river. we've begun to see changes here. that's not a cold front. that's just dry air allowing the temperatures to fall back more. you widen out the shot and it hasn't been that much with streaming showers from east to west. they are fast moving and much more of the that will be dividing the showers and storms once again. so it's just south of i-4, more moisture to work with here. so the north of that, we're locked in with the dry air and it has not rained. the rest of the southeast adds well. so for us -- as well. so for us, right allock the southern polk county border,

thursday morning. a kidnapping victim called for help shortly before her death. sadly, they later found her body in the trunk of her own car. 37-year-old rita mays was at a rest stop when somebody hit her in the head and forced her into the trunk of her pontiac grand prix. she had her cell phone, called her husband and law enforcement. they tracked her signal to a trucking company parking lot in spokane. by the time they arrived, though, she had already been killed. stop what you are doing and a jewelry store owner in australia was trying to protect his employees when he confronted a pair of armed robbers. the guy drove a chair at the thieves as they get away. the armed men were carrying a gun and sledgehammer. he tried to get inside. he was hoping to distract the robbers. they pointed that gun right at them. thankfully he wasn't hurt. the thieves managed to grab
