4:27 am
good morning on this wednesday. if you went to bed early this may be a surprise -- we have a tropical storm, julia nearby. in fact over jacksonville now. not the most potent but as usually the case it's already a big rainmaker. we were tracking this on the show yesrd organized tropical wave i've ever seen. yes, it certainly was and quickly we went from 10% probability to a tropical storm. why you always have to check back with us. things can change in the tropics quickly. 40 mile-per-hour sustained winds. not expecting the advisory to change much. the center is over land. needs to be over water to get going as far as wind but it's going to be a rainmaker for the southeast. on the back side for us, that's important because we have moisture coming from the gulf.
4:28 am
going to be a prolific rainmaker, no question, with upwards of 6 plus inches. a good half-foot there along coastal areas. you see here still left over moisture. that is streaming in from southwest to northeast. so we're raining. it's going to be a wet commute for folks across the coast. manatee, sarasota, if you're watching from there, even a little further north as well. we widen out the shot and you can see more showers and a few embedded thund day. that will be the theme today. mostly cloudy, on and off rain showers, at times will be heavy. it's what we have to look forward to before we dry out heading into the latter part of the week. that tropical moisture with us for today, a little tomorrow. rain chances at 50%. and then we'll see lower rain chances between 30% and 40% heading in to friday and in time for the weekend. there goes the rainfall, continues to move from southwest to northeast.
4:29 am
accumulation not all that much. so we're not close to the storm like we were with colin and hermine. it's on the other side here but still enough where we could pick up a half-inch, maybe an inch and isolated pockets of higher totals but not really widespread. although course, no rain for the rest of the season and we would be fine thanks. we're going to today. shouldn't hit 90 by this afternoon. this forecast looks ominous. the potential is there for on and off rain, even thunderstorms throughout the day. it's not going to rain where you are every single hour of the day so just keep in mind if you are going to be driving, you'll hit the showers, some will be heavy at times. then we'll get back to a more typical pattern beginning tomorrow and really kicking in on friday. 40% rain chances down from where we've been.
4:30 am
temperatures at 90. abc action news starts now. 4:30 -- tropical storm julia forms along the coast of florida. it's expected to bring heavy rain and flash flooding. >> presidential pardon. nasa whistleblower edward snowden is asking president obama to pardon him. the argument he's making to return to the u.s. >> and hillary clinton will get ba t with pneumonia. how she's been keeping busy during her time off and the new trouble for her rival donald trump. good morning. thank you for joining us on this wednesday. i'm dan shaffer. >> welcome back. >> thank you. >> i'm deiah riley. that and more in a moment. first we're following breaking news in brandon. hillsborough county deputies are conducting a death investigation. at a home just south of wenhorse road and parsons avenue. the information is limited now
