a man is dead following a shooting in a sarasota neighborhood. what has neighbors stunned this morning. looks like they are taking over a little bit. >> we're hearing the 911 calls made as a fort pierce mosque goes up in flames. new evidence that police are now led to believe it's a hate crime. a school bus driver to blame for a crash this morning that injured three students. it was driving on twindale road, came to a bus stop and pulled out into the intersection it went in front of a pickup truck.

the bus. 20 kids were on the bus at the time of the crash. heading to kathleen high school. three students and the driver of the truck were all taken to the hospital with minor injuries. in sarasota -- overnight shooting leaves one person dead. abc action news anchor james tully is live at the scene. he's been there all morning. what is the sheriff's office saying about the suspect so far? >> reporter: they have not named suspects yet. detectives have been here since 3:00 this morning ta no threat to them at this time. again everyone involved in this shooting they say all the parties involved are accounted for but again no suspects named. no arrests yet. this home here is on the 1,800 block of rita street in sarasota. it's an area that deputies say isn't a common place for drug or gang activity but still they are not ruling that out at this hour. one neighbor tells me he heard about six gunshots after 2:00 in the morning. then heard yelling at each

nearly 40 years says he's hardly ever seen anyone from the sheriff's office around this neighborhood. >> it's kind of weird that we had a murder in this neighborhood. you know, you always hear about it in other peoples' neighborhoods but not your own. so it's kind of disturbing. >> reporter: looking outside the home. you see a car parked. we've noticed that one of the tires there is flat. not sure if it's related to any of the shots fired worth noting. the body of the man shot and killed hasn't yet been removed from the home so we'll be careful of what we show you. deputies saying there's no danger to anyone living here. but one person shot and killed. we're waiting for more information. live in sarasota, james tully, abc action news. let's check in on the forecast. we're going to be mostly cloudy today despite the sunshine. look at this tropical wave. certainly entering brevard

still seeing bands associated with it. that all continues to head to the north and west. because it's so concentrated the thinking at least for the time being is that a lot of this will be concentrated off to the north and east. on the back side of it we'll begin to get into thunderstorms with the heating of the day and plenty of ample moisture left over, but the bulk of the heaviest rain, 5, 6 inches not out of the question well to our east. as far as the temperatures, kept back because of the cloud cover and rainfall we'll to day of unsettled weather tomorrow and then back into the typical pattern which is 40% chance of rain through the afternoon. plenty of sun through the early part of the day. wrapping up the tuesday commute hopefully. >> looking pretty good. roads dry as they've been in the morning for the last few days. this is i-275 through downtown tampa. the lanes wide open there. you'll have no trouble getting to the howard frankland. the courtney campbell looks great here.

drive times. still 16 minutes to get across the courtney campbell. typically it is about 10 minutes. checking the average speeds, looking for the slow spot, it's in the middle, i-275 southbound from fletcher to i-4 still just 28 miles an hour. this morning we're learning new information about that fire at the mosque where the pulse nightclub shooter worshiped. investigators say the fire at the islamic center of fort pierce may have been a hate crime. the st. lucie says surveillance video shows a white or hispanic male walking toward the building carrying a bottle containing liquid and paper. he soon runs from the mosque before a big flash comes to the building. he left on a motorcycle with a low seat and high handle bars. people who live in the area say it's the latest in a string of harassments toward that house of worship and its members. >> the message we want to send to the public, an attack on any house of worship is an attack on all houses of worship.

authorities very suspicious given the 15th anniversary of the september 11th attacks and the beginning of the feast of the sacrifice, a muslim holiday. investigators believe a mosquito repellent candle left burning may so sparked this fire in hernando county that destroyed a home. firefighters were called yesterday afternoon to the brooksville home but say there were no fire hydrants in the rural why, they rushed in to bring water tankers. they managed to keep the flames from spreading to other houses but couldn't save the home the fire marshal is now investigating. the red cross is helping the two kids and two adults that live there. the fight against the zika virus heads to capitol hill. reporter jacqueline powell reports on how governor rick scott is in washington, dc to fight for more federal funding. >> reporter: governor rick scott will be meeting with lawmakers like senator marco rubio once he gets to washington, dc. this comes after three failed attempts to create more funding for fighting zika. right now lawmakers are working on a plan that would provide

governor scott will be talking to congress members about that plan and stressing the importance of doing something now. right now in florida nearly 800 cases of the zika virus have been confirmed. lawmakers expect there will be a vote on the zika virus bill later this week. i'm jacqueline powell reporting. a man accused of severely beating and biting a toddler is scheduled to go on trial today. police arrested glen neal in july of last year. they say he old baby boy so badly that toddler suffered bleeding on the brain and had to go on life support. investigators say the 31-year- old kicked and punched that baby while taking care of him. they charged him with attempted murder. we'll still waiting for neal's relationship to be revealed in relationship to the baby. a 2-month-old baby is in dcf custody after miami police found the baby in a back seat of a car with two adults passed

of the baby. both adults are in a miami hospital. this is the second incident like it in a matter of days. on friday a 4-year-old was found sitting in the back of a van in ohio while his parents are passed out from an overdose. that video went viral. a pinellas county man is under arrest and charged with trying to rape a woman at the bar where he works. indian shores police arrested peter hillicker for attempted sexual assaults and false imprisonment. police say the v that is when police say he locked the doors an started to rip her clothes off and saying he would rape her. she kicked him in the groin and ran away. still ahead -- the video that everybody is talking about. protesters tackled as they rushed toward ryan lochte live on "dancing with the stars" last night. the dramatic start to the season on the dance floor coming up. a teacher opens up his bedroom window to see hundreds of students standing outside.

welcome back. 9:11. we want to get to the scene that everybody is talking about. last night's chaos on "dancing with the stars" when two people rushed the stage trying to get to ryan lochte. the whole thing happened live on tv just as lochte finished his dance. abc's george penocchio has the story. >> reporter: after controversial olympic tar ryan lochte finished his foxtrot with cheryl burke he faced the judges. >> excuse me! >> reporter: suddenly two men rushed the stage toward them tackled by security. that security then detained 40- year-old bazine and a 42-year- old until police arrested them. >> he's a liar. we went to the stage and he tackled me. >> the event unnerved the

showers and thunderstorms for later this afternoon but look at this, we can talk about this on the social media machine. look at the spin. it's a tropical wave. very well organized, wrapping around here through melbourne. if it had stayed another day just to the east of us over water, this probably would be classified as a tropical depression. doesn't really matter at this point. it's over land, nothing to see as far as that is concerned but the rain associated with it, that certainly is with us and you can clearly see that acrs peninsula. very concentrated, heaviest of which is still off-shore but that will come in so the eastern part of the state, we're going to get clocked with 6 plus inches of rainfall. for us, we're on the other end so we'll talk about what that is going to look like on futurecast. for the next couple days at least i think rain chances are high, before we get back to normal, about 40%. just in time for the weekend. the bonus with the cloud cover that will take over the temperatures won't be allowed

the afternoon. here's futurecast. that bulk of rainfall activity to the east. but notice eastern hillsborough now polk county getting involved, by the time we get to 11:00, 12:00. you can appreciate that spin with everything developing as well. we don't have to wait for this, for it to rain in hillsborough, pinellas, manatee, sarasota. we are going to crank out our own showers and thunderstorms with the heating of the day and with plenty of moisture available here. so it's going to be one of those deals if you're driving around you may hit and miss downur potential is there for heavy downpours at any given time which could lead to ponding. look at the futurecast. this is rainfall potential. probably a little heavier in pockets. i don't think it will be quite as concentrated as this is depicting but in general heaviest rain to the east. will get pockets of heavy rain, but not as concentrated for us. at this point temperatures in the mid and upper 80s. that is about all we'll manage today with the cloud cover.

the superintendent thinks the extra time will give kids a chance to recalibrate and go back to class refreshed. kids love it but the district says it's gotten a little pushback from some parents who think school is nor learning, not for playing. usually takes a pretty unique circumstance to call off class but last wednesday it was not the weather or fire drill that cleared one school. students left the building for a beloved teacher. what happens next just shows the teacher's infleurns can sometimes spread beyond the classroom. influence. >> wow. it was amazing. in that moment i felt like -- i was not alone. >> diagnosed with esophageal cancer last september, love for ben ellis and his family pours in daily. his wife shelley shows the cards and letters. >> from elementary school students through, yeah, students that he taught 10 and 15 years ago. >> reporter: but they also

working to catch this driver before he hurts someone else. abc action news reporter james tully is live at the walmart in land o' lakes -- excuse me, ashley yore is on land o' lakes boulevard where this accident. very scary moments for the man and his girlfriend. >> reporter: they certainly were, that couple was heading here to this walmart when this all happened on sunday. when they finally pulled in here they were trying to take a look at the damage that was done. you're looking at jake everett's taillight after he says he was driving down u.s. 41 with his girlfriend when a driver in an suv brake checked him and followed him off the road into this walmart parking lot. that is when everett says the driver fired a shot from a shotgun spraying the couple's car with pellets. everett was hit in the arm, a pellet too deep to be ever removed from his shoulder.

why this happened. >> as soon as we got behind him he brake checked us for no reason. we looked at each other well, what was that about? we were scared. >> reporter: right after that the driver took off. detectives are now going through surveillance video looking for a clean picture of the suspect's vehicle. right now they know it's a dark colored older model suv with a roof rack and possibly a florida tag. a dog with a dark coat was also spotted sitting in passenger seat of the suspect's vehicle. pasco detectives say that road rage incidents like this one are becoming more common. they are asking for your help, if you have any information that could lead to an arrest of this suspect, it could be worth up to $3,000 through crime stoppers. reporting live in pasco county, i'm ashley yore, abc action news. 9:32. we turn to the latest in democracy 2016 -- donald trump is on the campaign trail today while hillary clinton is recovering from pneumonia at

fire last month. >> staff and patients made several calls from regional medical center bayonet point the night of august 31st. hospital officials believe a lightning strike sparked a generator fire knocking out the power. ambulances took more than 200 patients to other hospitals in the area. they say it took three days to figure out patients' treatment at hospitals where taken. now they are looking at making changes. >> making sure we do a better job in the future of getting exactly what resource we have coming. and actually identifying it. is it hillsborough county rescue 21? we need that level of detail in the future. >> we reached out to hospital staff. they said "we are proud of the calm focus our team demonstrated in each of their calls to 911 and throughout the

morning about liquid medications and your young children. a new report shows dosing cups and syringes are less reliable and could result in an overdose. that study published in the journal pediatrics says researchers testing dosing skills of more than 2,100 parents of young children, what they found, more than four in five of the parents made at least one dosing error. one in five made a large dosing error meaning they were off on the dose by more than 20% and two out of three of the errors would have led to an court documents say a retired indianapolis fertility doctor used his own sperm to impregnate at least eight mothers decades ago. he admitted what he did to six of the adult children. donald klein said he used his own sperm 50 times telling patients they had the sperm of medical residents or students instead. he faces two felony counts of obstruction after lying to authorities during an investigation filed by two of the children. klein could be the father of at least eight people.

that fire. the memphis fire department released the cause as relatives and friends mourned loved ones at a vigil last night. firefighters responded to the house fire early yesterday morning, found three adults, four children dead in the home. two other kids were rushed to a hospital. sadly they didn't survive. one other child remains in the hospital this morning. >> a loss for words. i feel like it's an out of body experience right now. >> it's >> officials say the fire only burned about 25% of the home but the thick smoke filled the entire house. most of the people who died from the fire died from smoke inhalation. the fire chief says this is the deadliest fire in memphis since the 1920s. a pocket dial to 911 leads to a drug bust in kentucky and police say they arrested two men after one of them called

overheard a conversation about drugs. >> dispatcher heard some people over the phone talking about drugs. >> officials were able to ping the phone and found the men at a nearby gas station. one was charged with possession of meth and heroin. another with the possession of a handgun and both men are in jail. dozens of students from new york took a field trip they won't soon forget. the sailboat broke down on the hudson river yesterday. police say rescue boats pushed to it shore after the engine failed. the boat was operated by a company that does sailing trips to promote environmental awareness. no students were hurt. scary moments for the pilot of this plane in indonesia. that plane skidded to a halt on the runway yesterday. you can see the trail of smoke from the tires. the 737 was carrying fuel to remote area, officials say the foggy weather made it difficult for the pilot to land but luckily no one was hurt.

see something that is -- what's that? nothing going to be there. i will tell you what, let's talk about the typhoon. let's go to swi, goodness, this is a strong -- the strongest tropical cyclone so far this year. cat 5, 185 mile-per-hour winds. they don't use categories with typhoons but it's the equivalent of a hurricane in the atlantic ocean of a cat 5. you see taiwan there. this will miss them as far as a direct strike. looks like it will go them here, torrential rain is in the cards and in fact if it does make landfall, as is, or even just a little weaker than 185 it would be the strongest one to hit them in 16 years, the last one was 155 mile-an- hour winds. we're going to get incredible pictures in the next 12, 24 hours from that part of the world. we'll share them with you as we head especially into tomorrow morning. for us, speaking of tropical systems, this is a tropical

if this was about 50 miles to the east hurricane hunters would be in there, we would probably be talking about tropical depression but at this point it doesn't matter because remember the storms feed off of warm ocean. and the center of circulation is now making its way inland. so it's not going to continue to get organized, but the rain associated with it. that is on top of the state and that will be with us as we head through today. notice a good chunk of us still with blue skies but eventually with the moisture, with the heating of the day we'll be able to get our showers and storms going later afternoon. coverage about 60%. as everything continues to lift to the north. we are just in the soup here. the next 24 hours. in fact heading into tomorrow as well. we'll be back into more rainfall. before we get back to our typical afternoon summer thunderstorms this time of year should be about 40% but it will be high the next two days. rainfall potential, two chunks. closer to the center of circulation to the tropical wave, then on the back side of it we'll continue to make our own thunderstorms. so potential 1 to 2 inches

>> what reaction do you see from patients when you say we have the foundation, we're going to help with a car payment or rent? they cry? >> they cry, they hug. i had a patient last week, he's stage 4 rectal cancer, lost his job and we were trying to get ahold of him to get a clinical trial set up. he lost his phone so we got him set up with the foundation and now he's able to get a phone so we can try to get him back and forth for the clinical trials. it's a huge -- has a huge impact on patients. party with a purpose. all the time to hear the doctor explain that patient you really see why these fundraisers are important. >> absolutely. we help hundreds of patients weekly. and it is very important so that they can actually focus on recovery rather than all of those outstanding bills. >> each year you do a different theme. i know this year you're doing
