beginning to develop. by 7:00, that will be the window for thunderstorm activity. coverage is about 30%. similar forecast for the weekend. we'll time that out for you. first, bill logan is here with a check on traffic. >> yep, we've got traffic for enthusiasm morning. things are look going so far. we are clear coming across the howard frankland bridge. this is highway 60 coming off the bridge. this is the other side of downtown heading in toward the interchange. there are no problems. we this is ongoing. scott street from seventh avenue over to orange. that's been closed for a while and wide open on the veterans expressway this morning. no delays getting in from van dyke all the way down to 275. looks like you have about a 13- minute trip. average speed at 61 miles per hour. as you look at those toll roads around the region, everyone is up to speed.

a crossing guard is a hero for standing her ground to protect young children in the intersection. the video is jaw dropping. lindsay logue has more on the video. >> reporter: it is incredibly shocking to watch. the intersection is just feet students were headed for the day thursday. then this happened. a young girl pulled out her cell phone and hit record. you can see the driver of the tan vehicle is leaving the school repeatedly bumps miller and ignores her orders to not turn left out of the school. miller wasn't injured but the driver did eventually get past her. >> then the car backed up,

look at this, rainfall now. this is pretty much what we've had. anywhere from a quarter to half an inch in four days this time of year. we can multiply that ten fold to a typical afternoon. for today, we'll get rain chances back to the south and for all of us here. so plan accordingly as we get a little rain back here between 4:00 to 7:00. it will be warm and temps in the 90s this afternoon. it will feel about 100-plus with the humidity out there. pretty similar set. no big changes. afternoon showers and storms and morning sunshine. that's the way it will shape up as we head through today. like yesterday, we had a lot more green setting up for the afternoon, farther north and the thunderstorms as well. i must say this is the kind of forecast that's a bit of a snoozer in the weather center
