before flames erupted. >> the mosque caught fire minutes after the anniversary of the 9/11 attacks. the gunman behind the pulse nightclub shooting went to the mosque at least two times prior. one neighbor says she's seen a rise in hatred against that mosque since june. >> they are driving by honking, cussing, it's ridiculous. it's ignorance, what it is. >> investigators are now looking into the possibility that the fire was a hate crime. the st. lucie county sheriff's offi investigate. we're making calls to find out what started a fire at bella's restaurant on south howard avenue. firefighters were called to the scene around midnight. so far the information is limited but the restaurant doesn't have any obvious signs of damage. as soon as we learn more we'll pass it along on air and on- line at abcactionnews.com. today detectives are expected to release surveillance pictures of the suspect who fired a shotgun at a couple during a road rage incident in pasco county.

jake everett and his girlfriend were in their car when a dark colored suv followed them into a parking lot and fired a single shot. one bullet lodged into everett's arm. >> these incidents unfortunately in our county are happening more often. so people are becoming more violent, they are firing weapons at people and this gentleman is lucky he's still alive. >> the couple the suspect got away. crime stoppers is now offering a $3,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest. olympic swimmer ryan lochte says he feels hurt following an incident on "dancing with the stars." two people rushed him as he received his scores from the judges. check this out. security actually handcuffed one of the protesters there on stage. this all happened on live tv. prompting the producers to cut to a commercial. two men were later spotted

indian shores arrest arrested peter hilliker. investigators say she went back to the bar to find her phone and that is when he, an employee at the doors locked the doors and tried to rape her. she kicked him in the groin and got away. a 2-month-old found in a car in miami with two adults passed out from a heroin overdose. the baby is in dcf custody now. both adults recovering in a miami like this in a matter of days. police found a 4-year-old sitting in the back of a van while his parents were passed out from an overdose here in ohio. in this case just from this past friday. today the trial is scheduled to start for the man accused of beating an 11-month- old baby so badly it caused bleeding on his brain.

charges. police say nail was responsible for his care and custody. a faith-based grassroots organization will hold a news conference outside the state attorney's office in downtown tampa. to release a study on drivers of mass incarceration, police accountability and more in hillsborough county. it's set for 10:00 a.m. at the state attorney's office, 419 pierce street. back with the forecast on looking pretty good, mostly clear skies, moon out there looks nice but once again a lot of tropical moisture to deal with and work with. so we have plenty of showers and thunderstorms in the forecast today. though i still think early morning and certainly throughout the morning it will be a dry commute but showers and thunderstorms are moving in with the feature we've been talking about. this wave that will enhance our shower and thunderstorm activity so rain coverage still holding 60%. highs staying south of 90 with

coming up. let's look at the morning commute. this is i-275 at the howard frankland bridge. not a lot of problems -- actually no problems now. janelle will have a full look at the morning commute coming up. traffic alert, 7th avenue in ybor city, 7th avenue will be shut down daily between 34th and 39th street for a paving project. that section had daily from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. it's expected to be finished by the end of the month. this morning we're hearing the 911 calls from the regional medical center as the staff rushes to move patients out of a burning hospital. as abc action news report marisela burgos tells us you can hear the panic in the calls.

>> reporter: dispatchers bombarded with calls the evening of august 31st. the one place people go for emergency had its own. >> i don't see no more flames but i see a lot of smoke. >> reporter: hospital officials believe lightning knocked out the power and the backup system that started an electrical fire in the generator room. >> we have no way of getting medication or supplies or anything. ge >> reporter: emergency services director kevin guthrie says a rescue unit was already at the hospital dropping off a patient. the first fire engine arrived just five minutes later. >> reporter: emergency services requested backup from other departments to transfer. more than 200 patients. guthrie says it took three days to figure out exactly who showed up and with what.

4:43. someone taking out trash in pittsburgh found $175,000 worth of heroin in a dumpster. the stash included 500 bricks of heroin and 25,000 individual bags. authorities say the dumpster may have been a dropoff point for the drugs. it's when police handed the case over to the dea. cleveland police officer fatally shot 12-year-old tamir rice will be removed on wednesday. rice was holding a pellet gun when fatally shot by an officer in november of 2014. a witness had called police about a guy with a pistol and said the gun was probably fake. the officer involved says he thought the gun was real and then rice looked older. the roadways family attorney says the -- the rice family attorney says the gazebo will be eventually part of an art exhibit. a grand jury chose not to

a scary sight in dallas. a driver turning a corner hits a boy who had just gotten off his school bus. >> i got an emergency! >> you see the boy limping after the driver and the driver honks at the 12-year-old -- the child barely able to get up. the driver didn't stop even though the bus had its stop sign out. the 12-year-old only suffered minor injuries but the mom says he's emotionally distraught it's unclear if the driver could see the stop sign or was blocked by a truck in front of the bus. dozens of customers of a tampa bay dating service say they paid thousands of dollars to find love but didn't get what they paid for. taking action reporter jackie calloway their promises never made to it the fine print. >> i was looking at this as looking for that one person for

now with an accused hoarder whose front yard is full of junk. when her brother brought in a dumpster to help her clean up the yard neighbors say she put more junk around the dumpster. county officials started to investigate the case in may of last year. the county says it will clean up the yard in three weeks with a cost of $15,000. good morning. we're looking good now. temperatures in the upper 70s to a we have mostly clear skies but not the case for long. we have a tropical wave that is moving in. that will bring us plenty of moisture and plenty of rain along with it so high rain chances once again today, 60%. there you see the bands coming in associated with the feature as it moves in through melbourne now. pretty impressive swirl coming in across southern brevard, and that continues to stream tropical moisture on top of us, with the heating of the day it will mix in to allow for high rain coverage again. the concentration by the way as

pressure, but as we get through the afternoon we'll begin to see storms. but not our typical pattern. going to see little banding setting up as opposed to the thunderstorms that marched towards the west. it's calling the shots now, and highest concentration closer to the center there and by the way the rainfall potential will be across the interior -- this is the heaviest, through 11:00 tonight. we'll be a few pockets, not saying it's not gng certainly for one to two inches falling at a very short amount of time. it's just not going to be completely widespread. pretty much what we had yesterday, pockets across pinellas into hillsborough. 1 to 2 inches and down towards sarasota as well. so similar to yesterday except i think a little bit higher coverage now further to our east, closer to the low. so 88 for the high. that is one bonus. we're not as warm.
