a good friday morning. today, federal investigators exexcuse me, hope to gain access to mangled commuter train that plowed into a new jersey station. >> there were safety concerns that prevented investigators from getting close to the scene. the new jersey transit train slammed into a wall at the hoboken platform during the busy morning commute. >> the crash killed one person. a 34-year-old woman who dropped her child off at day care. she was killed by flying debris. >> the focus today will turn to the engineer. a 48-year-old new jersey resident. he's been released from the hospital. stephanie ramos joins us with more. >> reporter: kendis and diane, good morning. you can see fire crews, police. yellow tape positioned outside of the train station. there are so many questions as to why this new jersey transit

with no warning. >> we have a train. it entered the train station at hoboken terminal. we need multiple ems for multiple injuries. >> reporter: the ntsb is investigating. >> people are running every way. >> reporter: it was mass chaos after the train barreled through the station in hoboken, new jersey, leaving debris everywhere and passengers stuped. >> are you okay? >> reporter: in these image, you can see passengers scrambling off the mangled moments after the crash. >> e we ran over. a lot of people were kicking out windows, trying to exit the train. >> reporter: many of the injured were on the platform. including 34-year-old fabiola bittar dekroon. who lost her life after being hit with debris. thomas gallagher, the train's engineer was release from the hospital and is said to be

good morning. i'm ivan cabrera here on a friday. i hope you are starting the day with us. we're talking about showers and storms continuing to move off of the gulf. it's already a wet morning for us here. take a look at bradenton and portions of western manatee county. we'll put this into motion and you will be able to see that fl these showers and storms are not weakening. we have another cell up to the north, similar to yesterday to citrus county. more where that came from. this plume of moisture still continues. we have dry air that will work its way in. for our lower counties, this will not make that much progress to the south.

chance of showers and storms. upper 70s right now with mostly cloudy skies. of course there are some areas that are already raining as i just showed you. temperatures dropping in the low to mid-70s this morning. we'll continue to see that throughout the morning. then we'll get ready for more rainfall. as we head through the morning hours, we get a break and that will set the stage for more thunderstorms to pop up during everything as that flow tips off to the north and east. after matthew, we have been noticing despite the winds pressure has been falling. the forecast now, of course, because of the current intensity, there has been a change in the intensity forecast, which happens all of the time. now we're looking at a major hurricane here with 120 mile- per-hour winds as in the

for us, this would have been a huge threat if it had continued farther to the west and then made the turn. once it makes that turn to the north, it's not going to hook back. it's just not the setup we have in the atmosphere. the eastern side of the state, the storm could get close enough to ask for impacts here and eventually up into the carolinas. this we're talking about heading into next week. for us it still looks pretty impacts. we'll keep you posted. temps in the upper 80s this afternoon. the rain coverage is about 40%. we'll keep it through saturday and heading into sunday for both weekend days. we'll have temps in the upper 80s to 90 degrees. we have mid-70s here for tampa. a little farther to the north we'll see temperatures dropping
