saturday's explosion in new york. here are the details. >> a bomb just went off in new york. >> it shattered the windows and we ducked. >> reporter: this man helps a woman bloody by flying debris. >> i'm holding you. you're ok. nothing going to happen. >> the explosion so powerful that authorities are shocked no one was killed. and that all 29 people injured have already been released from area hospitals. as many as five people were taken into fbi custody tonight in connection with the explosion but have not yet been charged with a crime. the investigation is continuing. police found what they believe to be the bomb left in this toolbox now a pile of twisted metal. authorities are hoping another device found just a few blocks away provides more answers. >> the word is both devices are pressure cookers. they were similar in construct.

pressure cook we are wires and cell phone attached on its way to a lab for more investigation. >> it was an intentional act. >> reporter: as new york city prepares to welcome hundreds of world leaders this week for the u.n. general assembly the governor insists new york is ready. >> we will find who planted these explosives and they will be punished. >> reporter: multiple law enforcement officials are telling abc news that they've seen one man in surveillance footage at both the bombing location and from where they found that unemployeded device. they are now faye that man. maggie ruly, abc news, new york. we're also following breaking news from citrus county. the florida department of law enforcement issuing an amber alert last night for two children. authorities say the kids' mother kidnapped them from a guardian living in lecanto. here's a picture of the mom, 38- year-old stacey williams. detectives say she burst into the home of the caregiver attacking that woman before grabbing 3-year-old ryland

williams and leaving. they believe she's traveling with her husband, ryan, the children's father. it's feared the children are in danger, the couple have a volatile relationship and history of drug abuse. williams could be heading to west virginia in a 2004 ford expedition if you have information or see them call 911. ivan cabrera has florida's most accurate forecast. >> good morning. we had a few showers and storms yesterday. right now skies clear, winds calm. not much of a cooling breeze out there. although the actual temperatures in the mid and upper 70s across the interior but feels like upper 80s to around 90 degrees at this hour because of the warm water temperature. also the humidity that is on top of us, tropical air mass sets the stage for showers and storms to really get going by the time we get to mid-morning. rain coverage 40%. we'll have highs this afternoon

index well into the 90s and 100s. quick check of the roads, i- 75 at fowler avenue no issues to report there. nary a car on the road. we'll check the roads again in 15 minutes. one traffic alert -- part of the selmon expressway is closed until 5:00 this morning to allow crews to pressure clean the reversible express lanes. both eastbound and westbound are closed from 50th street to 22nd street. the closures will continue for three weeks. lanes through thursdays from 8:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. the reversible express lanes will stay open for eastbound drivers. 4:34. a 17-month-old toddler is dead shot and killed at a south tampa apartment complex. detectives trying to figure out how it happened just after 4:00 yesterday afternoon. several neighbors at the clipper bay apartment complex north of macdill air force base say that little girl may have found the gun and shot herself.

showers already developing. we have a westerly flow. that means that the steering currents are going to move the showers and storms from west-to- east so we'll see them first on the coast and lastly across our interior counties. sometimes we get the opposite. like last week. we'll watch what happens here, by the time we get to 4:00, 5:00, 6:00 p.m. everything pushes nicely to the east so we'll begin to get a break along the coast. then the storms continue to intensify a little further across polk, hardee, desoto, highlands, even hillsborough as well. there's tropical storm karl, very weak and ragged-looking storm now but it's forecast to become a hurricane. then pretty good chance it will develop, 80% chance it will, a new tropical wave off africa. we'll watch that. this is the projected path for tropical storm karl. in fact i will tell you this is the latest from the national happy -- national hurricane center. this is a 5:00 a.m.

neighbors. police say she told her neighbors a bomb would go off in an hour. k-9 officers swept the area but found nothing. investigators say the suspect told them it was an empty threat. she's now charged with a false report concerning the planting of a bomb. >> the egyptair crash in may, investigators say they found explosive materials in the may have been an inside job. flight 804 crashed over the mediterranean sea as it was heading from paris to cairo, all 66 people on board died. in arizona, federal officials investigating what caught a skydiving plane to crash into a house near phoenix saturday night. authorities say everyone on board that plane bailed out before the crash. the pilot was burned but is also expected to survive. people inside that house are also ok but the home is a total loss.

and national average. but drivers in the south found some stations are running out of gas. >> it's happening in alabama, south carolina and tennessee. the gas shortage is being blamed on a leaking gas pipeline in alabama. that leak is disrupting the gas distribution in the southeast and prices are rising a few cents at the stations with gas. some drivers of course hope the shortage ends soon. >> it's concerning at first. i have a 40-minute commute to work. so i wasn't quite sure if i would have back and forth. >> i think people may be freaking out for no reason. >> companies running out of gas say they are doing what they can to get more gas trucked in. aaa believes it will end soon though. and the leaking pipeline should be repaired in the next week. an actress best known for her role as leasele in the 1965 oscar winning film "the sound of music" died.
