day. we are talking about storms continuing with us. afternoon showers and storms. we have been in the summery pattern with a lot of humidity, warm temperatures and we usually get into july and august the afternoon thunderstorms. that will change late week and especially heading into next weekend we will finally get fall weather through here. that will happen with not just dray conditions but windy. the reason because of which we are tracking closely. still haven't got the update from the hurricane center for the 5:00 a.m. when that comes out, i wouldn't be surprised if florida has hurricane watches or tropical storm watches especially on the southeast coast. we will see if they pull the trigger on that. there is matthew, the center of which is passing close to haiti with not just -- i will tell you what, a category 1 or 2 storm would be a disaster for
4:47 am
not set up to be able to take on that much water and wind. a category 4 is just -- i am hoping for the best for these folks. this will be something. 2, 3 feet of rainfall. on top of that the storm surge across the south and where most folks live at the capital there, that is where we are talking about the potential for 100, 120 miles per hour winds along with the rainfall coming down. then it emerges after cuba over the bahamas. how it emerges will be a big question. the storm is compact as far as the hurricane force field. that can expand. so, we may be looking at a quite different storm dynamically than now. that would mean a bigger swath of hurricane winds. with this path this close to florida it could be impacting the eastern part of the state. for us, not a whole lot has changed except the track is further to the west. the winds are gustier through
4:48 am
as it stands now, we are on the drier side of the storm. here is the forecast as it continues up to the north. if you were with us yesterday and i'm sure you were checking back, we did have a northwest jog. this is a northwest turn at this point. if this trend continues, this is going to be a bigger issue for the eastern part of the state and there you see some of our interior counties getting in the cone as well and then by days 5 and 7, this is too early at this point. what troubles me is the gfs, the american model has come aboard with the european that was showing a closer track to the u.s. now they are both together which would equal a higher forecast as far as what we are counting on here. there go the storms, the storm and you see it very close as far as the two different models thursday and friday. as i see it now, we will deal with wind, it could be stronger for the interior counties.
4:49 am
on the drier side of the storm. until it continues west then we may get into the rain bands. nothing to do with matthew right now except the flow from the east will translate into more afternoon thunderstorms for us. i think the coverage still at 50% before we turn drier and by the way right there what you are seeing toward the later part of the period, that is matthew off the screen there. the storms today will continue to fire along the sea breeze as well. we will have high in the upper 80s. tropical air mass with us and the rain chance with us at 50%. we drop that tomorrow then we turn windier because of matthew and drier to the end of the week. by the weekend, there is the temperatures. it wouldn't be surprised to have mid-60s in the nature coast. we have a lot to get through with matthew in the next few days. >> thanks, ivan. 11 minutes until 5:00. let's get a look at part of your morning commute.
