protests. abc action anchor lindsay logue joins us now. from what we understand, a protester was shot last night. >> police say that man, serena, was shot by another protester, not by police, but he is in critical condition this morning. another four officers were injured on the streets overnight. it is so bad there, national guard troops just start add i'veing in charlotte to assist police and diffuse the crowds. take a look have gotten under control. instead it is a protest. vandals and thieves destroyed many local businesses on the popular main drag including the hornets official team shop, restaurants and hotels. in one video we have seen on social media, they tried to set a news photographer on fire. >> i am trying to prevent

scene to explain. adam? >> reporter: this is a man you need to take a look at and keep your eyes open for this morning as you head out the door. this is a man with a history of violence. the situation started as a traffic stop right here in this parking lot. the stop n. shop here just north of fletcher avenue. she pulled the driver over because he did wearing a seat belt. according to the sheriff's office, once the car was stopped here, ate passenger got out of the car, shove -- here, a passenger got out of the car, shoved the deputy, and the deputy tased wayford. that did not take him down. he ran off. authorities are looking for him now. sheriffs deputies are describing him as dangerous.

our average highs, too, in the upper 80s at the beginning of fall here. it's dry air moving in. if you don't like widespread showers and thunderstorms, this is the kind of pattern you will like. it holds with it 24 to 48 hours. today and tomorrow, the rain chances look pretty good. when that happens, of course, you have to give away temperatures. that means low 90s and with less cloud cover. we're going to be of heat and humidity still here. we're talking temps in the low 90s. the feels like temp has been above 100 degrees. that will be another steamer as we ring in the fall and stay in the summer pattern through friday. the weekend look goods, by the way. if you have outdoor plans, early saturday, early sunday, we'll look good. the pattern will shift and the wind will be pushing the storms towards the coast as opposed to what's happening lately here. so late afternoon, evening
