a pond on a golf course money. >> rodney dunningan is there live with more on the rescue effort. >> reporter: at this point, they appear to be fine which is good news. they've been stuck in the pond since september 2nd. as you can see behind me, a number of volunteers came out to help. workers at the golf course have done everything in their power to ensure the animals are safe. this video provided by plantation on crystal river resort shows crews working to care for and monitor the manatees. they are out of their natural habitat thanks to hurricane hermine. >> they are moved by hand. no cranes are moved. we'll have plenty of hefty lifters around. >> reporter: the condition and food supply monitored daily

putting together a plan to remove them this morning. >> this is the best vegetation for them ever. it's like the creme de la creme for them. they have been feasting on that. the upon the is 200 yards long and 50 yards wide, 10 feet deep. so they've got plenty of room to move around and plenty of food. >> reporter: the official facebook page updating the progress of the operation. at least six sea cows spotted. >> it can it depends on how difficult it is to locate and how difficult it is to get into the water. >> simply wishing for the best for their unexpected visitors. >> knowing that they are going home, that's what i do this for. >> reporter: once these manatees are removed from the pond, they will be looked at by doctors to ensure they are okay. they will be placed back into the federal habitat.

last, i'm told by a number of volunteers this could be a number of hours or possibly even days. six of the animals in this pond, of course we'll be out here monitoring this. you can go to our action news facebook page. we'll be streaming this rescue operation live there as well. for now, we're reporting live in crystal river, rodney dunningan, abc action news. we're learning five new travel-related cases of zika in florida. yesterday protesters took their hall of miami. they are upset about chemicals being used to kill virus- carrying mosquitoes. they are worried the aerial spraying is more dangerous than zika itself. they are encouraged that the pressure in washington d.c. will help with the fight against zika. he is demanding the federal government come up with a plan and cash to fight the virus. several bills to fund the fight against zika has failed. the money could run out by the

he is the person who killed 49 people in the pulse nightclub. some unsettling allegations about by flight. action news crews found out that air ambulance company flew patients in a medical chopper that should have been grounded. michael paluska got his hands on faa documents explaining how lives were endangered dozens of times and what the company told us when we asked them about reckless, endangering lives and property is what air methods corporation is accused of doing that during 51 separate flights between november 4 and november 11 of 2014. the chopper in the report is featured on bay flight's home page. the faa says that chopper was not air worthy. the faa allegations that air

i think the heaviest will stay off offshore. plenty of action with an area that will watch. i don't think it will do much. it's going the other way away from florida. as far as moisture associated with it, still on top of us, so with the heating of the day, that's about all that we need for the thunderstorms. we'll get that going. showers are moving in across citrus. we'll markhor and do that. everything and marches to the east. not everyone will get rain. 50% is what we're talking about here. if you do get showers and thunderstorms, these will be the kinds to produce heavy rain in. that's tropical depression karl as it continues to move off towards the west. look at this.

along the side of the road. the man who owns the suv says he heard the crash and woke up in a panic. outside, he found broken headlights and bumpers and side paneling. even worse, the engine of his car had completely shifted in the crash, leaving him stranded in more ways than one. >> for him it's everything. he doesn't have a car so he's relying on me or my stepdad to get to work. >> reporter: watch the video again. parked suv, the driver backs up and drives off leaving nothing behind but a trail of leaked fluids. surveillance cameras didn't catch a license plate on the driver's vehicle. it is safe to say this morning tampa police are looking for an suv with front end damage that the driver can't explain.

boy proving bravery beyond his years. police say the teen you see here, johnnie morris, picked up that 4-year-old. the kid wasn't having any of that. they bit him to get free. the team found him hiding in a clothes dryer but couldn't fit inside. officers arrested the teen suspect. a subway employee gives a man a free cookie only to be robbed by him claimed to have a gun last week and demanded money from the register. the employee says the same guy came into the store twice before the robbery. once to buy cook cookies -- cookies, which she gave him free, but he came back to complain about the cookies. a family discovered a spider baked into a vanilla wafer cookie at aldi.

a $5 coupon which the family says is laughable. aldi says they take safety seriously. california is the first state to ban breeding and holding killer whales in captivity. killer whales will stay but can only be used for educational presentations. seaw already announced it is ending its breeding programs and phasing out theatrical killer whale shows. a young boy in canada thought his soccer ball was gone forever after he kicked it in the street and it was run over by a police officer. the police officer stopped and promised to replace the ball and made good on the promise. he even brought stickers for the boy's stickers. >> just trying to be helpful.

an area where students walk every day. a teacher at homestead high school in miami-dade county says police officers surprised him with a snake during a lesson on invasive species. the police called florida fish and wildlife. they didn't wait for the officers to get there. they caught the snake themselves because they didn't want to risk the snake getting away. who hasn't been embarrassed by their parents showing off pictures of a babe. y. >> -- you as a baby. >> one child is suing her parents because of showing off baby pictures that are embarrassing. her father says he owns them because he took them. a court case is now set for november. listen to this. if the teenager wins, her parents may have to pay compensation to their daughter. >> i saw on "good morning
