suspected serial bomber ends in gunfire. >> there's a guy shooting a gun, shots fired. >> reporter: unfolding three hours after police sent a text alert and released an image of the suspect. 28-year-old ahmad khan rahami. the owner of this bar in linden, new jersey sees a man sleeping in his hallway and called police. the officer recognizes the suspect. >> in seconds the suspect fired on him. >> reporter: rahami flees on police officers pursuing him. the officers fire back bringing him down, now recovering in the hospital. >> man, it was wild. >> reporter: the takedown, 48 hours after the first device exploded on this new jersey boardwalk. then this powerful blast rocked a manhattan neighborhood. three hours later a pressure cooker is found just four blocks north and the next night five pipe bombs are found at the new jersey train station.

video surveillance and information gathered from the unflowedded bomb led him to rahami. a naturalized american citizen born in afghanistan. the fbi found more bombs when searching his apartment. we're told he traveled to afghanistan and pakistan telling authorities he had a wife in pakistan. >> if he's made frequent trips to afghanistan then investigators in particular, the fbi are going to have to figure out who he visited and what were purpose of his trip. >> reporter: authorities tell abc news that rahami refusing to answer questions or even give his name. right now they are digging into his life on-line and into the trip to afghanistan trying to figure out a motive and to find out if he was in fact acting alone. abc news, new york. 4:32. in las vegas a shooting in a parking garage at mccarren

injured in a domestic-related shooting. police say the shooter made it off airport property and still on the run. the man's condition is not known but the woman is eked to survive. no reports of flight delays related to the incident. a houston man now in jail nor plotting to blow up a building, he now faces 10 years in prison. this comes as pasco county deputies investigate a suspicious device left in a busy intersection. a detective plans to meet with people in land o' lakes to give more information about that suspicious package it was found nearly two weeks ago near the intersection of collier parkway and roderick drive. the area blocked off for hours as several agencies investigated. the sheriff says the device had mortar shells in it and it was classified as fireworks. but people in the neighborhood say they want more answers. >> the lack of information provided to us is somewhat disconcerting. you like to know what is going on in your neighborhood.

arrest in this case. happening today -- the toddler who died during a shooting in south tampa over the weekend is going to be laid to rest. a 17 month amaya shaffy will be buried at sunset memory gardens in thonotosassa. he was shot at her family's apartment near macdill air force base. the investigation is ongoing if she kalen mancuso is a softball, volleyball and pe teacher at kathleen high school. she was arrested for reportedly forging $700 worth of checks. the report says she used whiteout to check the name on the checks to her name and made deposits into her personal account. mancuso told investigators she used the money to buy thins for the school's sports teams. deputies need your help catching an armed robber.

remembers the day the digging started. >> they dropped the bucket right on the property line. i stood in my yard and talked to the man. that's how close he was to me. >> reporter: hamilton, a pastor now says once the digging began dust and odors filled his home and the water out of his faucets and toilets turned with the mining. >> reporter: imc denied contaminating the local wells but this 1995 "u.s. news & world report" shows how the company spent more than $1 million digging deeper wells for residents. since 1993 the area has run on these small treatment plants maintained by polk county but these latest images now have alarm bells ringing in hamilton's head once again.
